    Director George Miller really takes a lot of inspiration from the silent film era and I'd imagine that helps to creates that level of clarity in the composition of the films. Both Fury Road and Furiosa have such little dialogue yet you understand what's going on without a lot having to be over explained to you.

      My God… These people are absolute geeks and know nothing about real cinema. Go watch the Godfather, go watch Apocalypse now, go watch there will be blood… That’s how you learn about editing not from an action movie. Or at least go watch crouching Tiger hidden Dragon… That’s real editing. This is just smash editing… It’s certainly not the wave of the future. It’s just a video game.

    I thought Furiosa was too short. The ending felt rushed to me. Would've preferred a bigger final battle instead of just the montage

    • @B1gBoyPants
      @B1gBoyPants 2 месяца назад +6

      I disagree. The movie follows Furiosa’s POV. She wasn’t involved in that battle, and the battle itself didn’t really have much to do with the story. I felt the pacing was great, and I think it’s better that they kinda skipped over the 40 day wasteland war so that they could focus on Furiosa hunting down Dementus.

    as far as I remember, the two german directors Tom Tykwer & Wolfgang Becker partially looked them self out the editing room of their own movie, while the other director did an edit of the others movie.
    The movies were, Tom Tykwer's "Der Krieger und die Kaiserin" & Wolfgang Becker's "Good Bye Lenin".

    George Miller should be teaching new directors. Heck, Netflix should hire George Miller to mentor their directors. All their big budget action movies, Grey Man, Red Notice, Rebel Moon, Atlas, etc. could have really benefited from George Miller being on the set to advise their directors.

    I really hope you guys do a video of LongLegs. When I was watching it, all I could think about was the center framing used in Mad Max Fury Road, but it was being used in a thriller/horror film. But it was still so effective!

  • @Demystificator
    @Demystificator 2 месяца назад

    It would be interesting to do it on other Furiosa scenes cause I feel the attack on the convoy doesn't use much the center framing technique. Some shots are split in two horizontally and vertically.
    But the sound is better in Furiosa as it binds emotions and action. You can hear the whistle when she rises from the sand, like she's stunned by the fall and yet it turns into the noise of bullets ; helping to build the tension. That's how, imo, we feel like Furiosa refuses to die and she's gonna keep fighting.

    I loved Fury Road because of all the practical effects. But I'm not sure how much CGI or compositing was done in Furiosa. It definitely had a different look and didn't seem like it was all practical at all. As an insider, tell me the differences between the 2 films... with specific details!
    BTW, I LOVED the action in Furiosa. I was gasping out loud and laughing in surprise through every action scene. I can't remember ever doing that before.

    • @familygonzcartwright
      @familygonzcartwright Месяц назад +1

      Furiosa was made with the Alexa 65 meaning the CG is higher resolution which makes it look sharper than the previous film and have a different feel also because of the sensor size. Plus Fury Road also had lots of CGI and, important, they used low quality (compared to Alexas) Canon 5Ds as crash cams that make everything look dirtier. The 5D shots for Furiousa were instead done with high resolution cinema cameras this time which is also something else...

    The one scene that bothered me was when Furiousa was taken as a child and only the women chased after her (except for maybe one dude). And there was a morbidly obese chick in the background. And if it was so important that no one find out about the place, would it make sense to only send her mother?

    George can blame the first cut on the editor, but his OWN wife said the first cut was completely under Georges direction. She said it was her, who said the first cut was horrible, not him. The first cut was real bad, it looked and felt like a B made for tv buck rogers knock off. I believe his wife...because Ep1, 2, and 3 were edited under his control again, and well....I think they pale in comparision. George knows how to tell stories properly, but doesn't seem to know how to show them properly. Every diretor should spend a lot of time as an editor first. Some of the best ideas I had in film school were germinated out of long chats with 2nd and 3rd year student editors and staff.
