I came from a pretty small, poor Australian school. I didn't have the opportunity to do anything to do with the arts. so it's really not impossible for someone to want to get into acting and just not having the opportunity.
@@wowreacts9717 Yeah for sure there's lots of ways to get some form of experience either through drama classes, minor roles in school plays, clubs outside of school or even just watching interviews with actors about their process. Also, if you don't have any experience, DON'T EXPECT TO GET INTO JUILLIARD! I wouldn't apply for my science degree if I had never done any science before.

Auditioning to Juilliard without having done Shakespeare at all is kinda like appying for a math degree at Harvard and writing "PS: I don't fuck with fractions" in your application essay

To be fair I have yet to see a young TikTok influencer actually make a good response to stuff like this or apologize in a normal way. Kids really shouldnt be allowed to manage a public profile of any kind that have a million+ followers. They definitely need a PR manager at that point. EDIT: a lot of people are interpretating this like I'm saying that because he's young he shouldn't be responsible. That's not what I mean at all. He's 22, but he's still not mature enough to know what to censor online. It's not like you learn how to handle a following of millions of people ever. People will be stupid online no matter what, he is responsible for addressing it but the actions of his followers shouldn't always been seen as an extension of his actions. (I meant kids on TikTok in general as well, 12 yr olds shouldn't be allowed to have huge followings IMO)
@@romanticphilistine , Its probably best to ignore people like these, they are usually doing it for attention. (As you can see, its working by how much views they have)
It's absolutely because his fans are 11 year olds with a crush who don't understand how applications, auditions, universities, acting, or the real world works.
his fans attacking a prestigious college probably ruined his chances to be taken seriously as an actor edit: he even said prior to his audition he had no acting experience. what were his fans expecting?
He really just blacklisted himself from ever getting any serious acting jobs. Juilliard has like a 7% acceptance rate and his fans were really expecting someone with ZERO experience to get in.
And he picked one of the MOST overused Shakespeare monologues?! Bud you were the 100th Puck "I jest to Oberon" monologue they heard that day and you did a bad fake accent during it...OFC you didn't get in!
As someone who works in the arts: none of us like working with people who act and feel entitled. We've had to completely cut ties with artists because of how whiny and straight up disrespectful they were when told things they didn't like hearing. The arts community is VERY close knit among professionals, too, so once people find out you're an asshole with a massive ego who's impossible to work with, nobody will want to hire you, no matter how talented you are. So I hope this kid is having a great time digging his own grave!
Did he? I feel like it was more like his fans ruining his career, which does make me feel a bit bad for him. From what I understand, all he did was share something about his life, and then he told people to stop and they didn't...Idk, I'm not a fan of his and I guess I don't know all the details but it kinda seems like it's lowkey not his fault-
no i truly think it was his fans that blacklisted him. i really don’t understand why people thought that it was appropriate to threaten and flood the schools page like i’d be so embarrassed. i was embarrassed for him. at the end of the day, literally these ppl don’t know him and they most likely ruined shit for him.
dude if i were axel i’d be so embarrassed. i know he didn’t encourage this, but the fact that thousands of people are attacking a prestigious school for not accepting some guy is insane, like for all we know he could be a bad actor. tbh i wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t able to get into other schools bc of this
was axel making fun of him? because i feel like it came off that way, maybe it’s only me though. i feel like it’s kinda a dick move to make fun of someone who’s trying to comfort you genuinely ??
Unfortunately they do not record first-round auditions at Juilliard, and as he did not even get a first callback there would be no footage💔💔 (know this as someone who applied for acting to Juilliard as well)
lots of enthusiastic theater kids manage to take shakespeare seriously, and they aren’t even trying to get into julliard. the fact he gave up on acting after one setback shows he’s not serious or acquainted with reality
This situation is way more unfair to Danny considering he wasn’t even offered an audition! This new information just shows how Juilliard is even worse than we heard!
Sorry, I can’t get over Charlie Puth being like “I didn’t get into Juilliard, prestigious schools aren’t going to be what makes or breaks you.” And then immediately saying he went to Berklee. FUCKING BERKLEE. One of the most prestigious music schools out there.
@@xMelodyx5 I thought the same exact thing. I never heard of another Berklee except UC Berkeley. I thought he was just talking about the regular California state school
"i assume he had some sort of acting prowess or did some sort of acting before he started applying to acting schools" yeah actually he did not. he had no acting experience at all which makes this whole thing even more bizarre
It's so obviously a ploy to become famous. He decided to move into the smallest apartment in NYC(which was shown on a bunch of RUclips channels), then applied to Fucking Julliard without any experience.
