This movie is not just a movie, it's an experience. I've seen it multiple times. The first time I saw it, the very next day I went BACK to the theaters and saw it with a friend, who stood up and applauded at the end...she'd loved it that much! It's amazingly captivating. A "must see" for sure.
NikNik480 Same here. I saw it on a Friday. Couldn't stop thinking about it all weekend. Went to see again the following Sunday. And then more times after that.
I'm glad they make a movie about the people who help you, who throw you a lifeline... so many heroes in life who do small things that can save your life.
This movie “moved” me. I’ve seen so many movies in my 42 yrs on this earth but few actually move me. This one did and it will forever “move” me every time I watch it. I loved it ❤️
I think the only actor of the cast that could really win an award is Mahershala Ali for beso supporting actor, he is killing it this award season, but i really want Trevante to get nominated, his performance was so emotional. For me the best movie of the year alongside Manchester by the sea, i hope it wins best picture, but La la land is coming strong, i mean its a beautifully made movie, but if it wins, its because is less indie that moonlight and manchester bts.
When Janelle Monáe started speaking, it sounded like she was doing the ol' classic set up monologue/speech before breaking into song in those old classic songs. Something like Aretha Franklin would do before a song
Moonlight was a good movie. I saw it for film class. A24 is supposed to get Oscar nominated unless they are really bizarre movies. Oscars have done it right. They should have said Moonlight when they opened it the first time
He[Barry Jenkins] nervously distract my interest to hearing/listening with use of hand gesture. I focus on the quality of being an effective Speaker. To me it's essential to stimulate my listeners to hear/listen with very limited distractions.
Can anyone tell me why Mahershala Ali's character (Juan) just disappears during the film never to return? Chiron returns to the home he stayed and spends time there but where is Juan?
I found the movie so simple and full of nothing but these people make it seem so grand that I can only think I'm just not that sensibile to see something great in a movie that actors barely have dialogues and live cliche situations.
Naomie Harris deserves an Oscar nomination for her performance. She was amazing. She was almost unrecognizable in this part.
She was nominated...
I wish the young actor that played teenage Chiron was there he was so amazing he made this movie him and the young actor too
Agree. His performance was so amazing. Cant forget
Trevante Rhodes. Beast.
NikNik480 KILLED. The eyes in that scene had an entire convo.
Sexy beast

This entire cast is a revelation. Can't get the images from this film out of my head. Bravo to Mr. Jenkins.
This movie is like a continuous crescendo that peaks and peaks until the very last scene.
Trevante Rhodes did amazing act in this masterpiece
He is good looking and athletic with perfect emotions performances
Best movie of the year by far. Barry deserves a nomination for best Director, Writer, and Best Picture.
Rest assured, he will get all of those
He did.
And he won Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay!
two outta three ain't bad :)

Kudos to everyone involved. Definitely the best picture of 2016.
Barry is a fucking genius.
Jenkins is going to make it this year...
He certainly deserves to.
I could literally listen to Barry Jenkins speak all day long. Wow.
I love Barry. He's full of life.
as an avid fan of janelle's music, after she spoke, it totally made sense to me why this was her role, like as if it was perfect for her
I'm sure the producer received healing as he directs the actress to play the part of his mother.
Such a well researched, organised and intelligent interview

Glorious, beautiful movie. Congratulations to MOONLIGHT!
Naomi's accent got me by surprise. I didn't expect it based on the movie.

Oscar nominees/winners here
I loved this movie
3 years later and i’m still wondering why y’all snubbed Trevante
and Ashton. He was the teenage Chiron.

Holy shit. I would've never guessed she wasn't American.
Jeremy Kleiner looks like lord farquaad 😁

Cathrina Oshinowo juan died, both theresa and paula mentioned it...most likely bc of the drug business
Sorry folk"s Black returns but no Juan?
