- Hello everyone, this video is about capturing some photos of space from our new remote observatory in Central Texas. The sky conditions out here are bortle 1, so they provide a rare pristine view of the night sky that few people can access. I took photos of Rho Ophiuci, the Andromeda galaxy, and WR134.
Our observatory where I captured this video can be found here: starfront.space/
Our mission is to make dark skies and remote observing more affordable for everyone, if you want to learn more or sign up, I invite you to check out our website.
Also, in the WR134 image, I ran into some filaments I hadn't seen before. As it turns out, a colleague Julian Shapiro reached out to me some months back about how he had discovered this object. Over the months that passed I forgot it existed, only to recently stumble upon it myself a few days ago! Since then, Julian has been preparing a paper on these filaments belonging to this likely new SNR. He will have some better images of it in due time, until then you can find Julian's work here: www.astrobin.com/8n21ke/?q=ju... - Наука
What is fun, is that you can have experienced amateur observers, who know the sky like the back of their hand, can get confused when they get to really dark skies.
Waiting on my Moravian C3-61000 pro to get here from Czechia and my Tak FSQ106 will be on it's way! Everything looking great!!!
Dark skies are like opening the eyes.
Living the astro dream. Congrats on the milestones and wish you all the success.
You're living our dream life
It is pretty great but the lack of sleep sucks
@@astrofalls but we can't live like you 😔
Shapin’ up. Looks like a very nice facility and I know the skies are awesome.
I like the cable management on that RASA. Clean!
We cable manage clean out here 😤
Oh wow what an amazing project! I love astronomy but seldom I have had the opportunity to look through a telescope [worth looking through] but let me tell ya it's quite the rush when it happens.. I'd love more opportunity's to. To achieve "dark sky status" here in the UK I travelled to the Northumberland border to Keilder observatory and honestly what we saw there was truly precious and not just for me I took my two sons the eldest went on to get a degree in astrophysics and youngest still talks about that experience as if it was Disney land he was 9 when I took him he's 21 now. Your right EVERYBODY deserves the chance to escape the pesky man made lights that destroy the true beauty of our night sky❤ this is sentiment I truly understand. Have a humble like and subscribed. It's all I can offer but yes...this is wonderful! Your corona borealis shot is exquisite 👌
Love your recent observatory videos Bray! Very inspiring! I'm saving up for some parts to make my telescope ready for remote control. Can't wait to reserve a peer somtime in the future :)
amazing job Bray 👌
Coolest job in the world!!! And outside this world.
I am super interested but hesitant as i know little about the software/ interface needed. Looking forward to a video explaining what is needed for this.
I figured that, just those unshielded lights are everywhere now.
What you are setting up here is so good for the astro community, by keeping the price way more affordable that most places around the world, not just by allowing more inexpensive equipment to be used, but also by keeping down the monthly cost for renting a pier space. I applaud your motivation behind this project to make imaging under dark skies a more affordable and viable option for the amateur astrophotographer.
(P.S while watching this video, I was stacking 18hrs of OIII on WR134 and noticed one of those two filamentous areas you mentioned in the video, is in my fov 😃 )
We are moving from a bortle 6-7 to a 3 soon. Can't wait. Just a pity that I don't actually have any gear ATM. The site looks fantastic!! Can I ask what the music is called if you know?? Keep up the great work!!
That's awesome, Bray. Congratulations!!
Looks really good. Got finished really quick
very nice and affordable. I'm seriously considering this. I've read the information on your website, but I need more information on some of the more technical aspects about how problems will be addressed with the scope set-up should and when they arise.
For technical issues, we do have on site support. So any issues that arise can be addressed!
Im only 2.5 hrs away from your site now that i recently moved to central texas and im interested in renting a spot at your observatory. I will reach out to you on the website. Very cool you are doing this.
Very nice! Glad the prices are more reasonable, though still a bit out of my range it's nice to see something more realistic.
The fact that the live view on your camera would in itself make a rather good astro picture feels totally crazy to me
she rho on my ophiuchi till i molecular cloud complex
Reserved a pier. Since I plan to send a newt, I am wondering what to do about flats. Will the roof be open during early morning/evening so probably sky flats..? Alternatively if you have a white roof...
Yes exactly! Roofs are open for flats. I have also realized that it is really easy to take flats off of the front of our roof when it is rolled back with the lights on
Bray, I saw those filaments on my WR134 also. They didn’t come as strong during my processing however.
Many people are starting to see them apparently. As far as I know Julian Shapiro was the first to point them out a couple of months ago
How much is it. I have 1 set up in Spain. Still have a few more telescope in Ireland
I guess you need to start a discord server for the users. Most remote observatories have a discord server!
Hi Bray, great video! I’d like to know more about the costs (other than the pier reservation). Can’t seem to find anything on the website?
Sorry, found it on the website!
I can't believe you don't have a down wash light beside the OBS door. I detest those blinding style lights to the right of the door at the beginning of the video.
Well all the lights are off at night anyways, very strict on stray lights here
6:36 This!
So I have a W.O. FLT91 on an AM5 with ASIAIR+, 2600MM/FW/3nm filters/200mm guide scope/asi290mm-mini guide cam. What would I need to change in my setup to make it a much better remote scope? My first thoughts are to swap out ASIAIR for an Eagle 5 Pro? Swap out AM5 for a better remote mount, but not sure which?
We don’t suggest an Eagle, use a beelink mini pc. And the AM5 is the perfect mount for this, highly recommended/ the rest of your setup is great
Do the filaments look similar to the ones on the sun flares?
Definitely interested, but have some questions around setup/logistics/etc. There doesn't seem to be an email to reach out to for info on the website, is that something that could be added? Or is there a better way to get in contact?
Website is revamped! Should be better to navigate mow
how many buildings do you plan?
We have space for 100 if the demand continues
@@astrofalls geez that’s a ton!
How much to host a Seestar?
Bortle 1 or really 2? because light pollution map info shows it as 2, not 1.
Best reading so far is 21.70. There is a ton of airglow lately that is messing with the reading. I won’t trust the bortle map with my life
@@astrofalls thanks for the explanation
Hi
our star tracker--NOMAD needs your reply
I'm Ethan from Move Shoot Move.