It's sort of important to point out that axels family is extremely well off and his sister recently started an influencer marketing company. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if 90% of his tik toks are schticks to become an influencer and to help make his sisters company more credible/ well known in the influencer world.
"Spelled Juilliard wrong, so... I am definitely not going to get in." This is so funny because Axel made the exact same mistake on ALL of his posts about Juilliard 🤣 maybe that's also why he didn't get in?!
having no acting experience and only applying to the single most exclusive acting program in the country is the sort of tomfoolery that i didn't think actually existed
Literally when I toured the school, the acting program is the most selective last year out of 6785 people who auditioned for the acting program, 16 undergrads got it...
@@LetsGaurr424Jfc that’s insane… in general you shouldn’t apply to only the number one school in your chosen field, especially if you’re like Axel and don’t exactly have the knowledge or experience. The fact that the acceptance rate is so low is crazy though. I’ve never thought about going to Juilliard, why are they so elite and selective?
@user-iy3nt5mm2v History to the school, previous undergrads as well as being one of the most elite performing arts schools in the world. The school itself isn't that large and it has more graduate degrees than undergraduate degrees. To be able to claim you're a student at juliard is one of the most amazing things someone in the performing arts industry can claim. I have extensive training in performing arts (mainly vocal) but I don't think I would even think of applying there. Even the person doing our tour applied 14 times to the school before she was accepted into the graduate program for vocal and piano. She was amazing. In total only about 1600 students attended so it really is cream of the crop.
Even as a non-actor, it’s so obvious to me how much this guy doesn’t understand the industry. What he wants is so obviously mainstream Hollywood stardom, and his approach to that is… Juilliard? With no theater experience??? I bet he just googled “best acting schools” and went with the first result without doing any further research
i’ve done theatre for 8 years now and axel clearly has no grasp on how auditions work 1) if you can’t do an accent, don’t do it 2) if you don’t understand a piece, don’t do it 3) if you haven’t read the entire play your scene is coming from or don’t intend on reading the entire play, don’t do it he legit broke all audition no nos
1. I'm pretty sure he's now blacklisted from a lot of prestigious Schools because of this and 2. Imagine being the social media coordinator for Julliard, or however you spell it, and being fully puzzled by a spontaneous SURGE of comments about some kid you've never heard of.
It doesn't matter if he's blacklisted. He already got what he wanted which was clout and attention. I highly doubt he was serious about Julliard other than for attention. If he were actually serious he would have been prepping years ahead of time and he definitely would have heard of Shakespeare.
As someone who also didn’t get accepted to Juilliard it’s kinda crazy to see this Axel situation. Juilliard has an insanely small acceptance rate and most people know that when applying. There are many reasons to criticize Juilliard, like them raising tuition costs during COVID and banning students from campus when they protested against tuition increases, but I don’t get why people are upset with Juilliard because they didn’t accept Axel? Apparently he barely has any acting experience and he only spent a month learning his audition pieces.
As for him doing an accent for his audition we’re taught NOT to do any accents. Unless you have a dialect coach most colleges want you to use your real voice.
Also he could still maybe finance some acting lessons, or get to know people in the industry…etc. I’ll give an analogy, imagine you’re an aspiring rapper and you producer your own music. You’re rapping career doesn’t take off but a major music label hires you as a producer because you’re 10x better at producing than you are at rapping. At the end of the day although you didn’t become a rapper you still technically fulfilled your dreams cause producers get PAID and also in this modern day era producers also get recognition. I think that’s a similar analogy to the actor/modelling scenario.
Correct but not. A lot of actors do modeling on the side, in fact many Modern Superhero and Soap opera actors are models. Modeling can really help portray things and is a good practice for acting.
they were leaving comments about axel on a woman's memorial post too, to the point that julliard blocked comments on the post. Idk why they thought they were helping with shit like that.
i literally dont understand the consept. what do they think they achieve with flooding a instagram comment section with "LET AXEL MY CUTE WHITE BOY AW UWU" comments
Unironically, pretending to have an accent and then doing the audition without one (aka your normal voice) is low key a genius idea. First off, your audition is that much more impressive since you’re able to completely “hide” your accent AND if and when they find out you don’t actually have an accent they will be mind blown that they were bamboozled by your acting BEFORE the audition even happened.
if i was one of the guys who auditioned people, i wouldn't even consider allowing someone who i suspect doesn't have an american accent onto the property

