Jean Paul Gasparian's performance here is magical and mesmerizing. but also a breath of fresh air to the interpretation of this early very lyrical Prokofiev Sonata. Gasparian does have a very strong grasp of the percussive elements in his playing here; but also evokes wonderful sonority in both the delicate and fiercer passages. I am seldom impressed by new performers anymore; however, Gasparian has achieved a momentous feat here.
Wonderful performance. 1:00 - 1:38 always sends shivers down my spine; it conjures up some sort of unsettling yet comforting nostalgic, Halloween-y vibe.
Not certain when Prokofiev wrote this, but I would guess the influence on Poulenc was considerable. Wonderful performance of a great piece of piano music.
I know he is young but the Quote "Please do not make the piano cry loud as a dog" refers to Prokofiev too...shame in the melodic parts he sings well..why so much violence!Remember that Liszt told "Do not want express to much" perhaps he wants to hit the jury ?He has good qualities but hard sound

This sonata is as great as the war sonata. Simple but deep.
00:05 - Allegro, ma non troppo
05:51 - Scherzo (Allegro marcato)
07:50 - Andante
13:20 - Vivace
Best rendition ever- music, not just banging noise
Großartiger Künstler ! Perfekt !

No, this could not possibly apply to all of Prokofiev's pieces and passages of pieces.
