    • @EvilParagon4
      @EvilParagon4 Год назад +43

      The problem is the Minecraft community doesn't really understand how these mob votes work.
      You're not voting on one of three cool things to add, you're voting on one of three binned ideas Mojang has already tossed out, but they're giving the community the ability to save one of them.
      If it was an unquestionably good idea, Mojang would add it anyway. For instance, there is zero chance that if glow squids didn't win, that glowing signs wouldn't have been added anyway. Simply look at how the freeze effect was still added to the game, despite the mob that would have inflicted cold damage on the player losing the vote.
      So, the mob vote is asking you to save one of three bad ideas, not giving you the option to get one of three great ideas.
      And therefore, Mojang doesn't want to give you three. They'd rather give you zero. They don't want to add any of them, especially over time.

    1:27 The only reason the phantom turned out as a "mistake" is because of the way mojang implemented them, the phantom would be far less annoying if Mojang did the bare minimum and made them require light level 0 to spawn above a block and even so, much more could've been done to make the phantom an actual mob and not a random annoyance.

    What’s killing Minecraft is Mojang, all the new rules and censorship being enforced by Microsoft, deleting old accounts, banning certain servers and mods, they’re burning the whole thing to the ground right now, they’re even making it harder to go back and play older versions of the game now because they “don’t have the important safety features” so it feels like I can’t even go back and play the game I bought 12 years ago

      @@idkmyname5893 They already are picking the mobs. I still think the idea of mob votes is fun. It engages the community and brings traffic to the game and to specific update.
      What I am saying is that - as they clearly are not stopping the idea, there could be ways to make it more engaging and actually matter. They are already picking the mobs and creating the features for specific ones. Having whole roster available would actually give us a better illusion of a choice and it would mean they would stop giving us sub-fun options, like for example Tuff Golem.
      You are proposing expanded input from the community, which isn't the worst idea - but it's kinda already a thing with the unfinished releases of the updates. With players giving their opinions through official channels (like previously Minecraft Reddit).

Maybe one year make a contest where people have to program a mob that didn't win from the mob votes, explain features etc and upload it as video, then submit it in a form with the link for the public to review, etc. Diverse ways a mob can be used will be explained and presented, and it would be an amazing way to connect with the community and get everyone talking and debating.

    One problem with Minecraft (Survival Mode) is it's progression system. Mods like Maljusz's progressive difficulty ,which makes mobs harder after entering the Nether, and again after entering the End are a good fix at least for single player. Another problem is more general, and that's the fanbase is split and the more mob and biome votes that are done the more split it becomes. Mojang should focus on improving existing items, and making the game possible to run without mods. Other things they could do is make more mob variants, and incorporate things they promised to add but haven't. A full update that addresses the community's biggest problems would if done well bring old players back, and hopefully entice new players.

    I was obsessed with minecraft dungeons. I played for at least a few months and returned multiple times. I played the entire game with my brother the day it came out, and I cherish that memory.
    However. I look back on what the game really was, and I just feel dissapointed. So many people, myself included, have wanted more rpg elements in minecraft and that's basically what dungeons was. Tangible enchantments, numerous weapons that allow for countless approaches to combat. It had so many features I wanted in the real minecraft, but it missed the crucial detail of being like minecraft. Sure, there's creepers and dirt blocks, but that's basically where the similarities end. Zero mining, zero crafting, just grinding. But it's spinoff, what more could you expect? Hmm, game balance, maybe. At launch, fighters bindings with radiance made you unkillable, anything less than that and the game was a slog to play through (it didn't help that fighter's bindings were one of the most unfun items to grind for). Apocalypse+ was a total joke when it released, to even beat the mid level difficulties you need a slow gimmick build, and had to inch through levels one enemy at a time. The pickaxe meta, whirlwind meta, tempest knife meta (a paid dlc only item) you can't expect every option to be viable, but to have a fun experience you had to pick certain weapons. The camp merchants were practically useless at launch, but they only got upgraded to be useful after the majority of players wrote the game off. The tower was dissapointing, it didn't even have multiplayer at launch in a game that heavily incentivizes playing with friends. Minecraft dungeons was a huge missed opportunity, to this day I pray they will add just a weapon or a mob to the real minecraft, but I don't think they plan on utilizing their troves of premade content anytime soon.

