Between your channel and Acre Homestead, I've been on a binge watching homestead/meal prep videos, I love this kind of content, it's wholesome, inspiring, relaxing. I hope someday to have a home and big garden of my own. I'm Polish, so making your own food from scratch is a normal, cultural thing here. And it's sometimes quite amusing to me to see Americans so amazed that you can make soup or dinner rolls at home, haha. Anyway, great work!

Thanks for watching! Yes, I'm sure those cultural differences add some humor to the videos :) What we think is awesome may be an everyday thing in Poland! Too funny!

Wow, you guys really had your priorities right when you created that kitchen: the sink, the 2 stoves, the huge countertops, I am drooling. I just love watching someone else cook like we do--using the sprouting onions, using winter squash every which way you can, running out to the garden in the middle of winter for cilantro and kale. I actually got a warm hat with a head lamp for pre-dinner harvesting in the dark months.

I harvest this same squash in october, we ate all the way to april. I washed them in water with a little bleach to kill any bugs; kept the steam like 1 1/2 inches long. The trick its to harvest when the steam is complete dry.

These meals look amazing!! Your home is stunningly beautiful and so well designed to accommodate your homesteading and self sufficiency journey. I would love to see a video where you discuss your home design decisions that support your efforts homesteading, like your recent video showing the stacked buckets and appliances in the pantry, your cold room pantry and the propane line on the patio. We bought our property a few years ago and it had a new construction home on it, smaller than the one we sold in the city. Over the past few years of raising animals, growing gardens, preserving and storing food, cooking all of our meals and homeschooling, we have realized some our home’s shortcomings. We are dreaming of buying a larger property and building our home. We would love any input you could provide from your designing, building and implementation experience. Your sweet family is doing such wonderful things!

You bring so much joy to me and this warms up my soul. It reminds me of my amazing childhood from a village in Romania. We had land with everything that you have, pig, chickens, we relied 99/% on that organic food the entire year. And we had a pantry in the ground. My parents still have all of this and it s pure health. They are very healthy thanks to the food they grow. My mother sends me potatoes and organic products from the garden in a different country, where I live now. Your videos & your family are lovely, peaceful. You are growing some amazing children. I wish you all the health in the world, joy, prosperity and peace.

I use a Lodge Dutch oven and have Wagner cast iron skillets from 1940's.
We have 15 bean hamhoc & potato soup recipes passed down from the 40's during rationing and meal tickets.
Other recipes are beef stews and hamburger vegetable soups.
My other favorite is homemade breads like ciabattas and honey wheat.
The same poolish or biga dough can also be used for pizza or focaccia.

You can do it! For us, it took a mental shift from "what do I need from the store for dinner" to, "what produce do I have and what meal can I build around that?" We actually look forward to meal planning now :)

You all work so hard & it looks like your family really appreciate the really healthy foods that you prepare for them, I love the way you all tuck into the same meals, not like here (England) where many of the mums have to create lots of separate dishes because their children are such fussy eaters or will only eat take-away food. I grew up with a mum who made bread, cakes ,homemade jam & knitted most of our woolies. I have the same mindset as her too luckily. keep up the good work, you & your family are so inspiring to us all.

That is so good to hear!! Thank you so much for that comment. We try hard to do well the things we know, and at least act like we know the rest of what's going on, lol. So far so good. Thanks for watching, Reem, have a wonderful day! -Cam

You certainly have a lucky family to have you in their lives, you are such a hard working young lady; and very beautiful as well. What a great influence on your children...

You are amazing! The food looks delicious and I can only imagine how satisfying it is to be able to cook from your own produce. Your pantry is a dream… I wonder how long does it take to stock it up with all the preserves? I understand that you prep those as you harvest, but I’d love to know how that process goes in more detail, what time of year you’re starting and when are the last jars added to your pantry. Also, the recipe for pickling these jalapeños 😋
You’re one of my favourite channels at the moment 😄

This is so nice! I love the two stoves. So convenient for canning. The door just fell off my stove the other day, lol so I have to get a new one. The only trouble is I have to wait until spring because there is too much snow and they won’t be able to bring it in without killing themselves. But it’s all good. At least the top works. I love your videos. Thanks for such great content 💚

New subscriber here! I really enjoy your videos. You're so calming and I like how you do one thing at a time and give good instructions to follow the recipe. I like that you use lots of fresh vegetables too! I roasted (microwaved lol) a butternut squash for supper tonight. I'm going to make soup from the left overs.

Thank you, that means a lot. We try hard to make the content interesting, and the filming enough to keep your attention. Looks like it worked with at least one of you :)
