Fursuit Barbie was not something i was expecting to live long enough to witness.
I got a barbie once that had a Kelly doll in a complete wolf outfit thing that couldn’t be removed. It was the big bad wolf in a little red riding hood set.
There's someone on tiktok who made a whole mini barbie fursuit and hand sewed it for her it was adorable haha
I was like "its not TOO fur suity its like kids stuff" and then I saw the hand hooves and was like "ah"

Seriously! I was like "Okay Barbie is just going to the local furry convention now???" She was always a horse girl, and I feel like the horse girl to furry pipeline is real, so it actually makes sense.
I’m a Barbie collector, Depending on the doll you buy, Barbie’s have wrist movements, cutie revel Barbie’s do no only 9 points of movement.

The ones I had as a kid had joints in the knees you couldn't see on the outside. You just crack crack crack them into positions.

Barbie used to have so much detail. My mom was a collector so yes I've seen how amazing Barbie was. There was constantly real textiles and even famous fashion designers who did entire playline clothing packs. Ever since Barbie kinda fell off Mattel just gave up on putting extra paint detailing on shoes or accessories. Very sad.
I was just thinking about this. I had Barbies in the 80s, and even the basic non-collector's dolls had beautiful clothes.
Agree 100%!! I grew up in the 80s and my regular Barbies were super detailed and the clothes were well made. Even the separate outfit packs had a lot of items in them.

I have to correct kitty editor, barbie did in the 90s have dolls that came out with wrist joints. It wasn't many, but yes she did. Also kinda accurate to have a bunch of plastic shoes with a barbie.

Barbie used to have a lot of detail to them. When I was young my grandmother let me play with her childhood Barbie dolls from the 60s and 70s and the clothing had unique fabrics and several layers and pieces, the paint jobs on accessories alongside the textures and transparencies on things like cups were all well done. They also used to have fabric bags and purses. The late 2010s is when I really noticed Barbie becoming cheaper and cheaper in presentation compared to its similar priced competitors.
same thing happened with my little pony mid gen 3 outfits went form fabric to plastic, and they CAN stain your pony
The last good Barbies I had were the generation girls that had unique accessories and looks. The last good accessories were Fashion Ave. Now there aren't any interesting dolls. Different body types and color tones which is a good change but the clothes are hot garbage.
The cheap Barbie’s came out in 2013. Before that Barbie Fashionistas had good articulation. They completely removed the articulation in 2013, and it only came back with the Barbie Extra and the Made to Move lines.
They have made to move Barbie’s, which have more articulation, which may be what you were thinking of with the wrist joint. They have articulation at the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle. I think that is all of them, but that might be why you thought they had a wrist joint as well.

my biggest question is how barbie quality has gone downhill since i was a barbie kid in like… 2007-2012??? the purses were always plastic, but they did used to snap open, and if there was a hair accessory, there was always either a comb or notches that went behind the ears to hold it in. hey, at least she got elbows in the past decade.
They started cheaping out in 2013.
because even though the quality went downhill people still bought and buy that stuff. If the consumer count and sales stay the same even with the cheaper quality the company has no incentive to start uping their game again 🤷

Lol I remember I had an Elsa doll when I was younger and I ripped her sleeve while trying to put it on. It was her in her “let it go” dress and the hole I made was so big. Like most of the sleeve was torn 😂😂😂😂

Barbies don’t have rubber legs anymore, their legs are smooth plastic - stockings slide on much easier.
It's like dressing an earthworm getting the stockings on!

You were right about the first pair of "shoes" being gloves, as you can see from the picture on the box itself they were (surprisingly) intended for her hands

Yeah like I don’t 100% color coordinated. Not everyone has bottoms in every single color.
The theme was pink and green so I think it was meant to go together, just that was the only outfit that mixed both colors.

I'm glad the shoes and boots have slits!! 👍 The ones I had as a child, you had to shove the feet down the long hard plastic boot to put them on, and the shoes were constantly falling off!! 😢 That is a design improvement. The boots actually had two plastic colors, which is new. They were always one color tone. Yes, they could improve them. I do remember softer fabric type purses, though. The cutie mark cold/hot thing was so magical to kids!! ✨️ All in all, it's a cute set. Mint and pink do work together and don't clash. The skirt is really cute!!😍
I actually never had that problem and I had many different boots and shoes for my Barbies. Maybe I'm older because I don't remember that any of my Barbies had normal feet and were standing on their toes to fit in high heels. I never thought that it's also way easier to get pants and boots on this way without the need of slits
@yamisart Yes, they all had pointed toes. Even now they do. But the shoes easily fell off. 🤗

