How the iDF system saved my day so I could still go fishing

  • Episode # 145
    My latest adventure had me unluckily suck up a big piece of seaweed into the jet pump while heading out through the shallow water in to the surf break.
    To head back to land and put the FISH PRO Trophy on the trailer would have been a massive inconvenience while on route to the fishing grounds with mates.
    Thanks to the latest Sea-Doo feature, the iDF debri free pump system was engaged and I managed to free the debris so I could continue the adventure.
    The fishing was great and would have been a bad day if I had missed joining them on another of our exciting Jetskifishing FISH PRO adventures together, definitely a cool feature to have for when things don't go to plan .
    How to use the iDF feature was very straight forward with the instructions prompted on the Sea-Doo dash display.

    8:30 in and look at that rod bend!…awesome work mate. Hey, what is your opinion and view on Sea Doo not putting in self draining foot wells? I would have thought for 2022 they would have countered this problem. PS: typing while watching…nice shark! :-D

      @jetskifishing  2 года назад

      Cheers for watching, it’s always a good feeling seeing a rod being pushed to its limits! Draining footwells are not a game changer for me as more often I have little water in the footwells and it doesn’t take much for a any water to exit with a quick blip of the throttle. I am sure in the coming years it could be another feature that gets added to the FISH PRO, the features already added have taken priority and have been well received by owners👍

    Interesting, I got stranded 1.5 miles off shore last week in the South of England because my iDF decided to engage on its own and get stuck in gear. My GTX300 Ltd is new last Sept with only 39hrs on it. Its back at the shop and they said its a common fault and I need the new 2022 updated iDF gear mechanism installed. This shop have had 3 customers have the same issue since last Summer. I just can’t trust having it there anymore. Might swap to a Wake Pro (for fishing) as it doesnt have iDF

The idea is great, especially as I use a river to fish in sometimes and it can get quite shallow parts, but what worries me is when I'm out at sea in 30mph S/W winds wave jumping and it decides to do it again...I'll probably give the new component a chance, but if it does it again, it's gone

      If buying second hand, be sure to see a service history, also get a pre-purchase mechanical inspection and try find a unit no more than 2 years old with the less than 100 hours so it holds its resale value.

      Hi Matt, thanks for watching, I always appreciate people commenting on the videos, it’s great hearing what viewers are interested in. The new Sea-Doo FISH PRO Trophy comes with an advanced battery system which includes a higher charging output and two batteries setup in parallel. The FISH PROs also have a cleverly designed voltage protection system, for if your battery gets low it will automatically shut down the accessories circuit so you have plenty of battery energy to still start your FISH PRO. I can run the sounder for a very long time without any low level issues, o am yet to see the accessory circuit shut down for any of my adventures 👍

    Hi Andrew, great video, you guys out there have me hooked... pardon the pun. Can you please explain in detail the difference between the 2020 2021 & now the 2022 sea doo, in regards to Carbon Seal re-design (if there was one) and any IDF changes. Also, has the potential sinking issue regarding the carbon seal been rectified? I ask as I have seen multiple videos of this fail and I fail to understand how a ski is designed to not float if a component like a carbon seal fails. Genuine questions as one is concerned to head out to sea hour or more from shore. Thanks in advance 👍

    • @jetskifishing
      @jetskifishing  2 года назад +1

      Hi, thanks for watching, I am more specialised with the fishing aspects (I’m not a mechanical tech) In all my years of riding Sea-Doo, I have never had a fault with carbon seal and I haven’t received feedback within my fishing network of it being an issue on FISH PROs. Regarding the iDF, on some of the initial 2021 units there was reports of a teething issue on a small percentage of units, Sea-Doo made an enhancement to the system and quickly resolved the issue. All iDF Sea-Doo units have the latest version components and from what I hear, they are no longer experiencing the same negative feedback over the last year. If you look harder on the internet you will find a few negative posts on any product… The bigger picture, there are 1,000’s of FISH PROs being enjoyed and unfortunately they don’t normally speak up about all the positives, we normally only here on social media if there is a problem 😩

    Do you know why sea doo haven’t made a 300hp fish pro? Like the GTX limited can’t have a Garmin added. I’ve got a RXT that is setup for fishing but have been wondering why there isn’t more engine options on the fish pro range.

    • @jetskifishing
      @jetskifishing  2 года назад

      The fishing segment continues to grow with Sea-Doo, originally there was on one FISH PRO model, now there is three 👍 Fuel economy/range is a big part to our fishing adventures, hence why naturally aspirated engines are the first choice in the FISH PRO range. In years to come I am sure a supercharged option would be on the radar but I am not sure when that may be. All the ST3 hull units can also easily retro a fish finder and have a LInQ cooler added in the meantime 😄
