I appreciate you saying orchids are companions. Many people treat plants like objects or decoration when they are truly sentient. They deserve respect as living beings.
Thanks, Dani, for another "From the heart" video to help us enjoy our "kids" more each day! Your enthusiasm is contagious and I love the little "side notes" you have that add a little smile to my face. I am going to be a 72 yr old man next month and am so enjoying all of my "kids"! Thanks for a great year, and I'm looking forward to following your channel again this year!
I have to say ,I started in 2023 I was given an orchid when Mum passed away and the rest is history and I love them. I've lost a few in the way but I've saved a few from all your good advice .I've learned so much and when my flowers grew spikes and bloomed for the second year I was so excited and harvesting my first keiki was another big moment for me its successfuly growing and I'm delighted .Thank you for imparting your knowledge and I always tell people who need advice to check out your channel
My husband is a professional gardener but he mostly gardens outdoors. I've grown vegetables my entire life. I started collecting houseplants this year after becoming spellbound by Nepenthes. Now here I am 😂
After many years of growing orchids, I finally treated myself to the Repotme fertilizers. Gasp! The difference in just 2 months of using this fertilizer is amazing! My orchid plants already look much healthier; and I'm seeing bloom spikes forming on several that have never bloomed! Great quality stuff! ❤
Yep! Repotme fertilizers are different. However, I discovered that, unlike most other commercial orchid fertilizers, Repotme has available calcium in their solubles.
You have helped me start my own orchid journey. Your advice has helped immensely. I greatly appreciate the level of integrity you bring to every video you make. ❤🙏😊
Took me years to find it, but my favorite orchid will be the Dendrobium Phalaenopsis 'Sonia Earsakul'. The run-of-the-mill tropical dendrobium that folks widely use as cut flowers. But for how basic it is, it's the orchid of my childhood. My dad used to grow this specific variety and it hung up our backyard walls. Occasionally, he would snap off one of the flowers and give it to my mom over breakfast
Congratulations on 12 years Danny! That's an amazing achievement. Thank you for all your hard work, experiments, tutorials, flower tours, and EVERYTHING! Loving it 👍🙏
I really just wanted to say how much I appreciate your channel, your time, your talents, and HOW you share them with us. You are not only an excellent resource for your community, but a really good person. Wishing you all good things in 2025.
I totally agree with what you're saying about elitism hurting the hobby. I spent a long time getting my plant loving friend to give orchids a try, only for some snobs at a show to put him off. It makes me so sad because more people getting involved and being enthusuastic can only benefit the hobby, but snobbery hurts the whole community.
Thank you so much for your videos! I found your channel a few years ago, when I still thought orchids were too challenging for me to keep. Eventually I bought my first Phal, and then two minis… and then the D. Berry Oda, all of which are thriving and blooming thanks to your amazing care guides :). Although all of them were inexpensive (less than 5€) they brought me much joy and I still get exited whenever I notice a new leaf or root 😀.
OMG Danny, I love my orchids a huge amount as well. I feel really proud when I have got them to re bloom, or when a seedling I bought years ago has flowered for the first time. I have been watching your Orchid Care for Beginners for many years and will keep on doing so as there is always something to learn. Happy New Year to you and your family. 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Danny, I think your tips are not just for beginners but also a good reminder for those of us that have been growing orchids for a while. I learn something new every time I watch your videos and have become a better grower thanks to you 💖
Thank you so much for all your videos, Danni. I have two mini phals, thanks to you. They grew really well last summer and are blooming now. The standard phal I have had for years has its first double bloom spike! I got distracted by amaryllis this winter which are blooming right now also. Such a joy in these wet grey dark days. I find the best practice for me is to look at my plants every day. Many I turn every day which keeps me looking at them all. That way I can notice what is changing and find out if it is a good change or a debilitating one. It helps me find issues quickly and gives me time to find out what to do. I hope you get renewed by repotme. I am using some clear pots with the slits in them and the minis love them so much. I have encountered the snobbism in the orchid world. It can happen in any area of study though. I find if I stick to doing my best with what I have and discipline myself to only have what I can comfortably care for, I gain the respect of the people I enjoy being around. I hope your home is a source of security and joy for you and your husband and all your pets prosper.
