How very interesting. So much historic information. I've been to Penarth and Cardiff bay a few times. I wish I had known half of what you told. Thank you so much, Marcus. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
I very much enjoy your vlogs, especially those about Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. My father was from Ewenny, and his father’s family from Llantwit - generations are buried in the Priory graveyard. I am looking forward to spending three weeks in May in Wales, slowly exploring. Greetings from New Mexico.
Fingers crossed for warmer dry weather, though I will have my Gortex. Currently in my van near Santa Fe, at 7,000 ft elevation. Freezing / light snow overnight, so Wales will be warmer! My next challenge is to figure out the rail, TrawsCymru and local bus timetables, as well as the tangle of tickets and passes. Great fun, really. Again, thanks for vlogs!
10 out of 10!!! We’ve been to Cardiff bay. In 2011. Nice place to visit. The Wales millennium center men’s toilets are very nice in the main building. Lol. How are you mic’d? Your voice comes across very nicely. Curious of mic brand, wired or wireless. Super cool and interesting. We had a blue badge guide who lives in Wales that was our tour guide, but he failed to provide us the very interesting information about the history of the docs. Thank you very much. One day before we visited Cardiff Bay I had an Internet friend that drove up from Bournemouth and gave us a tour of London. He took us to the Thames barrier. Which is similar and also fascinating.Roald Dahl is just not a name that we are familiar with over here at least not me, growing up. Even though Willy Wonka was one of my favorite movies, just never knew the creator/author. Another famous name that I’ve never really heard many people mention until fairly recently is Attenborough. But that’s an unrelated tangent. When we visited in 2011 I really didn’t know much about Doctor Who. But we came upon the tardis at I believe Caernarfon castle. Upon return to the USA, I watched all of the modern Doctor Who episodes. Speaking of the interior of Cardiff castle, we dined for dinner there one night and some of the rooms are just amazing. Also featured on one episode of Doctor Who that I have watched. Never seen torchwood. Thank you for such a great Sunday morning.
I use Rode Mics but this time there was an issue and the mic wasn't working properly, luckily I retrieved enough (the main thing is a windshield). David Attenborough is nearly royalty over here not forgetting his brother Richard, who was the actor and film director.
Loving your walks Marcus, thank you. That was definitely the Big Windsor pub, I remember going there a few times around 1980 when it was still the Big Windsor pub. It was a curry house about 10 years ago, no idea what it is now. Wetherspoons used to be Harry Ramsdens.
I really enjoyed this one again, Marcus. Some facts I did know, others I didn’t, but all of it utterly fascinating in the way you’ve presented it. I’m surprised that Ianto’s shrine is still there some thirteen years on - I was a big Torchwood and Doctor Who fan at the time, but it certainly feels such a long time ago now.
I do find it odd the shrine is still there when the Doctor Who Experience has gone. Never mind. I’ll go against the grain of some of the other comments though - I think Cardiff Bay has bundles of character on a murky grey day, so I think you got the ideal conditions here. Looking forward to the next one.
Such fascinating industrial history. I imagine it would look a lot more cheerful when the sun comes out. Although I dare say that a Jumbo Sausage purchased from one of those working man's huts would lift anyone's spirits, even on the bleakest of grey days. As an aside, it's such a pity about Mr Rogers' oversized petrol station - the Welsh people deserve so much better.
Dear God Almighty 🙏 It's more grey than I remember it to be. It seems like a typical October day. You know where I am So I WON'T 🧐tell you it was 26c, and 🌞 in Alanya Turkey, Med Sea region today....🙂 Bye both and thx for the upload...I think...🤡
I always looked upon Dylan Thomas as a layabout and a drunk well that's my view and don't know why people make a big fuss about him you have to look deeper into his life
Our stay at the St Davids Hotel in Cardiff Bay ruclips.net/video/hUpIwxmjSpg/видео.html
Thank you that was very interesting informative. I had a tour of the bay
Awesome live video walk I enjoyed it can't wait to see more soon. Your videos are always enjoyable have a great day greetings from Canada 😀
Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers again.
It’s good to know lots of history of the Cardiff Bay. I’m interested what you are showing! Thank you for great sharing 👍🤗🤗
Thanks, definitely a lot of industrial history there.

Hope you have a good time when you visit and get some blue skies too. Probably, won't be as warm as New Mexico!

@@meredyddjohn663 I forgot about the altitude. We were in Santa Fe at the end of June so it was really warm.

I worked in Bournemouth.
It's not as bloody grey as Cardiff.
Not in the slightest from memory.
I love walking around Cardiff Bay. It’s great to hear the history. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@flydriveexplore I’m glad I found your channels, plus your cruises.
Very interesting history of Cardiff Bay.
Cheers
It's a few years since I walked round the Bay. Not much in the way of changes but still very interesting. Cheers Marcus - please keep em coming.
It's a nice walk (when the sun's out)
Been there loads of times didn't know about the history very informative video
Same here, there's a lot of history in the area. The old photos of how busy the docks were are amazing.

Glad you enjoyed it! Like you, I'm surprised it is still there. I think they did try to remove the shrine but there was a bit of an outcry.

Well done, so very interesting I have subscribed to hear more.
Welcome, there's more local stuff and walks on my other channel too - "Marcus Walks"
@@flydriveexplore Thanks.
Damn! I live in Penarth Marina, too bad I didn’t see you!
It was a bit of a grey day, looks like it would be nice in the sun. I was walking around there for about an hour before walking across the barrage.

The chippy was closed ☹️ The rest of the week was sunny, I picked the greyest day but the rain did stay away.
u prob walked past my flat on roath basin area great vid mate,im lucky to live in this area
It must be nice to live there. I think I chose the greyest day of the week to visit. The rest of the week was sunny.
Where the sun rarely shines yea.
The people are ripped off with every conceivable price.
Yea

@@flydriveexplore a likely story...😉😉
Hi you forgot to show us The Coal Exchange (also known as the Exchange Building, 😃 but a good show anyway thank you.
Yes, there's lots more but they are slightly off the waterfront itself.
Birley Shassey, if you get the reference to the famous comedians.
Do you Cardiff Bay?

Bye Marcus and Mel.
I always looked upon Dylan Thomas as a layabout and a drunk well that's my view and don't know why people make a big fuss about him you have to look deeper into his life
Although, this video is about Cardiff Bay, I don't think I mentioned him as he was from Swansea.
