Alright!!! King of the Monsters. One of my top five titles ever for the Neo-Geo AL82. I was there at launch date at my local Dairy Queen restaurant in Paramus, NJ back in 1991 to play this game with my brother. The line to play it was 10 players long and having their coins on the machine reserving their spot to play. Me and my brother always played on Co-Op, and having a blast doing so bro. Our local distributor made a huge amount of money with this game and rightfully so with this gem. Interestingly, I use to have discussions with the distributor of these Neo-Geo MVS units. He would explain to me that the MVS kits that they insert into the machines were not anywhere at all cheap. The cost for them were quite astronomical going around the four figure range depending on the game. He said there's a reason why you're better off buying an AES where the game carts were around $200-$250 each. After hearing that, I can understand way the Neo-Geo was quite expensive. I'm sorry for my bad English. Until now, in this game melee weapons (biting Zeon) lost to CP in repeated hit competitions, and only ranged weapons could win. "In other words, Atom with a powerful long-range weapon is the strongest!", but Mr. Geon is strong.
The second one is better imo because it is more of a side scroller beat'em up and there is much more to do like there is more varied locations and the art and sprite work is a huge step up from the first one.

The art works of this game, especially the graphics, look absolutely amazing 😺👍.
I won't lie, the station collapse ending was a pretty smart and different move, so points to the devs for coming up with that.

In King of the monsters snk they forgot to add two characters like Bulga (the giant turtle) and Dino Mech.

Sequel is definitely closer to a sideways brawler and feels slicker, but the grappling still has big problems (video soon!)
