Not terrifying, but definitely does a good job of setting horror. The demented imagery, bloody corpses, thoughtful enemy placement and level design, and awesome Bobby Prince soundtrack all work together to make a rather creepy and atmospheric experience. Quake was very much like that as well.

Man this brings back memories. I was born in 1995, but my dad was a computer programmer and was into games like doom, quake and etc and I remember always watching him play and thought these games were awesome. There are a lot of shooters these days, and the genre seems to be well populated. But for all of the kids being born in the 2000s if you think that cod is good, or even Halo or battlefield, you all owe one to doom and Id software. Pretty much all shooter roots can be traced to the original wolfenstein and doom. It's still an instant classic that will always be an important component to the video game industry.

Anyway my mate found out about this new game called doom you could download - for free- off the internet. IT COMPLETELY BLEW OUR MINDS we had no idea how to program a 3d tecture mapped game - we immediatley gave up on becoming games programmers as this was lightyears ahead of what we were capable of.

It was brutal, evil, dark, nasty death screams and howls of the soulless horde of demons....whats not to love. We worshipped the games when we were kids and I still love those games and cant wait for doom eternal.

@Ronnro278 Yeah - that's what impresses me about these longplays that Cubex55 puts here. The players complete the whole game and find every possible secret while doing so.

Nice job alot better than what I can do,more of a fighting game and RPG person myself. My sisters and I played the doom franchise when we were kids so this brought back nostalgic feels.

I hope I am not alone in this, but as soon as you see one of these classic titles does anyone else just get the urge to look up various nostalgic titles from their childhood? Even though you might not even remember their names anymore or barely remembering them at all?