Sorry Kitty Editor, I collect Barbies and some of them DO come with wrists joints. And not just the expensive ones either. As far back as the live action Barbie dolls of the 70's, there were wrist joints. Sorry for the history lesson. I was VERY excited to see today's video. (You probably already guessed that! Lol!)
This is Barbie the morning after the holiday party. The plastic accessories would probably be good for doll customization, though. Actually, just give this doll a total makeover, complete with new face and hair.
As someone who played with all kinds of Dolls as a kid (mostly Barbie's tho) seeing you struggle dressing her is really nice because i always struggled with dressing my babies. Which is also part of thr reason why i liked Monster High more because you could pop off their hands (that sounds weird out of context) and have an easier time putting tops on.

I like the chocolate Advent calendars because as long as it's a good chocolate brand, I won't be disappointed. I feel a lot of the toy Advent calendars tend to cheap out so much. I've yet to see one be actually worth your cash.

My issue with this is that kids, or at least my kids and even when I was a kid, lose things easily. So as each day of opening a piece of the clothing, I would be concerned of items being lost by the child. Especially the smaller things like the jewelry and shoes. So, they may not even get to see the full outfit together. I also agree that I don’t like how you open Barbie and have to wait for clothes, just doesn’t seem as fun to me personally
I want to know if Jackie would ever rate all the tmnt shows and movies and talk about her favorite character

Honestly, watching Jackie struggle with the clothing and stuff is funny to me because I DID grow up playing with barbies and even people who played with them struggled to put them on because sometimes stuff just didn't fit right. Things were made too tight or odd and it was a struggle to make them fit. Everything was unforgiving plastic. But I'd like to see her try to paint some of the barbie items in her style!
I've never liked Barbie, I was a Sindy girl growing up in the 70s and 80s. Now I would love to see a Monster High calender and the use every single item to produce more ooak dolls.

Actually yes, Barbie did have a joint on her wrist. I think the Barbie is called “Sports Barbie” or “Athletic Barbie” . I’m more of dinosaur toys but I remember seeing those Barbie’s in a video😁

Barbie used to be very detailed. I collect vintage Barbie dolls from 1959 to 72. And for example the mirror compact from Roman holiday was like around 5/8" wide and it was made in brass, engraved with a "B", and was possible to open and inside there was a real mirror with a lil puff.
I have never had an advent calendar, but I would absolutely love one. I don't know if I will ever have one, but in the meantime though, I will be content with watching you unbox them.
Other dolls that have the wrist joint are Monster High dolls! 💕💕
Edit: I just noticed the colors when Jackie is reviewing vs the colors when it is on the face cam differ a bit! Like, the comb looks super blue on face cam but lighter or more teal on the review!

I have a Pokémon advent calendar. It has a pop up tree and all the ornaments are the different gen starters. Best thing about it is it can all be packed back up and used again.

i think the coffee cup is supposed to look like it has a knitted or crochet cozy over it, but like the cookies it's poorly decorated so it does look like the whole cup is a sock, I hope that helps with the confusion

Some newer Barbies has wrist joint, like the made to move, or certain Barbies like this one, but with more joints (but not extremely articulated like the made to move).
Don't worry too much about the "shoes", they usually are interchangeable. Except for some rare exceptions when there is some logos or such.
And those were gloves, yeah...they are a bit strange XD
Sadly I agree with you for the lack of details, especially for the latest dolls. I collect them, but I also collect the older ones ('80s, '90s and beginning of 2000), and those were definitely more detailed and beautiful.
Lately Mattel is doing the bare minimum, and the prices are always too high, in my opinion.
The price is surely too high. Maybe I would take it, but when it is on sale.

I was so confused by the hand hooves at first, but the drawing of Barbie on the front of the box shows her with the hooves on the hands, so I guess that's correct.

Mattel used to put more effort into their dolls. Since the 2000s, however, they've gone down a bit. Probably to keep the prices down. Many companies are starting to do that.

Barbie is better then during my childhood years! Her elbows and knees didn't have ball joints so it was twice as much struggle to dress her! And the earrings were way harder to get on and off!

I can confirm that growing up with Barbies and nieces with Barbies now that playing with her and taking earrings on and off you will lose the pegs inside her head or in your foot when you step in them.

Fun little barbie story, tho. When my dad died and we emptied out my childhood home, we found a Ken doll that had been trapped behind a piece of furniture. This pumpkin kid saw his six-pack as an incomplete utter and drew teats on them because his stomach resembled the sows' stomachses 😂