    • @willowshake023
      @willowshake023 Год назад +13

      The last one's literally a walking grindstone
      I think the only problem with the phantoms is their absolutely terrible spawn mechanic when you have to wait 3 days (an hour) without sleeping in order for them to appear. This is annoying because intended encounter with those guys is unnecessarily time consuming and frustrating, but when you do not intend for them to spawn it gets even worse: they assemble into massive hordes to basically torture you. "Just sleep" doesn't solve the issue because we don't have a way to sleep and not change the spawnpoint. Hostile mobs are already here to punish a player for no sleeping, there was no need in this atrocity.
      At the same time you can't just turn phantoms off and live peacefully since they have a cool drop: the phantom membrane, which can be used to repair elytras and make slow falling potion (a must have when you travel in the End)

    • @el_gatoNegro
      @el_gatoNegro Год назад +7

      At least the hovering inferno is a mob that only spawns in nether fortresses while those anonnying flying rib cages spawn in the overworld, a dimension where 99.9% of players build their bases in there and they spawn after not sleeping for 3 days, the game litterally punishes its players for not skipping the challenges of night time (which doesn't make any f*cking sense). The phantoms existence is mostly Mojang's fault why? Because the entire concept of that mob doesn't make any logical sense at all. For example, games like dark souls or elden rign offers its players some mini bosses that can be skipped all together, logically those games should reward their players for taking the challenges of defeating those mini bosses, imagine if that was the oppesite, after defeating one boss the game for example takes money from its players, lowers some of the playable character stats, or the game throws an anonnying powerful enemy that follow you where and when you ever go, and then you have to use an item or do some specific things in order to get rid of such punishment. Do you now understand why the phantom sucks as a concept and as a mob and why the blaze with shield is a way more logical mob?

I can't stand playing survival and seeing villages and structures everywhere that make it too easy to survive. I had a moment yesterday where I learned that world generation is partly based on temperature, and thought how much of a missed opportunity it is to have temperature coded into the game that has NO effect on gameplay/survival. It only determines what types of biome generate in the area. But hey, we have armor trim and clay pots and... sniffers. Minecraft has been taking a nosedive since Beta 1.7 IMO.

    The illager mob you can spawn into the game with commands is the Illusioner, not the iceologer. The illusioner was intended to be another participant in village raids, but was never fully implemented (for whatever reason).
    And yes, the warden isn't a boss and you're not supposed to kill it. It's supposed to be an insurmountable threat you have to avoid rather than confront. I don't particularly mind that approach because it makes sneaking another gameplay tool, but I do believe making the warden a monster that you can deal damage to was a misstep.
    I think it would've been more interesting if skulk as a whole was the threat. Maybe patches of it could track your location with the sensors and create traps or other hazards. Imagine how terrifying it would be to be walking along, exploring an ancient city, then suddenly giant teeth spring up from the ground around you and grab you. Or pits randomly open up and now you're playing spleef with an invisible opponent.

    2:47 This is entirely untrue, there is no evidence to support that development for the Iceologer had in any way shape or form begun, and he is not in any way in the vanilla game and he is not able to be spawned in using commands or spawn eggs.
    The mob that you are showcasing at 2:51 walking around on the mountains is the Illusioner, which is a completely separate mob that was added in the 1.12 update (which released in 2017). The Illusioner inflicts a blindness effect on the player while creating illusion duplicates of itself for you to fight. There were mentioned plans to add him to raids, but Mojang ended up putting that idea on hold for the time being.
    The separate Iceologer was annouced as a potential 2020 mob vote candidate a little more than 3 years later and is a completely different enemy that would presumably only exist on mountain biomes, given that the other 2 candidates were biome specific (Glowsquids only spawn in water deep below the surface, and Mooblooms would only spawn in flower forests).

    Despite people hating it, I always compare mojang to relogic (Terraria dev team)
    Terraria's updates seem to always be almost solely based on fan and Player feedback and those ideas of new mobs, npc's, weapons, armor sets, pets, and even bosses are taken by the devs (Red, Cenx, Skiph, etc) given their own twist and implemented into the game with passion and love for the fans. High quality, no voting with limited choices, none of that.
    Mojang on the other hand has been forcing the fans to choose between 3 mobs all of which serve little to no function and the functions they do serve are either just dumb like the sniffer or just annoying like the phantom. It seems like there's no more passion.

      Those are different games with different developers which shouldnt be compared, that's first. Second is that Minecraft devs dont want to make Minecraft very complicated and over their vanilla style (which is highly subjective, that's why its hard to do), which they focus on, unlike Terraria, which is a progression based game. That's why they limit options of Mob Vote, since the mobs in them are... debatable, especially for Minecraft's style.

