    - Lv60 Raichu (Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder, Rain Dance)
    - Lv58 Dragonite (Dragon claw, Ice Beam, Fire Blast, Safeguard)
    - Lv59 Nidoking (Rock Slide, Earthquake, Blizzard, Megahorn)
    - Lv58 Venasaur (Razor Leaf, Giga Drain, Frenzy Plant, Sleep Powder)
    - Lv58 Gyarados (Dragon Dance, Double Edge, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam)
    - Lv58 Alakazam (Psychic, Shock Wave, Future Sight, Calm Mind)

    My FireRed team was actually pretty similar, or at least half similar. I had Nidoking, Snorlax and Lapras, but my other three Pokemon were Charizard, Hitmonchan and Aerodactyl.
    In LeafGreen I had a more carefree team, with Venusaur, Raticate, Beedrill, Gyarados, Flareon and Hypno.

    My take on your suggestions:
    Start with Venusuar but turn it into an HM slave after mid-game. (Strength, Cut, Rock Smash, & Flash.) However if you do keep it as a fighter, you def dont teach it all grass moves. You need coverage. Sleep Powder, Giga Drain, Return, & Earthquake.
    Nidoking is a strong choice, and your moveset would line up well with an Adament nature. Can't go wrong if you go this route, however I do think he is overrated end game.
    Dont bother with Alakazam. Go with Starmie instead. Moveset of Psychic, HM Surf, Ice Beam, & Thunderbolt. This is your special sweeper, and you can practically solo the game with just Starmie. If you dont have access to Starmie in Fire Red, go with Lapras. I see you already touched on Lapras later, but Starmie is the better option.
    Dodrio is the best non-legendary flyer in the game. If you chose to play without legendaries, you nailed this one! However, if legendaries are an option. Pick up Zapdos!
    You also nailed the Snorlax. A good choice to any team with STAB Body Slam and Ghost coverage while being immune with Shadowball. Rest is a must. I personally like to run either Yawn or Sleep Talk, just so your rest isn't totally one-sided. If you didnt want to run Rest at all, Earthquake & Brick Break works well on Snorlax.
    Let's go back over the four we are taking:
    Venusaur - HM Strength, HM Cut, Sleep Powder, Giga Drain (I opted to use other hm slaves for temporary flash & rock smash)
    Starmie - HM Surf, Ice Beam, Psychic, Thunderbolt
    Snorlax - Yawn, Rest, Body Slam, Shadowball
    Zapdos - HM Fly, Thunderbolt, Drill Peck, Steel Wing
    My Next two picks are very popular but often misused. Both have a very high physical attack but not-so-stellar sp attack, so we'll focus on the strengths. Here are their movesets
    Gyarados - Dragon Dance, Return, Earthquake, Hydro Pump
    Dragonite - Dragon Claw, Aerial Ace, Brick Break, Hyper Beam
    Starmie, Zapdos, & Snorlax can take on almost everything in game. Venusuar helps you early mainly, but Sleep Powder will always be strong. If you can use sleep powder or Snorlax's yawn then switch Gyarados in to set up a double Dragon Dance risk-free, Return & Earthquake 1shot most pokemon of similar level. Dragonite is bulky with good sp attack but fantastic physical attack. Even a base 60 STAB Aerial Ace with that high attack wrecks! Plus you can't miss with it. Brick Break covers your Ice Type Weakness, and Hyper Beam is a nuke when in a bind.

    Couple of notes here for you, its not bad team building but it could be better
    venusaur- id probably skip sleep powder and go sunny day because sunny day + solar beam is a strong set up BUT the other option is to lean into diversity, you can use him as a mixed sweeper
    Nidoking/Nidoqueen (you can catch one earlier before brocks gym) i think as well with this you can switch up the moves they are both diverse pokemon so they dont need to lean into physical stats
    Alakazam - i mean i prefer to use him when the elemental punches are in play (emerald) kadabra still isnt a bad, also jynx is much better than mr mime but personally i would use gengar because of access to thunderbolt and psychic
    Dudrio - i mean its the best statistically at flying types but it appears later in the game where really its only use is bruno, consider aerodactyl if you are waiting or fearow if not
    Lapras - its hard to argue against lapras its a great mon personally never used one in game because i prefer other typing
    Snorlax - its another well its the best in the game but does the same deal as having legendary imo
    missing mons
    Fighting type!!! while they suck in this generation you really need one or a good fighting move
    magneton - i would redo the team to fit him on here they are deadly as the only steel type so far
    eeveelution - i dunno i feel the eeveelution fills a team
    consider listing alternatives - some people might prefer a bit variety to the basic team
    Thoughts for content, try unique teams, think that i mean with any calculation you could figure this team out people love these games and they have a lot of replayablity try a YOU NEVER TRIED THIS VENASAUR TEAM etc and build a challenging team, try pitching mons with good stats but troubling moves or vice versa
    hope all is well

