I also remember that two Mega Man titles were about to be scrapped on the SNES. Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X3 almost didn't happen. They were saved after being shown at the first ever E3 in the mid 90s. It was noted that there was still some interest in the Mega Man series. I really miss E3

The one cancelled game I wanted has to be Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution.
The game was announced on March 2003, but never saw the light of day, and from everything I've seen, it looked quite promising. The graphics looked gorgeous, the mechanics looked interesting and fun, but sadly, development would be halted by 2004 when it was half finished. We did eventually get Shantae: Risky's Revenge and later sequels, but they're not quite the same, as Shantae Advance was more like Shantae GBC in terms of overall charm.
But on the bright side, something unexpected happened, at LRG3 2023, Shantae Advance would be announced, as a full native GBA game, and seeing that announcement trailer shocked me, as Mr. Bozon got some of the original team to finish Shantae Advance using the tools, assets and source code from the GBA era, and the game in the LRG3 trailer looked pretty much identical to the 2003 screenshots.
Long story short: Shantae Advance getting cancelled was devastating, but it's now coming back as a full game somehow, and will bridge the gap between GBC and Risky's Revenge.

For me it was Secret of Mana 2/Seiken Densetsu 3… That one hurt so bad! I loved Secret of Mana so, so much, and Secret of Mana 2 was in magazines being previewed since it was out in Japan already, showing off amazing artwork and the ridiculously awesome-looking characters, so to say that I was super hyped would be an understatement. So from then on I kept checking for it, hoping to see more and more of it each month until release, but then it was just radio silence and I started calling all the stores and asking etc. I couldn’t accept that it just seemingly disappeared from being released and nobody knew anything about this… then sometime a few years later in middle school I saw in a gaming magazine that it got canceled over here in place of Secret of Evermore… which I also loved lol. But yeah it was salt in the wound to see it again and learn of its fate. Then a couple years later I found out about emulation and finally got to play it smile😊…but it wasn’t the same experience at all I would’ve had playing it legit if it was released. Crazy to think nowadays that Seiken Densetsu 3 was held back from us!

Atari Jaguar's BLACK ICE / WHITE NOISE. This game legit looked 64-bits (the developers took the Atari Jaguar and actually utilized the hardware). Great Video! With all the recent previously unreleased games getting new life on the Nintendo Switch and other Limited Run game releases (like the unreleased Garbage Pail Kids NES games and Cannon Dancer:Osman); maybe we will see some of these games in the future. Heck; the upcoming Sonic Superstars; seems to be the evolved version of Sonic Extreme; (which this video has now made me more hype for.

Nice video. I'm fortunate to have hard copies of half of these games you mentioned, and I have to agree... it's painful we didn't get to see these games fully fleshed out and released to the masses. Castlevania and Sonic X-treme in particular were two I REALLY wanted to see. I do have a Castlevania Resurrection hard copy and I agree... they were on to something. Would have looked really good on the Dreamcast.

