Rory was around well before AC⚡DC... and always gave 110% when playing on stage. Some of rock’s most seminal figures, from Jimi Hendrix to Slash, from Brian May (Queen) to Johnny Marr (The Smiths), have cited him as an influence, as have many many more. Rory remains a touchstone for all would-be guitar heroes in the 21st Century. Truly a musicians musician ✊ Should check out Rory's first band "Taste" -- Taste ~ Sugar Mama (Live at the Isle Of Wight Festival, 1970) .

A Rory Gallagher concert was like one of your mates getting up on stage and being awesome, then stopping off in the bar at halftime, sharing a few beers and heading back to finish the show.
Good description saw him 3 times. Brilliant. Loved his energy. Loved bullfrog blues. Too much alcohol. But loved all his stuff really he could play anything on his Strat 😎🎸 .
Has to be the Irish Tour '74 one, and for once, I'd recommend the live audio from the album. The video is from a documentary film and while it's interesting to watch, there's more footage of Rory walking around Cork than onstage AND they missed out a verse. The album version is better - just close your eyes and let him take you on a journey.
This Montreux show in 1979 was epic. After giving 1000% with this song, he still came out and played two encores. You might also want to check out how he opened this particular show with Shin Kicker, it'll speak for itself. BTW, Rory started quite a few years before ACDC, but that duck walk is Chuck Berry's classic move. Rory's acoustic stuff is just as amazing as his electric - Out on The Western Plain, Barley and Grape Rag, Too Much Alcohol, but my favorite acoustic performance of his is Just The Smile from the Beat Club Sessions, which sadly has been removed from YT. There's also a version of If The River Was Whiskey, performed on a Dutch show which is beautifully interacted with the audience and definitely worth seeing. Anyway, THANKS Jamel for taking the Rory ride, there's nothing else like it. Please, keep on...
You,re right Nora. Unbelievable how many young fans Rory has due to the quality of his live performances on You Tube.Good luck from a wet and drizzly Ballyshannon.
There is no question that Rory Gallagher is one of the greatest of all time (so far); but let's also give some love to Gerry McEvoy on bass. He played with Rory for many years and it shows. They play off each other so well; plus he really bangs it out on that bass guitar!!
My ma used to say, that loud music will make you deaf ! Im 60 and apart from a litte tinnitus, my hearings fine ! The shit that bands play nowadays makes me wish i was deaf !! As long as i get my hearing back when the great rory gallaghers bustin his raggedy ol guitar and life is good again ! Hail hail rock n roll, rip brother rory 🍀🍀🇮🇪
Rory was doing it before Angus !! Rory' first band was " Taste" !! And I saw him as an opener in 1973 for Fleetwood Mac, and Deep Purple headlining.. Rory stole the night immediately.. I was 16, and still blown away by him, his music, and his performance ! An Irish legend forever !! Thanks for showing Jamel. Cheers !! Jt's Record Room
Saw Rory Gallagher at a small club called the Bottom Line here in NYC decades ago and my table was right in front of the stage and he was standing and playing right in front of me to the point that I could literally touch him because he was about a foot and half away from me with a low stage and the man blew me away, such a great blues guitarist and a heck of a nice guy...died way too young! RIP Rory❤🎸🙏
I saw rory back up the who at Atlanta's omni in 1974 ! Set on a stool with his mandoline and played going to my home town ! Its was one of the best performances I ever saw and in 70s I seen every body you've ever heard and just as many as you havent ! It was a wonderful time in music ! 👍👍👍
He was absolutely on fire that night. right from the first song - Shinkicker- to this incredible finale. Then he came back for two encores! In between the high energy rockers, he also played some soulful slow blues - Off The Handle is intense, and some acoustic - his brilliant interpretation of Leadbelly's Out On The Western Plain. I love the energy, fun and entertainment of this performance, but my favourite version is the one from the Belfast '84 show - the lyrics are clear, the audience participation is great, and Rory starts strong, slows it down in the middle, then delivers a blistering finale - busted strings, stage invasion and all! Magic! Thanks for another Rory Classic, keep 'em coming 👍
Rory Gallagher, aka The G.Man, aka the Corkonian Cowboy, aka The Irish Wizard...outstanding musician, humble and friendly human beeing. RIP, Mr.Gallagher, you are truly missed by your fans all over the world..Rory and the boys were around way before ACDC, he played in a band called The Taste in the late 60s.
