What’s poppin’, Web-Heads?! It’s me, MT! And welcome to the Heavy Spoilers Show! I’m super happy to be back collaborating with Spectacular Spoiler Man Paul on yet another super fun Marvel breakdown! This time, let’s do a breakdown of Across the Spider-Verse, shall we? The movie is finally available on digital after all so we GOTS to appreciate this masterpiece of art just one more time. So let’s just get into it!
And right away, as the opening production credits roll before the movie even starts, audiences should be able to hear a mysterious coughing noise. This cough is actually the cough of one of the writer/producers of Across the Spider-Verse Christopher Miller. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord have sneaking in Miller’s cough at the beginning of all of their films since 22 Jump Street and it’s even been included in their last Spider-Verse movie as well as their recent original animated film “The Mitchels vs The Machines”.

Spider punk knew to use his palms because he is cautious of the spider society. The way they trapped miles is how they would trap him… so he became an expert at breaking barriers. Which is why he had the knowledge to share it with miles. He wanted to spread the knowledge of how to fight back against the establishement. That’s why hobie was encouraging miles when Miguel trapped him in the barrier.

Disappointed that you didn’t talk about the ending where Gwen sensed miles in another universe. Plus In the first film she was able to sense him before he even got powers. Both instances in both films hint they could have a crazy multiversal bond/connection and I was hoping to see you make a theory about it.

At around the 8:00 mark you mention that would be the third version of JJJ J K Simons would play but he actually played JJJ on the Ultimate Spider-Man series as well. So if you include Tom Holland, Tobey, and the Gwen one, it would be his fourth. As far as I’m aware at least. Great vid btw!

I love hobie's and miles connections. It's like they are dimensional spider cousins lol. So cool to witness and explore between the prowler and spider connections and watch their interactions.
I wondered if maybe he's his uncle Aaron long lost son (from visiting UK) in his universe... And Hobie finds out he has a cousin named miles in his universe maybe miles dies in this one, not his dad or uncle, some way where even though he was like 14 or 15 he saved someone but died in the process) so he sees his cousin as spiderman, alive, and he never got a chance to know any family (maybe uncle Aaron is in jail an went bad off after his miles dies,and he looked up to Miles not listening and doing his own thing aka saving someone as a kid aka uncle Ben trying to stop that dude from using the gun,they both knew this isn't what everyone would tell them their "supposed" to do,but does it anyway ala the anarchy of it all appealed to him heavily)and he wants to make sure our miles knows everything he can do to protect himself. I dunno just a theory. 😂

Such a beautiful film with love and thought given to the history of the Spiderverse and all its characters including Gwen and Miles. The equal treatment of the Spider Women is much appreciated as it is *completely missing* from the entire series of Spider Man live action films everyone of which is just a Peter Parker Fan Service at everyone else's expense.

Mine was Ghost Rider Vol 2 the 1st appearance of Danny Ketch and because of that he has always had a huge place in my heart.