I was born in '86 and my first console was the Nintendo Entertainment System. I beat Super Mario Bros. when I was 15 years old in mid/late 2002. Before The California Raisins: The Grape Escape hit the stores, yeah I know it never did but read on anyway, Capcom included a poster with Bionic Commando, I believe, as an advertisement for their upcoming Disney games, Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers and Adventures in Disneyland the latter 2 which later was renamed to Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers and Adventures in the Magic Kingdom respectively. It also featured small descriptions of their current games, 1943: The Battle of Midway, Strider, Legendary Wings, Mickey Mousecapade, The California Raisins, Mega Man 2 and Bionic Commando, yes I know California Raisins wasn't released, you don't need to remind me, but Capcom seemed to be pretty far into the production since they decided to mention it as released. I was not sad when The California Raisins: The Grape Escape being cancelled, due to The California Raisins popularity because of the decline in raisin sales in the late 80's to early 90's. The game appeared to have been largely finished as it was given a full review, along with hints, by Video Games & Computer Entertainment: Complete Guide to Nintendo Video Games (November 1990), the “Nintendo Game of the Month” in “Game Player’s Magazine, #19 (January 1991)”, Videogames & Computer Entertainment (January 1991), “Game Player’s Strategy Guide to Nintendo Games, Vol. 4, No.3 (March 1991)” as the Hot 100, and “Game Player’s Encyclopedia of Nintendo Games Vol. 3 (April 1991)” released a complete walkthrough for the game in their 3rd edition encyclopedia. “Visit your local game retailer today!!! Hottest titles for Nintendo!” The mystery surrounding this Raisin game only gets more mysterious as we follow its trail. Flyers included with Capcom NES games such as DuckTales, the Game Boy DuckTales, Disney’s Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers, Gargoyle’s Quest, Little Nemo: The Dream Master, Street Fighter: 2010: The Final Fight, Destiny of An Emperor, Yo! NOID, and Mega Man 3 released around 1990 also included the title as an upcoming game. In 2006, I had purchased a book from 1990 entitled VideoGames & Computer Entertainment's COMPLETE GUIDE TO NINTENDO VIDEO GAMES. According to VideoGames & Computer Entertainment: Complete Guide to Nintendo Video Games, ONLY $9.50, California Raisins was released, was officially categorized as "Crime Fighting," and was good. Especially the violence rating-- only 1 out of 10? What kind of crime fighting game doesn't involve violence? The only thing I can think of is a game where you paint and hang up signs that say, "Please no crime. Thank you!" It's nonviolent, non-offensive arcade entertainment at its most bland. But that wasn’t the only reason it canceled the game. By the time this NES title was ready to hit the market, Nintendo would’ve have already released its next-generation Super NES, making the NES (and all its games) obsolete. This game appeared on the Spring Summer and Fall Winter 1991 Sears Wish Books advertised for 44.95. It was so close to release there was a multi cheat (2 page guides mostly? Some built in codes, plus Game Genie codes at a Scholastic book fair that had guide/code for this game as “the latest hit.” And the game wouldn‘t resurface online for another 13 years until a prototype of this game was found in Florida on January 21, 2003 by Brandon Murphy. After an article was published, game collectors began haggling with Brandon to sell the game and release the ROM, and so the cart was sold to collector, followed by a ROM image being released 7 months later, on August 1 of that same year. So it is a valuable collectors item. But if the whole raisin why toxic things wasn’t the reason Capcom decided to release it. According to many sources, the game was to be released in around early 1991, which contradicts previous knowledge that it was to be released in 1990. Got a VidPro card with preliminary artwork. What this game lacks is a grape with appeal. This is why the undoubtable one of the most well known unreleased games of all-time for the NES. But none the less, a very cool piece of NES history has been saved…
I played California Raisins: The Grape Escape on a emulator and I didn't beat yet. If the game were to come out, this would have been a great breathtaking game along with Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Hogan's Alley, Golf, Excitebike, Kung-Fu, Pinball, Wild Gunman, Ice Climber, Donkey Kong 3, Popeye, Balloon Fight, Slalom, Tag Team Wrestling, Karate Champ, 1942, 1943: The Battle of Midway, Commando, Ghosts ’n’ Goblins, Gradius, Burger Time, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, the Castlevania games, Solomon’s Key, Tiger-Heli, Star Voyager, Spy Hunter, Rad Racer, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, Side Pocket, the Mega Man games (Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6), Karnov, Renegade, Contra, R.C. I'm one of the people who went through the Tiny Toons development drives that leaked and tried to figure out what was on there. I built the code in a few different folders. There were several builds, but none of them were anything you'd call a game - barely moving around the level, with a gimmick of the Toons being forced to alien planets to do... well, it's never explained. In some of the builds they shoot the aliens. Terrible controls and the art quality of what was there varied. "Coming soon" in all the ads was a complete lie, it was never even close. ;)

The original concept of Aliens: Colonial Marines, the Goldeneye remaster for the Xbox 360( which can be played but without the achievements activated and a only the 1st levels available), Prey 2 ( I was really devastated for that one), Pirates of the Caribean: Armada of the Damned, the Xbox 360 version of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, and more recently Scalebound for the Xbox One.
