One thing i will critique the team on is the effective listening and speaking to callers. Dave is an expert at that. When callers ramble on, Dave notices it, and right away, either say "how can we help" or "what is your question" so he can put them in the correct baby step and move on with the call, that is the effective listening part. On the effective speaking part, sometimes some callers need some tough love with the advice you give because we love them and we want them to succeed. Paying off debt is a long road and not easy. All of us learn from him. Hope this helps make the show better.

I've noticed jade is starting to grow a back bone and is learning to redirect callers. She still has a way to go but is much better than she was. Also this is the first time I've seen her in the host seat instead of the cohost seat.
I like all the personalities but the calls are way longer then they used to be b/c the callers ramble on or are unprepared. That equals less calls taken.

So sorry Audrianna. It happened to me. I was 3 weeks into maternity leave and my company got sold and I lost my job. Breathe. It will work out, trust me. Work your network for 6 to 8 weeks. Enjoy that baby and then get back into the market. I got a better job out of it. I wish you luck.

There is rural and there is rural. I’ve been places where it’s a 2 hour drive to the grocery store.
I really like this show. Recently started listening after seeing all the shorts on RUclips. I'm not a baby stepper, but I enjoying hearing real talk about real people's problems. Jade, George, and John have such good attitudes and are very helpful. They are addressing problems that I never knew existed in my life and I really enjoy the enlightenment.
My kids got a scholarship that required them to work. 20
Hours per week I prefer to keep the solar ship. The Doctor is 100% right!!!

I wa a single and pregnant on $600 a month and this lady is in panic mode because her husband ONLY MAKES $100,000 a year!?😅😅😅 I crawled myself out of that financial hole btw but it took a lot of " rice and beans" with no help from my dash family.😠 Now debt free with a $400,000 home.Yes married now but renting one of our rooms out. I am so frugal even now my pennies squeak!😮. Petrified😢😮about going back to those days. As far as work is concerned people need houses cleaned, errands done, decluttering, helping people move out, mow lawns, babysit pets... no excuse not to find work at allll!!! city OR rural areas!😠 Never thought of cleaning out stalls? Give me a break😅.

When my siblings started college I required that they get a job after they graduated from HS before entering freshman year in college. I told them it will help them pay for living expenses while they are in school and they need to keep a part time job. They all work until they graduated from college.

It's odd that a therapist makes poop jokes every episode.
Love the back and forth at the end regarding credit card points. I think jade explained it best as a fundamental difference in philosophy. I think George was too dismissive about the value of points for "perfect spenders." An extra $1k a year is seriously helpful, tax free value, and sign on bonuses can pay for entire vacations when planned properly. This can go against your philosophy but let's not pretend there's not a significant upside here.
If 1k per year is a “significant” upside you should not be worried about your credit card points 😅

Jade and George got BIG MAD at that last caller. He’s right by the way. Not taking advantage of credit card cash back is insane. My cashback rolls directly into my brokerage account and buys an S&P 500 index fund. I have tens of thousands of dollars extra in my early 30s because of this. I estimate conservatively I’ll have half a million extra dollars in retirement from doing this over 40 years. I get the argument Dave’s team makes against credit cards for financially illiterate people in debt, but responsible people would be completely foolish not to “play the game”.
I feel like they push marriage too much. Dude is 24. Let him adult for a bit first and then pop the question.
I don’t know why they got so defensive about the last caller. He presented his situation and asked what’s wrong with it. They proceed to equate it to bragging about being swole……
The fact is you can generate 2% or more on every penny you spend if you are disciplined. They are not infallible as they said, though they are a bit defensive about being questioned

2:00:00 I have to respectfully disagree with George. I do NOT spend more on my vacation rental house and rental car just because I put them on a cc (and pay them off in full). I have a budget for those items, and spend the same whether via credit or debit. The same with my groceries and the gas I put in my car. Our Google Fiber and RUclips TV cost exactly the same whether paid by debit or credit. Oh, and that life insurance premium didn't cost one thin dime more on the credit card, either. There are responsible people, and there is everyone else. Also, I'm not responsible for how other people spend their money, so don't blame me for their credit card debt. I don't know them, nor did I influence them to spend money when they don't have it to spend. We are BS7.

Sounds very familiar..we had 6 siblings when my dad died. I am the youngest of 7 and we moved into the house when my mom was 8 months pregnant with me. I was 44 when my dad died so we all loved the house very much. But none of us kids had lived in the house for 20 or so years. We sold it right away and really have not looked back. It was a great house but not really something any of us wanted to live in, even though it had some great features. But, none of us had 7 kids!

Our solar loan is 0.99% interest and we are paying 1/2 of what we used to pay in electric! Totally worth it! 😃🥰
Just to clarify…your current electric bill plus your solar loan payment is half of what your electric bill used to be?
Maybe it depends on where you live, but that doesn’t happen in my area. Not enough sun.
The pitch the solar company gave me was my solar payment plus electric bill would equal what my current electric bill is…for the next 20 (25?) years. And that’s not taking rising electricity rates and solar panel degradation into account.
@@notgivingmyemail3381 In the long run solar just does make sense, yet. Unless you have some great south facing roof lines and are in a state with lots of solar subsidies and high grid electric rates like CA. If solar was that economic for everyone, nearly everyone would do it.
Most people are just replacing their utility bill with another monthly payment, and don’t get me started on solar leases and PPA’s.

My beautifully hail-damaged subaru is about 4% of my take home. Reliable, cheap, liability insurance and looks fine from the road.
Most people won't be in debt within 20ish year's from now because many people will inherit digital assets and early Internet wealth and ad dollar producing socialmedia accounts and bitcoin accounts which they will use to pay off traditional debt but there isn't currently a digital asset liquidation service as digital assets are still too new and not everyone understands them in 2024
ETF's are the way to get yourself to a high income.

I don't understand who the hell thinks it's a great idea to take out six figures in debt for undergrad...if you need to rack up that kind of debt, unless you're a doctor or lawyer, the ROI simply isn't there.
Not sure they should give tax advice when they don’t know the difference between refunds and returns. You file a return. You may get a refund. You don’t get a return.

Credit cards are going to make most people spend more money and max them out. Ask 10 random 20-30 year old people around you who use credit cards and see how many of them are paying everything off or still have a bill/are maxing them out.

Why do so much americans think they HAVE to spend so much on a ring. Here in Europe a lot of People get engaged without a ring or with a beautiful but affordable one. Certainly not worth several months of income! Certainly not if you are in debt!
Not all Americans! My husband made my ring out of a pre-1960 silver quarter ❤ much more meaningful!

That’s an endearing term for dad. Delony says that about his own dad and it’s not disrespectful. You are taking this WAY out of context. Delony was plenty compassionate and empathetic to her and gave her great advice. Also, she called him dude too so that’s probably how she talks and it’s just in a friendly way not disrespectful at all.
