Its more of a situation where he sensed they were not real robbers (there a several hints), but he was feeling uncomfortable with the situation so refused the ride. Good decision, because the police could get involved, weapons drawn etc.
A guy actually died because of a similar “prank”, he pretended to rob someone with a butchers knife while his friend recorded and the man he was fake robbing shot him in self defense he died at the scene. So yeah these pranks are fucking disgusting and harms everyone involved

Fun fact, banks don't scrually have audible alarms like the one they editted into the beginning of their prank. The alarms are silent, designed to be triggered while the robber is still in the bank. Standard practice is to give the robber the money, memorizing what relevant details they can give to the police, preserving life as the money is insured and a hotshot can come the next day with more cash.

Imagine how traumatized that Uber driver must be now. Not only do they have to deal with rude, drunk and potentially verbally abusive riders on a DAILY basis but now they can add literally having guns and riffles pulled on them to the list. In Germany a guy did a similar thing, he did a 'bomb prank' and he got to court for it. He even laughed in court, I think cause he didn't really realize what consequences his actions might have. In the end, he got arrested for it, I think

@@mammoneymelon Literally. I'll never forget this one moment in my junior year. It might sound silly or melodramatic. But it always stuck with me.
It was so short, seconds, but time felt frozen. We were all taking this math test, so everything was quiet. Then, we heard this single, resonating banging/hitting sound. I didn't really have friends in that class, or enemies, we didn't keep up with each other at all- but when we heard that, every one of us just froze. We were all looking around, at each other. We were distant but I swear you could feel the tension, the panic. Finally, someone picked up the heavy binder they had dropped. You couldn't hear it, but this class of 20 kids breathed out the biggest sigh of relief at once. It was like all of our heartbeats slowed at the same time. Even our two teachers were a little shaken.
I think about that incident a lot. How all of us, 16/17-year-old kids, were so paralyzed with fear just because we were students & it was America. Everyone's eyes were communicating the same thing, because most -if not all- of us thought it was a gunshot from outside the room. Even if it didn't sound the same, no one was thinking about that. We were just terrified. Our government cares so little for our lives, that even those fortunate enough to never have experienced a shooting, live in constant fear. It still breaks my heart when I think about it.

You are so anxious and tell them to get out hoping nothing happens. 10 minutes later, 10 cops are pointing a gun at your head. You are so confused and scared..turns out it was for views. You're still still scared and never got even an apology for this.
There’s definitely this element of “oh this person just does a low paid service job so they’re less important, just a prop for a flashy video”. Service industry employees are so often the target of these things and it’s messed up.

it’s shitty how disconnected they were from the very real danger they put him in. As a twin, I can confirm that you do split felonies between them, even if one wasn’t involved.
This 'prank' is so messed up. They said themselves that their uber drive could've got shot by the police. There was a possibility someone died because of their prank and they still thought it was funny. I wouldn't be surprised if that uber driver would be traumatised by this situation, I know I would be.
