- The biggest problem that people have with dragon ball daima before its release by the way is the fact that goku is becoming a kid again. Dragon Ball GT is one of the most controversial pieces of work in the dragon ball franchise. Usually people either love it sincerely or hate it passionately, in recent years it seems that people have grown even more apart from it following the end of dragon ball super. While I get fans resentment of goku becoming a kid again I think there are 2 huge things that everyone misses when considering this new path daima is going in

My hype for daima is increasing day by day
toriyama already stated "if you are looking for transformations or stuff along those lines you are going to be disappointed" it is clear he wasnt happy in the direction the series went after the og db i mean he stated that he doesn't like vegeta and the whole alien race stuff, dragon ball was just about a goofy kid going on adventures with his pals and that's probably what this will be, if you have watched dragon quest dai expect it to have a similar sort of feel to that
I don't think he straight up doesn't like it. It was his idea to begin with. Its just once he goes full on dbz from saiyan to Cell Saga and try to return to gag in Great Saiyanman arc the sell is being lowered since most of DB fans had already associate DB with transformation and battle so it will never going to work and pull 180° later on.
I think it more to said that he want to create more stories with light hearted tone rather than keep upscaling the stakes like he did in DBZ and DBS. I doubt someone who still claim Frieza is his favourite villain and Piccolo is his favourite characther straight up don't like the arc he introduce them to.
Also goku isn’t a kid here rather he is just described as being mini

Daima seems like a cannon side story. Not a mainline series. It's a mini-series to celebrate Dragon Ball and not a full fledge series as you're suggesting.

@@romart03 jabron I never said it wasn’t cannon. It’s not a mainline series. More of a miniseries with better animation than super.

I feel like daima takes places before super but after buu sega because goku’s gi has no symbol on it which is a dead giveaway. Also because I learned from sparking zero that that is goku(end)

@@dylancox2157 Goku randomly falling into that realm with the game board was poor writing, totally pointless. The fight with Baby dragged on. Old Kais plan for SS4 made no sense, how did he even know Goku would have a view of the Earth, or that the Earth could be used as a moon, or that SS4 even existed? The ending sucked too, why did baby get forced out of Vegeta, could have used an explanation. Animation was mostly bad, few if any interesting fight sequences, when compared to the 17 Saga, and especially DB or DBZ. Piccolo randomly showing up and dying lacked emotional context since we hadn't seen him all series long, and it seemed a little unnecessary since they could have simply destroyed the balls after finding them again

I'm kinda anti hype for daima. I'm open to being impressed but if it's prior to super, then it's events largely don't matter. If it's after super, I'm just waiting for them to let goku be an adult again.

Daima feels like another Goku time to me. I know GT did great with Vegeta when they used him and finally give him ssj4. I feel like Daima is getting ready to sideline Vegeta worse than GT. I know us Vegeta fan boys need to give up on the prince getting a main boss W, but it's so hard 😅

Goku (and everyone else) being a kid again signals a lot of what they're going for at a glance. I personally feel like they could've made a narrative reason to depower/rebalance everyone without making them kids. (Technically they aren't kids in the same way GT did it cause Goku and Vegeta's tails apparently didn't grow back. So I guess really they just made everyone small/chibi. Probably gonna be something about the villain having a height complex...again.) Giving Goku back the Power Pole would be enough for me to understand at a glance that the power is being scaled back. But it does also mean that nobody who wouldn't want to see "Weakened Adult Goku" or any of the other characters will have to. Besides the fact that there was probably still more Super planned while this was being cooked up, I kinda imagine that's a reason why it doesn't take place after Super. I can't imagine people would be able to keep their finger off the Ultra Instinct button unless there is no way it could be an option.
My only gripe about him being a "kid" again is that you can't really use his (or any of the other characters) adult proportions in the action. So scaling the power back loses a bit of meaning for me and what I would like to see. I'm just happy with him being depowered. Its really hard to justify a threat with him around and you can't really build a story without suspending a lot of disbelief even with pre-Super Goku. They understood that fact with both GT and Super but took it in opposite directions. Super imo, dropped the bag (needlessly I might add) with going so hard on pushingup the power scale but people still eat it up.

Another time, he is all grown up now and to disregard that just to cater to younger audiences is just disrespectful to long standing fans... If people have been paying attention all the plot points that GT tried to visit are being addressed in Super and Daima.

I like this direction, the direction that sweeps GT under the rug forever and cherry picks the ideas it had.
My hype for dime is like -100, they should have just continued dbs, there is so much new material to adapt in animation, why the hell we getting a whole new series? And it's funny because the last 2 dbs arc, the more and granola arcs, are the best written ones in a very long time so this dime thing feels like a waste of time to me
I just think people are too stupid to not understand that Daima is not replacing a sequel to Super. If Daima didn't exist, we would simply have nothing this year, simple as that, the Super anime wouldn't come back now

I'm saying that, regardless of whether there were animators available or not, Super wouldn't come back now, it's that simple. And most of Dbs: Broly's team is in One Piece, so, I suppose yes, Daima's team is largely made up of new people. Toei gained a LOT of animators from Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and strong animators, even having an excess of them, and in general, all of Toei's productions became, at least, above average production, despite clearly being one Piece is using all of these new Toei resources the most. They're not making a sequel to Super right now, and they wouldn't be even if Daima wasn't being made.
