My grandpa bought me a dark brown corduroy coat/jacket from a thrift store four years ago, and it had an old mp3 player in the left pocket; I turned it on, skipped through a bunch of stuff I'm not in to, and that's when I first heard Image of The Invisible. Been listening ever since late 2016.
Thats a beautiful story
Best album I've heard in my life. Not even joking. I wish I had gone out to see you play on Nov 12 but it was my son's birthday. Maybe next time.
One of the few albums that are embedded in my mind.
Truly a masterpiece of an album from beginning to end, this album along with The Alchemy Index both don’t get the credit they deserve.
Really glad the band took it more artistic direction since then.
Plus Beggars!
I named my son Vheissu.
If you ever read this, just know you guys will always be an inspiration to him and our family.
Now that is dedication. I named my son Daedalus, inspired by the Thrice song.
@@DwayneCreates Hey! me too. I named my daughter Deadbolt!
@@renaud7101 Me three! I just named my dog "The Artist in the Ambulance"!
This is my favorite album of all time. I remember going to Strawberries (remember when that was a thing?) and getting it the day it came out. As a songwriter, this record is the standard I hold everything I write to. This album has slow songs, fast songs, light songs, heavy songs, and everything in between and yet every song is incredible and sounds undeniably like Thrice. I nearly cried when they announced the 15th anniversary tour.
In 2005 I got the deluxe version of this album w/ the booklet detailing the writing process for each track. Still flip through it from time to time. I may or may not have been inspired to download a cracked copy of Reason as a result but I had no idea how to even use it cause I was a kid (and had never used a DAW) so I ended up deleting it lol. I eventually learned the ropes years later w Garageband/Logic.
Vheissu is still one of my favorite albums 15 years later! Love the songs and Steve Osbourne’s production!
Wonderful band, wonderful album! I've been in love with your band since 2004, and I will be until the day I die. I´m glad I got the chance to know your music because it helped me through some dark moments. Thank you for making music, thank you for sharing your talent. I hope I get the chance to see you live one day, maybe when you come back to Mexico. Lots of love! P.S. Now I know how to say Vheissu.
Still my favorite I listen to it all the time. ❤️
I cant overstate how incredibly I hold this album in my mind. Ill never forget a word.
thrice is the best ever but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘
@@beezybeez4207 okay I will, thanks random commenter!
@@bmo14lax thx for listening 🤘🙏
Yall changed the paradigm of music
Vheissu is a musical masterpiece... such an original and characteristic sound. Glad to know more about the origins of the name.
From a fan perspective, we can REALLY sense the time you took to make this album. It is incredible, with a very immersive pace (I don't know how to describe precisely). Watching Image of the Invisible live was breathtaking. Such an incredible experience. Greetings from Brazil!
My two favorite albums are Load and Vehissu both from my two favorite bands of all time Thrice and Metallica. I can’t wait to see Thrice live in February again.
Was at the album release show at The Quest in Minnepolis and met the band after. My dad took me because I was 14. Amazing memory!! Underoath and The Bled opened
I’ve been listened to this album for the last 15 years. It’s been my north star when It seems like my life is falling apart and feel like I’m losing direction in my life, along with beggars. I’ve always resisted religion and spirituality yet as I get older and the cards fall as they do, your music peels away those defenses . Just want to say thank you for helping me develop throughout my adult life. See you at the end of February.
Honestly, this band inspires me and follows me from the very beginning when I was 16 at the time of Identity Crisis. After this, each album was perfect for the stage I was in my life. There is not a lot of bands that I can say as much. Maybe Alexisonfire too...
I read V and a bunch of Pynchon's other works because of this album haha. He's actually a really great author, definitely weird like Dustin said.
stoked for this freakin show!
Thanks for comin to Perth in May this year guys! I was bummed I missed out the time before because I was not yet 18. I’m 27 now and you woke the little boy inside of me. I play music again because of you guys. I hope to play alongside you one day. Teppei, you are an inspiration to Asians all over the world proving there’s a place for us in rock music. AND THAT ROCK IS VERY MUCH ALIVE! 🤙🏽🤟🏽✊🏽😁 Peace and love ❤️
I need to check this album out. The first time I saw you guys it was at Warped Tour 2019. I was blown away by your performance. I can't wait to see you again in February.
