  • 2102 once again was back at it doing what she was built to do and once again impressed us all not only pulling 100 empties but 50 loads tender 1st. Follow me and my pal Snuggle Bee as we traverse the old anthracite road from Port Clinton down to Tamaqua and back again! Special thanks to the RBMN and Andy Muller himself for making this all possible!

    Warms my heart to see how hard they're working 2102, not only for excursions, but occasional revenue freight trains too, the latter of which she was built for, and I love it!

      She's the strongest on the fleet after all. 68,000lbs of tractive effort with another 11,000 if the booster is used is nothing to sneeze at.

    How excited is it to see a real Steam Locomotive doing what it was designed to do back in the day, sadly I’m not so lucky the trains where I live still run on diesel and not once have I seen a real Steam Locomotive run under steam with my own eyes.
    I’m jealous of you.

    Just discovered you channel! A friend out there on the RBMN linked me to the Allegeny dispatcher causing the Helper crew to loose their cool. Nicely done. Then all these other great video's are on your channel! Subbed!

    Wow !! 100 cars and all pulled by one steamer ??? Usually when you see a train like that go by it has 3 or 4 diesel power units pulling !!! Those must have been empty !! !

    • @drmsig.r1000
      @drmsig.r1000 Год назад +1

      irl actually steam locomotives are actually more powerful than diesel, however diesel is much more cheaper and that's why they were one of the reasons they replaced locomotives

    • @Thunderbolt_1000_Siren
      @Thunderbolt_1000_Siren  Год назад

      They were empties. On the return run though those 50 cars were loaded with anthracite coal

    • @Thunderbolt_1000_Siren
      @Thunderbolt_1000_Siren  Год назад

      @@drmsig.r1000 Exactly the only locomotives that can match steam in terms of power are electrics such as the GG1 and E44 but electric and diesel can't match the torque of steam just like with tractors

    That was brilliant, always fascinating to see steam powered, revenue earning freight.
    Something we don't have very often here in the UK.
    I will ask though, I'm assuming that this is a preserved railway until the diesels take over to shunt the wagons? Or is it a part of the big railway and it was a special laid on?

    • @greatsmokymtnsrailfan
      @greatsmokymtnsrailfan Год назад +1

      This railroad is what we call a “class two” or “regional railroad.” The coal hoppers from what I know only travel on the reading and northern, as they have both power plants and mines on their system from what I know. They do have special steam passenger excursions, but all their profit comes from freight. They just do the steam for fun.
