One thing I have learned in battling medical issues, is get a second opinion. It really is amazing how different doctors will analyze a situation and come up with different options. Not always. But it sure is worth a try because your pain sounds terrible.

Dear Malin, I live with scar tissue and ileus-related pains for many years now. Over time, I learned how to make my intestines work pretty well and I only rarely have pain nowadays. For me, keeping very well hydrated at all times is key. I also massage my belly and the external scars every day to keep everything smooth and to notice any blockages early on. If I notice even a slight problem, I use macrogol, which works really well to clear things up. And I try to get in some movement every day, like walking, jogging, yoga etc. My doctors told me as well I just got to live with the pain, but for me that wasn't quite true. So, I guess what I want to tell you is: keep searching and keep fighting for your wellbeing! It is a long process to learn to manage a complex medical issue like yours well. And doctors usually know about the standard procedures, but not how to live with a condition every day, so they can only help us so far.
Best of luck to you Malin and Tom!

I can't imagine a doctor being told he had to live with pain and nothing to do about it. Hate when they say things like that to patients

Hmm, he/she could refer this beautiful lady to a pain management specialist. Mind you! I have been under a pain consultant, and I was told my only option was stronger painkillers:( I have been living with chronic pain for decades, and sometimes I am amazed how much I bear. Go me, 😂❤

If it makes you feel any better, I live alone and am in my 70s. Last year I moved from a flat where there had been a hole in the kitchen ceiling for a year (dirt, dust anytime the upstairs neighbours did anything, landlord and owner clearly not bothered to get it fixed fast). I still haven't found the cake tins that I used to use a lot. I have pretty much unpacked most things, still can't find them. So 'stuff' happens. Well done for sifting through all that you had stored at the back of the van - impressive! I wonder if researching Malin's pain on RUclips would find anything useful - I realise YT has a lot of junk, unproven and off the wall, but it has been a big help when I decided to try to improve my diet and went plant-based. Just a thought. Take care and see you all next week.

I had so much scar tissue after my colostomy that when they tried to reverse it the surgery lasted 5 hours. Now I still have pain on my left side sometimes and it hurts for some days then will subside. Hang in there!😊

Hey I loved the beginning of your fitness ring ad! So clever! Def will check it out. I wanted to tell Malin that years ago before my cancer I had a lot of lower abdomen pain and they said I had a cyst on my ovary. Had to have surgery but when they went in there wasn’t a cyst they found that my intestines were adhered to my abdomen wall. There was scar tissue no idea how it occurred and they snipped it and that helped that pain. It wasn’t until after my cancer and having bad pain issues with rad damage and scar tissue under my arm from the node biopsy that I recalled the adhesion. I won’t go into the roller coaster of docs and being turned away bc they didn’t understand my pain (PMPS. Though I had lumpectomy only but still ended up we pain). I found a surgeon who understands I have issues w scar tissue developing (overdeveloping). I’ve had five surgeries. One removed the scar tissues others removed neuromas and I have improved after each one. Though I have backslid some at times. I am not sure I’d be able to have another surgery bc the scar tissue can cause neuromas. It’s a vicious cycle. And so like you I’ve had to come to terms w living w chronic pain. I’m much older than you and as unfair as it is for me it’s so unfair for you. And yes we are grateful to be cancer free but it’s ok to say chronic pain sucks. I do what I have to to be able to be as active as I can be. It’s no where near what it was (and now i have joint autoimmune to add to all this) but I am an active person. Ride horses (lightly😅)and workout. Walk. Swim. Etc. Its been hard accepting pain is part of my life. I take gabapentin for the nerve pain and stronger if I need it but I don’t love that. But if it’s between staying home and seeing family or friends and a pain pill helps I take it.
As you said it is what it is. It sucks and it’s ok to say that but we do have to press on. And I’ll do whatever it takes to have a functional life. Cancer sucks. Hugs to you💜…

Oh wow what a journey you’ve had! I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through all of this to get to where you are now, even if it meant that you’re in less pain now. You’re such a fighter! And you’re right, it’s something that makes you feel a bit guilty to say that you think it sucks because in the big picture you’re just happy to be cancer free. But you’re so so right, it is ok to say that it suck’s because it does. It suck’s to have all of these problems that lives with you for life, chronic pains and nerve damage is just some of it. Keep fighting to keep living that good life of yours. And thank you so so much for sharing your story with me! 🌼

A good purge of belongings is always a boost, I find. When I finally decide to get rid of something, i never miss it! ( Which probably means more purging is needed!)
How I laughed at the clip of you "sprinting"! Haha! Your sense of humor remains intact through the disappointments thrown your way - keep finding the everyday joy, as you do so well! Sorry to hear you were told you just have to live with pain. Im sure that is not easy to accept. I pray it improves. I read a comment here from another viewer with similar issue and what she said sounded very hopeful. You too, will likely learn with trial and error and time what helps you feel best.
Your crocheted creations are so cute, Malin. So clever.
Praying for good health and lovely times for you all. ❤
The weather in southern Manitoba, Canada where I am has been gorgeous (with few mosquitos so far!! Woot!) and my dog and I just returned from a walk to the creek where we saw a large duck family and a deer.

Always look forward to Fridays so I can spend a few with y’all. Never boring. Love the ring. I can’t not have my smart watch on to track my daily steps and sleep etc. very nice of the company to send those to you both. Malin, that’s crazy that they tell you that you just have to live with the excruciating pain when it hits. As a retired nurse and cardiovascular Sonographer I think I would get a second opinion. Just my thoughts sweetie. But one good thing is that it isn’t all the time right? But when it hits it’s horrible? Prayers it goes away. You might check out a massage therapist and see if they suggest any kind of massage therapy that will help break up the scar tissue. Love you all. Enjoy your wkend.

    Hi Malin and Tom
Just love the stuffed animals so cute. Got no one that age any more sadly. The sorting out of the van was something else but had to be done. I have recently downsized from a 3 bed to a 1 so lots got sold out or donated
Much love and respect from across the pond in Uk x

Malin I am sorry to hear that you are expected to live with the pain and I just pray for your sake the scar tissues soften up for you and very soon. That certainly was a lot of things coming out of what looked a small area though you will feel so much better for having that clean out.
Always look forward to your next video appearing and until then I hope you keep well and get to enjoy yourselves. Xxx

Can you get the ultrahuman ring wet? Swimming, showering? Do they sell a replacement warranty? I hate wearing watches, and i think the ring would be just the thing. Thanks. 😊

    • @malinandtom
      @malinandtom  4 месяца назад +1

Yep, the rings are 100% waterproof down to 330 feet - they function just as good in the water as they do when dry 😁 there’s a 1 year warranty included, or you can buy a full coverage warranty for about $30 a year. Really worth it I’d say, we’re really impressed with ours!
