    • @LightsNcrafts
      @LightsNcrafts  Год назад +2

      Thank you.
      I didn't mask the windows. Since the drilled holes were so small, there was practically no paint getting in. After painting the model, I filled them with canopy glue.
      For the colors of LEDs, it was a combination of yellow, red, and blue.
      You can kinda see the colors at 2:10 in the video.

      I myself am wondering how to achieve that. Perhaps a resistor in the chain between power and light. Even better would be the ability to control the light output with a dimmer. This way a presentation will always look good on camera or video.

    • @LightsNcrafts

      @@peterharoldjanakjr2078 A bigger resistor would probably help, but you have less control, so you'll have to test different values. I also don't know how much more heat it would emit. I'm no electrician either lol
      For a dimmer, I guess it would work too, but it's an extra board in the model. Depends how much space there is. If you put it in the base, then there'll be extra wires coming from the model.

    I can't believe this is the 18-inch AMT Enterprise.
    I know how shitty and inaccurate the stock model is! LOL
    Seriously, though, I salute the people who were patient enough to build and accuratize this model. That's more time and money than I would have spent!
    I think I would get the 1/1000 scale Polar Lights kit if I had the desire to get into modeling. The 1/350 is too much time and money for me, and I've had experience with the wildly inaccurate AMT kit to deal with that thing again.
    This finished one looks very nice.
    I think, though, that the cutaway version built up as a full-model is more accurate and probably more worth the time of experienced modelers unless you want the challenge of the older 1/650(?) scale kit.. That's also the kit people use to kitbash into the Phase II Enterprise along with the 1/537 scale AMT Enterprise refit kit.

    My God my friend I can Remer as a boy of 8 putting those a.m.t.star trek models together I was so bad at it and had know access to paint not that it would of helped.I have seen from the aftermarket companies and thinking how cheap those models actually where.After building painting lighting the 1/350 and thinking about the quality and detail polar lights had researched the actually 11 foot filming model and the fact that it happened to be going thrue a very needed restoration and how much detail was on the main model
    Those days though the model was hollow and there was and ability to break it down for shipment no one thought to include a proper connecting point for powering the lighting if it was fitted for lighting so a large horrible hole was hacked into the port side to make access for the power and how the lighting available at the time was incandescent light with generated witch would require very limited filming time the a cool of period.But they managed to do a good job on the general window lighting and even flashing navigation lights witch would be kept at a minimum but the effect brought a great deal of realistic look to the project
    The overall most impressive effect witch really sold it was changing the front engine domes and coming up with a strong statement to show the kind of power the massive ship well past light speed.I remember it was a rather quick process that was placed on the electrical work that would be required to make something convincing enough. I can remember exactly if one man came up with a very doable and cheap way of making the effect.The electricians now had a working plan and set off to buy the supplies needed to make it happen. First proper sized motors to make a special and amazing part that really sold the effect cutting a round piece of plywood to fit into the front of the tube adding a perimeter of amber Christmas bulbs foe thr ambient light then breaking a thin mirror and gluing random pieces on the backing to defuse the final step in lighting adding small twinkle bulbs of different colors in place then attaching a cage altered to produce thin lines thar would rotate in the center.After making the outer globe frosted to hide the worked it was all finished and the test came.Even gene Roddenberry was impressed by this effect the lighting in the background was the perfect wash then the multi colored string of Christmas lights blinking different color while the rather loud motors made and awful noise the turning fan blades really made the effect come alive.Once test filming was taken there was no hot spots it looked even better on film.But back to your job having availability to the accurate replacement parts that had the detail that close up really makes the cheap model look like the real shooting model and the hand work you did placing the rings at the bottom of the saucer your paint Mike and strengthening the pylons with brass those things would sag under there own weight in a day or just being able to install the two symmetrically of each other I found impossible.But the amount of putty and sanding really shows your artistry to turn a cheaply made kit into a small version of the 1/350 scall I have to say great job.

    • @LightsNcrafts
      @LightsNcrafts  2 года назад +1

      Hi!
      Man... With all the work, electronics and aftermarket parts, at least $600. I don't usually do commissions because shipping is complicated. And you'll most probably receive a damaged model lol

    • @Drachenhannes
      @Drachenhannes 2 года назад

      @@LightsNcrafts That sounds reasonable. The aftermarket parts alone probably came up to 200. Yeah the shipping also is a concern of mine. I'm getting a model of the refit from a friend if that is undamaged i'd be willing to give it a shot. If you're ever up for that i'd love to do it. Maybe negotiate leaving out some after market parts so we'd end up closer to 500 but i have seen some great out of the box builds. I'd have to save up a bit though.
      Half a grant is not an impulse purchase i can do on a whim.
      Hope a bit of story time is okay :D
      When the Enterprise F was revealed like a decade ago i got the dream of building it. As an unexperienced modeller lot of questions popped up. Primarily what scale, how to build it, etc.
      I had so many ideas. Like scratchbuilding it using wood and whatnot. Finally i found the polar lights models and settled for 1000 scale. And as for how i decided 3D printing would be the best way. But i never liked the thick layer lines of 3D printing. there was this new thing with resin printing though. super expensive and super tiny though. So i waited for the technology to get where i needed it to be. And in the meantime the idea of getting all the Enterprise ships in scale lit up and standing next to each other manifested. From the "tiny" NX to the hilariously huge F all on one shelf wall. So here is what happened over the next years:
      At first i got Models for ToS, Refit and B in 1000 scale aaaand i messed up big time. Overambitious, underpatient the models landed in the trash. I sanded off all the details by trying to get rid of seamlines, broke parts, etc. So i decided to outsource that and not build them myself.
      By now things have started to come together. I have started to build some models myself. Got an unlit NX 01 that looks more than just decent. As for models themselves getting those in scale is a pain and a half. NX - B no problem. Everything else is either all over the place (C-E) or just nonexistant. (F) So i got Don Shokos D 1000 scale for ... funny coincidence: 600$ I am in talks with someone who has a modified version of the Titan Models Enterprise E 1000. A friend is currently converting a high quality model of the C into a printable body. I got a movie quality 3D model of the F i am not even allowed to share (I can show pictures of the print tho) And like a month ago i got the Elegoo Jupiter resin printer which set me back around 800 ...
      So yeah i know this dream became quite expensive and am willing to lay down the money whenever i can afford it. I want to try and learn lighting them up, but with no affinity for that at all at least the smaller ships are just beyond my reach. I will definitely learn with the C though, once that model is done. If you want to i can link a picture of the slowly coming F next to my finished NX =)
