    Nicole, I so enjoy your videos, even though I have been growing orchids for over twenty years. You give good advice to everyone. We learn by doing. Success or failure are part of the learning experience. It is a great hobby. I agree with you that Phalaenopsis are not the easiest orchid to grow. Keep up the good work. 🥰❤️💐

      I'm so glad you enjoy the videos, I appreciate all your support ❤. I agree, there's always something to learn! I learn something new from each orchid (sometimes they don't make it but that's when you learn the most, so it's ok) 😊🥰

    I have a huge noid orchid from Home Depot. She is about 11 years old. She has taught me everything! I made so many mistakes with this orchid, yet inspite of my ignorance, she survived! Her blooms started opening before Thanksgiving. She still has 2 blooms hanging on. 😊 Today Feb. 4.

    So much good advice. I can relate to a lot of it. Time is the biggest factor, more orchids more time. When it feels like work, time to decrease collection.

    Phalaenopsis species can be even harder to grow especially the polychilos type that bloom when it's warmer. The bellina and violacea I have grow really slowly indoors, but I'm going to try having them in the porch starting in the spring.
    My collection really blew up and diversified last year after visiting a local orchid nursery and then a show. I have plans to go to the show in March again, but since I have alot to work with now, it will be easier just to focus on that for now, but orchid addiction is real. ⚠️
    My advice is to try an orchid even if people online say its difficult to grow. I have had success with the psychopsis and miltoniopsis which I wasn't expecting.

      Environment is everything! What's easy for some folks is hard for others. For me the polychilos types are easier because it's consistently warm for me indoors. Miltoniopsis ... they are ok till summer hits, I can't keep them as cool as they need it. In short - I agree, just try things, you might be pleasantly surprised. Everyone opinion is based on their conditions and ability to care for their orchids.

    I've only ever grown phalaenopsis, because i had to save multiple of them from various family members who didnt want to take care of them... it was very hard but SO rewarding! I am now really considering getting some orchids of my own as well, your tips definitely helped me in that process. Thank you for the great video, your orchids are awesome!

    If you're ever needing to downsize, I'm thinking about upsizing and could adopt some... I've been super intentional about only getting fragrant orchids thus far and have yet to order any online, but it's so tempting lol. 😅

    Hey Nicole. No I can’t handle 200. lol I’m becoming an under water because I was an over waterer smh. lol. I’m learning thanks to you and others. I have 2 medium orchids and a few or plants so far so good. 😅 13:27

      Completely understandable. We go through phases before getting it right. I overwatered, then became so cheap with water I was probably treating my orchids worse than the Mojave desert LOL! Glad you're happy with your collection :)

    You’re so right about phals not being the easiest to grow. Especially, if you’re not aware they need a cooldown to bloom. Would you link your mister? I’m tired of have to squeeze my bottle😂

    Hi Nicole, when you water the orchids, do you leave the leaves wet?

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  14 дней назад +1

      Sometimes, but I try not to let any water get into the crown of my phals! If I do I blot the crown down with a napkin so there's no rot

    I think the advice about being careful how big your collection gets is a good one - especially as a beginner when you want one of everything. Over time I found I can grow some things better than others, and it needs to fit within my time and space constraints (living in a big city is expensive 🫰)! Lovely chat ❤

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  16 дней назад +1

      Absolutely. If you get too many it's too easy to get overwhelmed and give up on them! Less is more sometimes and you can grow them better with more focus. I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) ❤
