(Pay him a small amount of cash that will make his mom happy) and Keep some of the left over money in an account for when he goes to college, moves out, or eventually buys a car that's in his name so his mom can't sell it.

I have an addiction to this show, can’t stop listening to it. Originally it was for information and advice to sort my own financial affairs, which I have done but, I couldn’t work out why I keep coming back taking in hours and hours of this content.
I know why now. Partly it’s for motivation, especially for discipline to stick to my own budgeting plan, but now I think it’s more that there’s nothing more satisfying than listening to Dave call BS on the callers that even you know are trying to sell their own narrative as a reason for their financial woes. Ahh so good 😂

My dad took $1,500 out of my account as a teenager. I was saving up for a car. That was a lot money for a 17 year old kid in 1989 making $3.35 an hour. He paid two motorhome payments so they didn't re-po it. I couldn't believe he did it. He was more worried about how it made him look than the fact he stole from me. I never did or will do that to my kids. I made my son and daughter save 80% from all their jobs, 20% is for them to spend as they wish. They are learning work ethic and how to handle money. I give them goals based on their average pay.

So I've listened to this entire show and what I don't understand is this: if callers are asking for advice, why do they not listen? Also, if I were to call into the show, I would have all my figures written down and my question ready. I would make bullet points and stick to my question and not wander. I think more callers would get through and Dave would not say, "what is your question?". It's quite frustrating as a listener.

My parents (adopted) took out a 5000 loan when I was in 11th grade and let me and my sister split it as long as we make the payments.
    I had a job at McDonald’s making 300 a week.
    I bought a $2500 dirtbike.
    I would pay them $150 a week.
I did that for 3 years until I crashed my car and needed to borrow 3k from my sisters wedding fund.
My mom said sure no problem just keep the payments going.
Time after time I would run into an issue and l would have no money to pay for it but they would.
In Afghanistan I noticed that my 40k I had saved started to dwindle.
My mother had a power of attorney so I asked her about it.
She said, oh, that’s just the money you owe us.
At that time I had about 14,000 left.
I’ve had a job since I was 12 years old in some way shape or form.
I’ve made a lot of money and have nothing to show for it because I was not financially educated.
People will do crazy things for money because they think it makes the world go round.
Money doesn’t change you, it reveals who you are.

If you are planning a home birth, make sure you are prepared to pay for *both* a home birth and a hospital birth. If there is a change of venue, you don’t get the money back from the midwife. Also if there is any issue with the baby needing NICU care, it will require a lot of funds. When our home birthed baby was in the NICU, he was not the only home birthed baby in the NICU. This is not to discourage anyone from proceeding to have a child or a home birth, but don’t be naive to what it can cost to have a baby even with best laid plans… Also a woman who home births, is probably not going to want to go back to work at 6 weeks…

listening to the Ramsey show for awhile now, seems like they have a general principle if NOT helping out family in need. Like Cindy from Ohio. I mean that's her son who is a single dad of 4. Why not help him out?? If it was a widowed single mom, I bet you he would have felt differently..

What I learned doing my debt-free, zero loan PHD is that a degree gets you a seat on the table faster in most cases, than those without it for particular professional fields - COMMUNICATIONS is one of those areas - don’t care how many books you read on your own - you need professional training AND regular feedback or go start at the bottom of the barrel if you can find anyone willingly to hire you (ask Dave - he seems to hire folks all the time..). However, aim for as much debt free as possible.

It is the perfect opportunity for gamblers and institutional investors to rob people with little knowledge or patience for the actual market. A get rich never scheme for 97% of "investors".
