Its so exciting to see them bloom. It is so unpredictable the time it takes some when they say 2-3 years and they bloom right away some it seems to take forever. I have a bag baby one of the first orchids I ever bought that has gotten huge. It has sheaths everywhere - they just don't seem to actually progress to a bloom. It is probably 6 years old and still I don't think it is going to bloom. It just teases me. In my mind I keep seeing this huge flower display. In reality I have a nice fat healthy plant that is probably sticking its little green tongue out at me.

@@randallbenson7966 I have an orchid like like! Is a Hawaiian hybrid from Carmela orchids, it's called something Koko Head. It's huge! But NEVER BLOOMS! it was the only one from the dozen I got from that order that never bloomed and ironically it was one with the most roots! Sometimes it's like that 😅 I'm not gonna give up though! Let's see if it'll happen this year (year 5) 😂

Something similar happened to me as well. I got a Rhyncholaeliocattleya Orpheus seedling in May 2023 and after 3 months it pushed two gorgeos growths with floral sheets. I waited for the sheets to bloom but they only pushed 2 new growths in the middle of the winter. Then in the summer of 2024 it pushed another pseudobulb with sheet and I realy hoped that this year it would bloom. It didn't happened and instead is pushing 3 new growths! At this point I don't know what to do! I tried to give it a dry resting period but it continues growing without stopping. I think that this orchid is just enjoing itself.

3:57 Congratulations on the improved bloom count for the schilleriana! My first one that I got last year in February is in full bloom with 7 flowers since the first week of January! It's not fragrant like everyone says they are but I really like the white and pink color combination and the different shape of the sepals. Even if I get a little water on the stem, I use q-tips to dry it.
For some reason, probably the video format, it seems as if you were reporting live from the Amazon jungle.

Mine bloomed already last year, but I’m still excited to see it’s blooms again. It took me 7 years to get it to be blooming size. Partly due to too low level of sun (fixed that). Cattleya purpurata. It’s pushing now new sheets with its new growths.
How I felt when it bloomed; I wasn’t believing my eyes when I saw the buds in the sheet.
Same surprise was my C. Mini Purple, I didn’t expect buds and there it was. So I’m now really waiting to see what else is going to bloom first time this year 😊 couple of species phals at least.

Definitely understand your feeling! I got 2 different sizes of Angraecum leonis, seedling and Near blooming size. I killed the seedling because improper watering technique, I stem rot it because it is super tiny and some droplets of water stuck in between the leaves... Luckily now the other one survived although some roots didnt survive when I unmount from cork pad to plastic pot, and it is putting on flower spike!! 😍 I still have bunch of phal seedlings like pulcherrima var marmorata, bastianii, and others that have at least 2 more years to go 🥰

    • @NicoleDeanna

How exciting! They will be so worth it when you get them to bloom! On the Angreacum, we definitely learn from trial and error, I was sad I killed my Didieri because I put it in Lavarock and didn't water properly.

What a fun video! I loved seeing how happy you were. Good luck on getting the blooms you're looking for this year! I have a good number of blooms coming up in the next couple months as well. You're right about this hobby being rewarding! It really is fun when you're going through the routine watering and finding a spike, or new growth. That's what makes it all worth it.
I've been considering getting an Aclandiae myself...do you think I should? I really want your Jungle Eyes, though. HAHA! I'm obsessed with spotted flowers now.
Do you remember me telling you in the Summer that my favorite orchid pretty much died within days because it was in Sphagnum Moss and wasn't repotted in years...and I yanked off the new growth (which had mostly died also) and put it in new moss to see if I could save it? It's been about 6 months now and there's roots growing from it!!! I'm so happy there's still hope. I just don't know what to expect to happen with it now though??? I mean the new growth was pretty much dead too, and there wasn't much left of it. I'm thinking that eventually a new growth will form from this stump??? Who knows... But should be interesting to see what goes down. 🙂
Hauserman sells the SMALLEST seedlings! I have a Purpurata seedling I got from them about 5 years ago??? It's alive, but it hasn't grown hardly any in the five years. HAHAH! Never again. I just think I need to set up a growing area for seedlings where the light is lowered to their level. As I've told you, my orchids are all over the place mixed. lol
Thanks for the fun video! It was nice to see you all smiles today.