I've never seen so many people defend such mediocrity, for lack of a better word. No hate to him because he wasn't encouraging his fans to spam Julliard, I'm just confused why millions of people expected him to get into one of the most prestigious schools with such a low acceptance rate when he had no previous acting experience.
So he literally said himself this audition was horrible and people are mad at julliard for not letting him in?? Julliard's acting school accepts a group of 20-30 people, if I remember correctly. The thing about Juilliard is that they provide classical training to their students, hence the Shakespeare audition. Had Axel applied to a school with a more modern/experimental approach to acting, he might have gotten in, though I'm not sure if his basic acting skills are stellar (as I haven't seen clips of his basic acting skills). Coming from an actor who has witnessed this time and time again, some performers simply aren't suited for Shakespeare. I've seen plenty of talented actors absolutely botch Shakespeare, and I know exactly where Axel went wrong. First, when acting Shakespeare, you must take time to process the text and understand the meaning, especially if the text is new to you or you aren't comfortable with early modern English. Upon his initial reading of the excerpt from Hamlet, you can hear exactly what people do if they aren't comfortable with Shakespeare; they read the rhythm and the rhyme as opposed to the words and the meaning. Second, Axel did not need to do an accent at all. People tend to think that one must perform Shakespeare in a British accent to "remain true to the source," but the issue is that the original British accent that Hamlet was performed in at The Globe is a far cry from a modern British accent. When a seasoned Shakespeare performer or director hears someone put on a modern British accent, it immediately shows that the performer is an amateur. Additionally, I simply don't think that Axel is suited for a theatre career. His sole goal is to become rich and famous as an actor, but this is often not the reality for someone who goes to school for theatre. You don't go to school for theatre because you want to be rich and famous; you do it because you love the craft. When you truly love the craft, you would be happy becoming a high school theatre teacher or a regional actor, even if you had wanted fame. It's certainly not a life for everyone---as it definitely isn't for me, currently a STEM major---and it definitely doesn't seem to be a life for Axel. If he wanted a career in theatre for the love of the craft, he would not have put all of his eggs in one prestigious basket. He would have applied to multiple schools. Instead, I think he just woke up one day and decided he wanted to be a movie star. Maybe he can make it into Addison Rae's next Netflix Original.
@@jasonboomgarden4480 THANK YOU! I could have sworn Axel was given one of Puck's monologues, but then Katelyn W said Hamlet, and I started second-guessing myself... thank you for the validation but more importantly, yes, yes to literally everything else she said in the original comment.

One of my friends attended Juilliard for music and she has been playing violin and viola almost her entire life. Like, literally as soon as she was walking she was playing. She also worked her way up from our state's music conservatories, then another school out of state, THEN Julliard. No offense to Axel but a lot of people dedicate their lives to these arts and deserve that spot at the school. He should have maybe started at another school before going for something so grand 🤷🏻♀️
This. Honestly, the only way a person really gets in schools like this via talent alone first shot is if they were child prodigies and we're caught early enough to hone that skill. And even then...
He clearly had no idea what Juilliard is intended for, or how hard so many people work to just get an audition and have the experience, and then still don't get in. He never should have applied.

A huge problem with him is that he’s “acting” the part of a struggling person in New York with a tiny apartment when his parents are extremely well-off and he easily had the choice of living in a nicer apartment or at least furnishing his place with nicer furniture. He’s playing the struggle character pretty well… but not well enough to get into Juilliard lol
@@diacarat there are many julliard parents who spent a ton of money on instruments, lessons, tutors etc for their kids to learn the skills they need to get in. That still involves some work on the student/childs part. That is normal and considered the standard for those who do get in. What is privilege is him getting rewarded for nothing. Working for a spot and doing nothing to get one is not the same thing. you can argue that paying for classes and such is a form of privilege but i'd say thats still better than nepotism babies.
Imagine feeling entitled to get into Julliard WITH NO ACTING EXPERIENCE, and having a bunch of 12 year old fans berate the school for doing the right thing to not accept him and doing a piss poor job to tell his fans to stop.