Rory got his start back in the 60's, with a band called Taste. By the time AC/DC was formed, Rory was on his fourth or fifth solo album. My introduction to him was via the album "Tattoo", which is the fifth solo album, released in 73. There was a small local radio station where I grew up, my friends worked there, then I did 75-76. There was a promo copy of "Tattoo" at the station. I now have about 14 of his albums on CD. One of my great regrets is having never gotten the chance to see him live. FYI, the studio version of this song, "Shadow Play", is on the "Photo-Finish" album from 1978. I originally heard that particular album after finding it, of all places, available for checkout at the public library in Waukegan, IL. That album is also home to one of my favorite songs of his, "Brute Force and Ignorance".
My name is Rory too and was lucky to see Rory live in Chicagoa at the Amphitheatre on the same bill as Crosby ,Stills, Nash and Young. That was about 1978. Amazing dude and amazing gig. Today I have a white sweat shirt with Rory playing guitar on the back. Peace. R.I.P. Rory Gallagher, The Strat Prince.
To understand Rory Gallaher you have to listen to what the people who knew him say/ said. He was known for his musical integrity, down-to-earth approach, it was only ever about the music, on stage an explosive performer, but he had no interest in exploiting his wealth, fame. He refused to release singles, only wore denim, lived modestly. He was famous for his gentle, polite personality, and he made time for his fans- always. He was a purist and wouldn't sell himself out. Those are some of the reasons he is underrated but though he died young he did sell 30million albums, basically himself. You can read about his life in Rory Gallaher-Goodfella by Carol Clark, published 2005, June 1st, Classic Rock.
We had our favourites but we loved Rory Gallagher, if you want to see other side of him there is an acoustic video on you tube, his skill with guitar was amazing, Jimi Hendrix was asked what it was like to be the best guitarist and replied go ask Rory Galagher
I'll bet that show would have been fun as hell! I saw this concert on TV when I was a teenager and when he was dragging his guitar by the cord and I was mesmerized.
Love Rory! Asked all over for 'Bullfrog Blues', so thanks for that, couple weeks back. Last saw him Toronto '76, Exhibition Stadium, followed by Henry Gross, Rick Derringer Band and Aerosmith. Always saw Rory headline before at our beloved Massey Hall.
Rory is the man, always switching pickups to get different sounds etc. My fav Rory is Tattooed lady live in Cork - pure taste! Big shout out to you Jamal, love your reaction vids!!!
I ws lucky enough to have seen Rory play live twice. 1986 and 1989 so getting towards the end of his career/life but he was still incredible both times. Pressed up to the front of the stage, close enough to reach out and touch him. A great talent and massively underrated - right up there with the all time guitar greats imo.
Saw Rory multiple times between '76 & '92...every damn show the guy just put everything into it...it was who he was & what he did... Add On - the club gigs were the best. He tore it up at the big gigs - usually opening - but the club headline shows were off the charts. The last time he came to the West Coast I went to three shows in four days - the last on St. Patrick's Day.
Mommas in the kitchen pikin up a pie , daddy's in the back yard get a job son you know you gotta try it ? So I pack up a bag and headed down the road , got me a job from Henry Ford, but I made a mistake and headed much to far and now I know what the lonesome blues are ! One of his masterpieces !
He had to be tired as Hell. That was a workout! Love this Irish Rocker, and you can see he loves his fans. Rory would rather play a small intimate venue with a couple hundred fans, than a huge 50 thousand seat stadium any day of the week. He truely loved the people who came out to see him. It wasn't all about the money for Rory. That's another thing he and Jimi Hendrix shared.
One of my very first concerts (Waterloo, Canada). When the band took a break, he just stayed on stage and played some acoustic blues, then revved up again when the band reappeared. Oh, the warmup act was Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush!
I could listen to Rory's music all day and night. Besides of skill he had soul, feeling, loved th blues to the bone... Please, if you can, react to "Tattoed lady" and "Walking on hor coals". Another nice persone who left us too soon. Rest in peace Rory.
I saw RG three or four times in the late 1970/early 80s in the north east of England UK. He and his band/sound are and always will be from a different time ... when people cared about musicianship and Quality in front of an audience. He was a truly amazing guitarist, showman and seemed to love being there with his audience; I loved that ...