Hello Danni, Thank you for another great year of orchid content. I've watched your videos for several years and you have saved my love for orchids. Moving from Florida to a much colder climate wrecked havoc on the orchids I brought with me (all died). I was going to give up until I watched your beginner videos and the spark hit again. I appreciate you sharing the great, the good and the bad (ants, mealybugs, thrips..) and the phenomenal flower display (simply stunning) Since you recommended (not forced) rePotme, I do and LOVE their mixes (can't do just spag in my environment, killed a few), so I hope they sponsor you again, you deserve it. You are a remarkable young lady, Thanks again Danni
I have learned such wonderful orchid care from you. As I type 5 of my phals have spikes and I check everyday for more. I wish you and your hubby a Happy New Year! 🎉
I love Epiphytes, I've had Tillandsia for years, I've had a few bromeliads, but, I'm just now getting into orchids with a small one I got from WalMart. I do have a goal of growing my own Vanilla, so I've got functional reasons to grow orchids, but I also just love the flowers, and the roots, and the leaves are pretty cool too. Alas, my orchid's flowers were eaten by a rat :/ I love what you're doing to promote the hobby, and I am very thankful for the knowledge you share!
Thank you for your continued videos! I started caring for orchids about this time last year. I’ve been through the growing pains of orchids but your videos have been so helpful. At this point I have four orchids that have continued to thrive through the year with your help:)
Thank you Orchid girl for all your great advice and help about the orchids. I’m rehabbing an orchid now. It looks so much better since I repotted it and give it some water. Happy new year to you and family. 12:11
thanks for all your videos! I've always liked orchids but lacked the confidence. I ended up getting one in 2023 and found your videos. Now I have 6 with two more coming when the weather warms. :). 4 are blooming, one a baby so not blooming, and working on getting my dendrobium to bloom this week putting it in the cold garage at night so it gets 50 degrees at night. Plus a whole list of wants! Your videos have helped so much!
Happy New Year, Danny! I started collecting this year because of you. Looked up a video to try and save a Phal… Six months later, I have 17 orchids (😬)! It’s been a joy so far. And that original sickly Phal has finally turned the corner, thanks to your advice. Appreciate you so much!!
You're fantastic! How about an Orchid Care for Advanced Growers :) ? We are advanced thanks to YOU! P.S All my orchies have names as they aren't any different from my cats and I always tell this to people who are considering gifting or buying them: "They can live up to 25 years are you ready for this type of commitment? Happy 2025 Danni and to all orchid loves!!
I have been growing orchids for years and have very slowly moved from phalaenopsis (no ID) to a a couple species and onto 1 oncidium twinkle, 1 phragmipedium and 1 paphiopedilum. I still love my phalaenopsis but felt I had the experience to move on. They are all thriving thanks to you. Love from 🇨🇦💚
Thank you for teaching me so much all the way in South Africa!! Absolutely love love how you do your video's and just your entire personality. Please, if possible could you do a few video's on Cymbiddiums (especially yearlings) and Laeliocattleya (?) geez not sure if I spelled that correctly!). Hope you have an absolutely amazing new year!
Dani, thanks for this informative video ❤ No matter how long or short you're in this hobby, you can still learn something from established grower like yourself ❤ Happy New Year ❤ 🥂❤🥂❤
This is such a good video! A much needed video. The orchid community can get pretty snooty and I just love that you welcome everyone and make things simple, for everyone. This is such good information for orchid old timers and beginners. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful year.
MissOrchidGirl, your videos are so detailed. Thank you a ton for it. I always look forward to listen to you and try it out. You have so deep knowledge on the subject.