    Here's why I think minecraft spin-off games are essential to the main game:
    1. Various different ways of playing minecraft. Minecraft is no longer considered a game, but a game series. (according to Jeb)
    2. Lore. Personally, I am a huge fan of the lore, and things like disc 5 (which btw combines the lore of Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons) really excite me. I am the kind of person who would play a game only for the lore (that's why I played Minecraft Dungeons and bought the Minecraft Dungeon's novel)
    3. Content. Mojang has been known to add content from one game to another. Games like Minecraft Legends, which began development in 2018, were the foundations to updates like the Nether Update. Even the wild update had some foundations to Minecraft Dungeons, since one Dungeon's mob can be heard in Disc 5, before a cut to music.
    4. I LIKE THEM WHY DONT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT WHY MINECRAFT DUNGEONS HAVE NO UPDATE WHY PEOPLE DONT PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THEM THEY LITERALLY ARE THE BEST GAMES EVER... is anyone still reading???

    I see a lot of comments that say “X mob was a better choice” but even if that mob was chosen, Mojang wouldn’t even have implemented it correctly or made it balanced. Take a look at the sniffer, it’s only real use is for flower pots that are super ugly. Or take the phantom another poorly implemented mob that serves as one of the most annoying and unbalanced mobs with the most useless drop in the game. Glow squids were originally supposed to act like a moving light source, did Mojang implement that? No.

    • @dartimes6048
      @dartimes6048 Год назад

      It’s because the Mojang mob team is so small they barely have time to finish the mob before the next snapshot. Even if it is finished on time it isn’t properly tested and balanced.

    yes, Microsoft keeps sticking it in the pie and refuses to stop, so every update post 1.18 has been getting incrementally worse

    I would've wanted Sniffer anyway but it's a bit too hard to find, it's annoying. I'd go for Tuff golem instead but I also fear how they'd screw up the golems so it's probably better in my opinion left to people who will make mods for it out of love. [usually having more features, more fair, maybe less or just a helpful addon unlike most.]

    Why do they have a vote if it’s rigged? Hell, just add all three of the mobs. Major updates come out nearly every year, if the advanced programmers at Mojang can’t make 3 mobs and some blocks in 1 year then maybe it’s best minceraft is dying.

    Very well made video. I think it is less of Minecraft getting worse or Minecraft getting better and more of a transfer of style, size, and community from the earlier days to the modern era. As someone who has played Minecraft for the past 12 years, it is a wonderful game that I do love, but most of the content and gameplay options of the modern community aren't really too much to my liking, but that's just how these things happen. Games evolve, alongside their playerbase, and Minecraft is no different.

    The Warden being added is one of my favorite things about Minecraft. Once you get far enough in the game, you get all kinds of powerful weapons and armor that pretty much makes you undefeatable. In a sense, the Warden reintroduces that feeling of vulnerability that you experience similar to when you start a new world and have nothing. You don't know if you turn a corner and you'll die from a Creeper or get pelted by a Skeleton. For the Warden, no matter how prepared you think you are, there's a good chance you won't survive if you encounter it. I like that it isn't a "boss" mob and it's meant to be avoided. It makes going into the caves more fun and exciting! Also, I really miss MC Story Mode as well. I never got to see the second season to it the full way through.
    Edit: To add, this is a really good Minecraft video! You did a good job of explaining everything for how it is. It really opened my eyes to how much the franchise has been through and how much has changed. I love all the new updates and content! I got into Minecraft around the end of 1.16 and I don't think I could ever stop playing it.

    • @FlooftyZoroark

      @@megadustone I believe Mojang said the only reason for that was to take away the incentive for players to fight it. Unique loot or even a good chunk of XP would make players want to try to take it out. Guess Mojang really didn't want it to be fought lol. Even the XP of the Catalyst was reduced. Me personally, I'm fine with it. (I still believe there is a possibility for a Sculk Dimension, perhaps with its own bosses)

    Feels like Microsoft are too busy trying to franchise the minecraft name.
    I love minecraft. I haven’t properly played in many years but I’m sure it’s still a great game but from what I’ve seen, it’s losing its charm. that being it’s simplicity.
    I don’t know anything about these shulker chests, flying wings, end castles etc. But I’ve always begged the question of why these needed to be added? Imagination stems from simplicity. Now there’s a block for everything, a mob for everything, an item for everything.
    The beauty of minecraft was its simplicity, with that simplicity comes imagination. That is what minecraft is. It’s what it should always be. If you were bored of vanilla then you’d download a mod! Enter: Tekkit. An expansion mod more inspired by real world applications like machines, expanded resources like gems and copper, environments like oil spills etc. why is this fine? Because it’s external. The base game is preserved and it’s core gameplay is uncompromised.

    I will always remember waking up on a Saturday morning, going to the kitchen to grab brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts. Then getting on RUclips to watch The Atlantic Craft Jurassic Craft series. I always loved watching Cody and Joe get into some outlandish situations while trying to deal with dinosaurs in minecraft. That will always be one of the times I loved best about minecraft. maybe I don't watch Atlantic craft as much anymore but I have that jurassic craft playlist saved to my playlists whenever I feel like rewatching.