Thanks Jamel. You just made my day. One of my favourite tracks from Rory. We're very proud of him as a musician here in Ireland . I knew you would love his music. Thank you.😀
Plz try to watch Shadow Play 1984 Shadow Play in Belfast. He does the same song but with such passion, adds a solo, he’s in his native Ireland and I think he plays with even more emotion. He gets grabbed by concert goers but he loves his fans. I saw him twice and he’s far superior as a performer and person. Tattooed Lady, Heavens Gate, so many greats by him! ♥️
One of the best ever Rory is. Glad more people are finding him. In my top 5 guitar players ever. Legend. I see people mentioning 'Bad Penny', definitely have to listen to that, Rockpalast version is something else. 'As The Crow Flies' on Irish Tour is another gem.
Rory Gallagher (and Band) is an unheralded grandmaster... thank you so much for that I think you will ❤ love The Jimmy Castor Bunch proto-funk beauty Potential I hope you check it out sometime
Arguably the greatest Blues Rock guitarist. And in a power trio, he's playing the Rhythm sections as well as the virtuoso stuff to keep a full sound. Gerry and Ted are quality too. It's a pity the video performance of 'Bullfrog Blues' in France seems to have been deleted or in Belfast when he shreds the guitar strings.
I had the pleasure of seeing Rory 3 times when I lived in England (yes, I'm that old)! You should check out 'Could've Had Religion' live ! I love the song, but everything he did was over the top. He also did some GREAT acoustic blues! While he never got a lot of love in America, he was a musical icon in Europe! Dig deeper. You won't be disappointed!
The most underrated guitar player EVER. Off stage he was soft spoken, humble and shy. A gentleman. My oldest Son is named for him. Loved Loved Loved him💔
Love Rory, for a change of pace , Try I fall apart . Or as the Crow flies from Irish tour. Rory was so versatile , and there are so many songs to choose from.
AC/DC started in 1973. Rory started his solo career in 1970, having previously been with his first band "Taste" from 1966 until their break-up in 1970. Here is an excellent song from "Taste" - It's Happened Before, It'll Happen Again. ruclips.net/video/qtu9vW10-iY/видео.html
Saw Rory in 79 on this tour. Soooooo much energy, you couldn’t get him off the stage. Rory pre dates Angus. I have never forgotten this concert. I was down the front in Düsseldorf. Just brilliant. Thanks for running this video

I fall apart, Moonchild, Just a Smile, A million miles away. Please!
Rory rules!!!!
Oh yeah!! Love me some Rory!! Gerry was right with him pushing it. Lil Chuck Berry behavior.
I saw him at the LA coliseum aug 1976 gotta react to his "souped up ford"
Rory Gallagher! Time Less! Detroit Loves this! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎵👍. Like Old Time Rock and Roll! Disco sucks Man!
One of the best ever Rory is. Glad more people are finding him. In my top 5 guitar players ever. Legend. I see people mentioning 'Bad Penny', definitely have to listen to that, Rockpalast version is something else. 'As The Crow Flies' on Irish Tour is another gem.
Rory Gallagher (and Band) is an unheralded grandmaster... thank you so much for that
I think you will ❤ love The Jimmy Castor Bunch proto-funk beauty Potential
I hope you check it out sometime
Arguably the greatest Blues Rock guitarist. And in a power trio, he's playing the Rhythm sections as well as the virtuoso stuff to keep a full sound. Gerry and Ted are quality too. It's a pity the video performance of 'Bullfrog Blues' in France seems to have been deleted or in Belfast when he shreds the guitar strings.
Here you go...

Bullfrog Blues 29:42
Try some acoustic stuff from Rory. Especially from Rockpalast 76. Also « Going to my Hometown » and « As the Crow Flies » from Irish Tour’74.
YES! Thanks for another Rory Video...!
I Got 7 Rory Gallagher Live Concert On DVD’s Set Also Cds Collection Too My Favorite Blues Player Ever

Jamel has the moves of a true hardcore badass rocker. I LOVE it! 💜
So good to see yas all playing the master. For the record, drop the 2nd g in his name and your pronunciation will be right. Good luck from Wexford!
Saw Rory in 79 on this tour. Soooooo much energy, you couldn’t get him off the stage. Rory pre dates Angus. I have never forgotten this concert. I was down the front in Düsseldorf. Just brilliant. Thanks for running this video