the worst thing about axel is that he pretends to be poor to get both clout and sympathy. his parents are rich, he’s been on over a dozen vacations in the last year, and he made a youtube video before he blew up saying that he was living the way he was for the “experience” of being poor. he’s conning his followers into thinking that he’s a rags to riches kid who got a modelling contract on nothing but his charisma. he’s not anything more than a privileged transplant cosplaying poverty to get famous.
"Cosplaying poverty" is a perfect way to describe it! He's just picking and choosing the "fun" or "quirky" parts of being poor without any of the long term effects

I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to know that people dedicated their entire life to get into prestigious school. The fact that he came by with no knowledge of basic Shakespearean, while the fans are riled up as if Juilliard owe him an admission? Come on, what is he and his fans expecting? He definitely knew the outcomes from posting all of these to his audiences. Really made his intention questionable tbh
He probably also knew that his fans would start a backlash opening more realistic opportunities, oh wait you just said that, I was reading and typing, yeah I totally agree.
@star faze ok but I can totally tell people to not do something even though I completely expected them to do the opposite like that is a thing you know

as someone who has experienced very high-stakes auditions (and been rejected, love you Berklee xoxo), can confirm that they are fairly deadpan throughout the whole thing. if you are at a prestigious audition and you can finish all of the audition materials you've prepared without being told to stop, that's a gift. they have to sit through dozens of auditions, often for several days in a row. they don't give a fuck about you, and I don't really blame them.
What axel doesn’t tell you is that the apartment he lives in while small is in a really expensive part of Manhattan. He comes from money and this all smells like the work of an industry plant. Like how well did everything work out for him huh? Almost like a movie.
@@emmah1161 an industry plant is someone who usually has a major label/management that’s doing everything for them behind the curtains and basically plants them in a secure successful position from the start playing it off as an organic growth. so knowing axel has a wealthy family while he’s playing this ‘poor boy’ persona sounds like acts from an industry plant. weird that he didn’t get accepted into jillard’s since his ‘pretending to be poor for clout’ act got everyone invested
one thing that drives me nuts about this guy is that he barely put any effort into his career. people work their whole lives to audition for schools like juilliard only to get rejected. and this guy auditions on a whim and gets a modeling contract and fame??? bs
I don't think it was on a whim. I followed him for a while and he explained that the reason he moved to New York was to pursue his acting and audition for julliard. I don't disagree that he barely put effort because he definitely doesn't put any effort at all.
His conversation with Charlie Puth is so uncomfortable. Charlie can’t get out two words before Axel starts loudly reacting to everything he says like an NPC.
Makes me so mad he got a modeling contract for being mediocre and not making it to Juilliard, especially when so many other models have experience for years and they barley get any work
Ngl, the guy himself doesn’t even bother me that much personally. The biggest things that irk me out of this situation are the stan behavior and the fact that he got a fucking offer for another competitive industry because he got REJECTED from his first attempt at a competitive industry.
I would feel so embarrassed if I was axel- his followers and supporters are making this situation harder than EVER. Yes, yes, maybe he got a great deal from all the fame and support he got from his followers FOR NOW, but is going to affect him farther in his life. He need some self awareness, tbh he did not deal with the situation appropriately and responsibly (same goes to his followers)
He doesn't seem self-aware enough to be embarrassed, but I'm only going off of what I've seen in this video so idk. But he's definitely self-aware enough to take that modeling contract, acting is not his thing lol
Yeah and rn I also feel kinda bad for Danny - because some idiot gregs (not many, but enough to notice them) are commenting "Let Danny in!" under Julliards recent posts :/ I'm sure Danny would also feel embarrassed if he saw that
He didn’t even do much acting before his audition. He just thought he would be good at it. He also is apparently from a very rich family so even his like guy making it on his own is a false pretense
Isn't that always how it is? These children that like these people on TT are too stupid to realize that most of what they see is fake or a misrepresentation of reality.

very true. i was stressing so much about wanting to get into a good school like berklee, but after talking about it with my sister who is now a senior in college (majoring in biology) she helped me realize that employers care about your skills and knowledge and not just about where you got it. you could go to a prestigious school but be absolute shit at your major vs going to a normal community college and be one of the best. the label of going to a good school like that helps but in the end it’s all about your skill set.