    I just started playing LeafGreen with Venusaur and before I watched this I had already caught Nidoking (was gonna be Nidoqueen until I saw that 1% Nidoran male) and Alakazam (was gonna be Gengar til I remembered I already had two poison types). I had Fearow but replaced him with Doduo since he gets Tri attack.
    I had my heart set on a different water type but after some digging it turns out Lapras is the only one who learns Ice Beam by level up and it's a gift and I don't want to waste too much time going through all the trouble, so Lapras it is! I'm still unsure about my 6th member but Snorlax is a very great option. Though I'd rather not completely copy this list. I'll consider using my fossil Kabutops but I also need to make sure Kabutops works well with the team.

    So I see a lot of videos for best teams saying to evolve Nidorino into Nidoking as soon as you get the Moon Stone in Mt. Moon but the problem with that is it makes him vulnerable to Misty's Water-types. Yes I know it's a fully evolved pokemon with greats stats but I always evolve my Nidorino AFTER Misty that way I don't have that water weakness while fighting her.

    • @OaksLab848
      @OaksLab848  4 месяца назад +1

      This is actually really interesting to me. While I agree that the type disadvantage is massive, the stat increase might make up for this. Although more vulnerable, Nidoking has much higher attack and speed than Nidorino which may allow it to outspeed and KO some of Misty’s Pokémon before taking super effective damage. The pros vs cons of this are potentially complex enough for their own video one day 😅

    • @SilverPhoenix57
      @SilverPhoenix57 4 месяца назад

      @@OaksLab848 that would be really interesting to watch.
      One point as well is that if you didn't pick Charmander or you picked up a Pikachu in Viridian Forest to use against Misty then my earlier point becomes mute.
      However, I tend to go with Charmander most times while also catching a Pikachu & not evolving my Nidorino until after Misty regardless.

      No place for sleep powder?

  • @numbernumber25
    @numbernumber25 Год назад

    Yeah, sounds like a well built team. The only thing I would say is that I do not think Megahorn is necessarily my first choice for a move to keep for Nidoking, This is mostly because Nidoking has a wide selection of TMs. The other reason is just after Sabrina you kind of do not face any other psychic pokemon aside from Lorei's two pokemon, so you could give Nidoking after that point a move to hit a different type.
    I originally was going to suggest an electric move, since there are a lot of flying types, but actually already had two to cover on electric moves. So instead you could probably go for either Surf or Ice Beam, the main reasoning being that the Lance fight will be rough so an extra pokemon using ice beam would be nice. Also depending on what pokemon you encounter and what level your Lapras is, there is a slight risk of a speed disadvantage so Lapras may take a few extra hits. Similar thing with Surf where Nidoking can assist if Lapras somehow goes down when fighting agaisnt Blaine and Giovanni. Everything else looks good though.

    • @OaksLab848
      @OaksLab848  Год назад +1

      Thanks for checking out the team! I like your reasoning here for subbing another move for megahorn. This was definitely here mostly for psychic types and opponents such as Exeggutor in the champion fight if needed. Between surf/ ice beam I’d probably opt to teach IB. Surf is a nice option however most of Giovanni’s Pokémon have a ground weakness which would be stronger on Nidoking as a physical stab move. IB could definitely be useful against Lance although I’m not sure how much stronger this would be than rock slide

      @@OaksLab848 I mean for damage calculation I usually just use Pokemon Showdown's Damage Calculator. They should have settings there to adjust for you playing a Pokemon Advanced game, as well as for the level of each pokemon involved. You could type in Nidoking for the pokemon on the left side, just make sure that you click on Blank Set. Same for Dragonite on the right side. Then below the stats should be pokemon moves, type in name of the moves. Then at the top of the page the moves you put in should show up and they will show percentages on how much of the opponet's health each move will deal.