Thank you guys for all you have done!
Amazing band amazing album
Love this album and can't wait to see you guys in Dallas this next year
Such a great record... definitely stands the test of time!
Plus: not only is "Vheissu" in Thrice pronunciation a bit similar to the German "Wie heißt du?" ("What's your name?") but also to the German "Wieso?" meaning "Why?"
Also a fitting coincidence for a band that constantly raises the important questions in life.
Anyway, the bottom line is: Theres no other band like Thrice!
Who else is going to one of the anniversary shows?
Seeing them in Mass. In February! So pumped!
Willie Scott I’m seeing them in Minneapolis in January! Dream come true. Lol
@@williescott5439 going to the same one. Kinda weird, I havent been to the Palladium in probably 12 or 13 years.
@@dragonoftheblackpool6884 I've never been, I live in Maine, so I always go to Portland when possible. This was a show worth travelling a few hours for. I can't wait!
@@williescott5439 oh nice, I've been to Maine many times. I was just in Kittery last month. Worcester MA is a hell hole but it'll be a good time. It's just kinda funny because usually The Palladium is the place to see metal shows. Thrice usually plays House of Blues in Boston when they come to MA.
Hands down, worth the time you put into it
Big fan of "Beggars" my personal masterpiece.. so versatile and great lyrics. Alchemy index EPs are also amazingly beautiful
thrice is the best ever but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘
I LOVE YOU THRICE 🔥❤️❤️
The music gods definitely smiled upon this album. Vheissu and The Alchemy Index are masterpieces that I will be eternally grateful for. We pronounced it vi-soo.
Madrid concert was amazing guys!
u guys are sick🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I approve of the album name and pronunciation
thrice is the best ever but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘
I hope they answer the story behind the artwork in part 2
the best album!
Artist in the Ambulence is one of the GoaT rock albums.
Vhiessu is Water from The Alchemy index if it was pointlessly long with an anthem front loaded to trick people into thinking it was something different.
Their best album to date.
Holy hell you guys are using this again lol
I've always pronounced it "vey-sue".
I've always said "vee-AY-sue".
Me too 🤦♂️
The German from the album cover is (of course) Wie heißt Du, {VEE HYEst DO} and actually does translate to “what’s (or what is) your name”
"Wie heißt du?" would be "What's your name?", but yeah, that question is pretty interchangeable with "Who are you?" :)
isn't it closer to "How are you called?"
@@_jow If you translate it word-for-word, yeah, that would be closer. :) Just seldom (if ever) heard "how are you called?" being used, while I regularly hear "what's your name?"
"Who are you?" can be interpreted completely differently, though.
I'm so bummed y'all are coming to Atlanta when I'll be in Spain. I called it Vishnu even though theres no sh and no n...that's just what my mind makes it when I see it.
I'm curious, if they could have changed the name from Vheissu to something else, what would it have been?
This record was so divisive when it came out amongst fans.
You guys ever coming out to Vegas?
I use to pronounce it as Ve-shoo
🤍🤍🤍
I actually think it's pronounced vih-shoo, but I hear most people say vee-soo, and that's how I've started saying it.
thrice is the best ever but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘
We're getting old...😂
We're more than carbon and chemicals
thrice is the best ever but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘
Wish you would go back to the old ways... nothing lasts forever, I guess....
I almost mistaken Teppei for Mike Shinoda here.
You guys rushed Artist in the Ambulance? That album is untouchable in my opinion. Only Vheissu comes close.
thrice is the best ever but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🐺
Im honestly flabbergasted that every comment is positive. I think vheissu was the turning point in this band where everything after was just.......not compelling. I loved the first 3 albums. Gave the rest a chance...how can they go from the shredding of deadbolt and where idols once stood to where you are now? I just really feel super let down by the direction thrice went. Sorry guys.
Yep... great album, too bad Dustin's now rejected this album's lyrics in his modern views and lyrics. When you reject openly your former album lyrics, it'll look less hypocritical.
This is not happening right now....