Waiting for a Paph to arrive. 1600km trip, so a bit worried. We don't get them in shops. Before you ask, it's a present for my daughter. She buys orchids and I care for them.😅
Oh my God Danny, Congratulations! I’m only with you for about 3 years but I’ve learned so much from you! Wishing you a blessed and prosperous new year ♥️
Happy & healthy new year, Danni. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I discovered your videos 1 1/2 years ago, when I had trouble with my first orchid (terminal spike and a keiki forming) I recieved when szarting my current job. In March I placed my first Schwerter haul of 3 baby phals and now I have about 20 phals and five paphs. I struggle with providing the right amount of water and I believe i keep my phals in moss on the dryer side or way too wet. I need to figure out the right amount of water at the right time.
Thank you for your videos and genuine passion. I have learned a lot and appreciate your content. The philosophical turn about mindfully observing and caring for living things is wonderful advocacy for being present in life generally-that’s the real point, right? Happy New Year! Wishing you much joy!
Happy New Year, Danny! And thank you for the hard and passionate work you have put into this wonderful educational channel over the last twelve years! I look forward to learning more from you in 2025!
once it’s time to repot your Phalaenopsis, could you make a video of repotting? I would love to see what it looks like for such big plants! I love watching repottings! 🌱
She has several about repotting, including different orchid types and situations. It’s fairly easy to find them by going to the channel homepage and using the search function-good luck
I love orchids, but sadly I can't keep them alive for longer than a year or so. In my current apartment we do not get any natural light & even with my plant lights they do not last long. They start out great, putting out all kinds of new growth & flowers during the year & then suddenly they just start dying off. I still love your videos & have been watching them for years & you have helped me keep many of my orchids alive over the years, but it might be time for me to take a break for a bit...
Hello 👋 I have a question. I have been wanting a Paphiopedilum for a while and I like the one that have only green leaves and no pattern just green because the blooms look amazing and I would love to have one. Also I am exited to go to an orchid show that I’m going to in February. super exited to look at all of the orchids. 🥳😁😁
Hello, Danny. Thanks for this video and those you have done in the past. Your beginner series is really like my bible for growing orchids. I have a single orchid and am just waiting to see how it will do. I wonder how your kitty rescue is doing. Happy New Year to you.
I love your videos Orchidgirl. They have helped me a lot in learning how to care for my little bunch of orchids. I have a question, do you filter your water to get chlorine out before watering your orchids? I have chlorine in my water supply. Also, I hope you got the little gift I sent you (some plastic repotme pots).
If you have an orchid that has grown so much and lost bottom leaves over time and now has a neck with nothing there should you pot it deeper into a pot to cover the naked neck?
26:07 They do bring me joy. I bought my 1st orchid spring 2024, thanks to your tutoring. I'm in U.S., I work in a grocery store. I have several orchids that were on clearance, headed for the trash bin. It is now winter here & every one of my rescue orchids are pushing out inflorescence. The orchids are happy enough in my care to flower again & that brings me much joy. Bonus: I have NO idea what color the blooms will be!
Congratulations on your 12 years I have learned a lot from you. Do you suggest a mail order to get your orchids from. I live in an area that only sells phalanopsis orchids grocery stores. I would like a variety and more description of the orchid itself.
so I just got this little orchid from Home Depot. It's small, in a pretty tiny 2 inch pot. Where do I start?! so many videos on youtube! and google takes you down a rabbit hole for sure.
Hi I follow your channel and have a question about one of my orchids it is starting to drop flowers have new Ketki but alot of shoots would like to send a picture so you could see it not sure how thanks in advance

My 4-year old orchids (repotted) are al leaves and roots and no stalks for last six months. How to get them to flower?
Hi I follow your channel and have a question about one of my orchids it is starting to drop flowers have new Ketki but alot of shoots would like to send a picture so you could see it not sure how thanks in advance
I’m a beginner with orchids. What’s a really unique orchid that’s good for beginners?
Hiiii I’ve been searching the internet on what could be wrong with my orchid and am ending up with more questions. I’ve been watching your yt videos for a while which has really really helped me learn how to care for these beautiful plants however I have one really healthy orchid and one that seems to be a bit poorly. I need to quit poking at them and drizzling water because I fear I skipped one or think it's dry!!!
Thanks for a wonderful 2024 year, and looking forward to seeing you again in 2025!
What is the break down of nutrients could you send to me