Acting major here! The idea of auditioning for a BFA acting program (at any school but especially a place like Juilliard) and spontaneously doing an accent on one of your pieces, reciting Shakespeare without understanding the meaning, and then expecting the auditor to smile or give some indication that they liked it is INSANE. What did this man think was gonna happen?? And then all his fans felt like he was CHEATED??
@@Lucifersfursonayeah, his mom said he would be the next Marlon Brando!!! Justice for whoever this little white boy is, I don’t remember his name. (I’m joking btw)
Film acting and stage acting are very different (especially when talking about classical theatre like Shakespeare) It seems to me that Axel is more suited for (if anything) film acting and Juilliard is not the right place for that. He can’t expect to get into a school that he chose because of prestige rather than if it was the best fit for him specifically. The part where he was reading his Shakespearean monologue made me cringe so hard because so much preparation goes into one monologue. Arguably the most important part of any monologue or scene is understanding what your character is saying and why they are saying it. He obviously didn’t know either.
the worst part about this whole thing is that people are now giving him chances of doing stuff other people worked their whole lives for (modelling) out of pity when all he did was one day come up with the idea that he wanted to go to a prestigious school without ever working for it or putting in the effort. People complain about big tiktokers getting big without 'doing anything' but this one... he did literally nothing. All he did was show his small ass apartment in New York (that he's living in bc he wants to, cause apparently his family is well off and he just likes to exploit that for views I guess) and people started following him
This is the thing for me and I'm surprised that I've seen almost no one else comment about this. When things like this happen all I can think is that it's such a slap in the face to people who do work for it, but still don't get these opportunities. You know he's going to get other opportunities outside of modeling too. But like there's are tons of people that want to get into modeling, practicing in their bedrooms and stuff, working at it and hoping to get a contract or signed to an agency. And this kid gets one for doing nothing but being popular for being mediocre and he didn't even want it. It's just such a slap in the face to people who actually work for it and still get rejected. The whole thing just sucks so bad from that standpoint to me.
yeah absolutely agree. all he had to do for people to feel like "he deserves more than this and should get literally a once in a lifetime chance" is... get a rejection. once. like... the bare minimum ANYONE who wants to be someone goes through in life. his fanbase acts as if he is so privileged he is above going through these normal phases. just for comparison: J K Rowling got her HP book rejected *12 times* before getting a positive reply. even legends and geniuses went through failures. and yet on the internet whole fanbases live in an imaginary world where this is somehow too sad for people like Axel to go through. like hello?? people who spent THEIR WHOLE LIVES and their every breath doing something to perfection get rejected, and this pissy boy should get everything he wants without so much as faking hard work. hysterical..
Well, there’s a few things going on here. First, life is often unfair. But it’s also the case that even if someone has “worked so hard for an opportunity,” it doesn’t mean that they’re necessarily any good at that thing. Like it or not, this dude has made up this strange hustle and netted millions of followers. People are going to notice someone who’s getting that sort of attention and any business that relies on gaining interest, such as modeling or retail, is going to want the follow-on attention of those four million “fans.” It may all seem like a fluke and unearned, but if it were as easy as doing nothing at all, everyone would have millions of followers. The truth is that while hard work will often pay off eventually, success in many areas is more of a popularity contest than we might wish. Talent matters a great deal and he didn’t get into Julliard, after all. But looks and charisma matter quite a bit too as do connections and sheer luck.
@@b.w.22 Thing is, he has no charisma at all 😭 idk if you've scrolled through his tiktok, he's appeared in my fyp a couple times and he's got the most bland personality ever, he only got those followers because people kept poking fun at his super small apartment and bc he's a young, blond, 'cute' white boy
@@trixie3850 - Naw, I definitely haven’t checked out anything he’s made. FWIW, I think this dude is about as interesting as an empty paper bag and not nearly as charming. I was speaking more generally about why he might be interesting to some company, but you can just tell he’s had so much handed to him because he’s “cute.” I haven’t been able to bring myself to mess with tiktok in any way, given how little seems required of the people who get famous on there. I’m sure there are good things about it and good creators, but watching these vanilla ass dummies do some lazy dance or mug and pout at the camera makes me die inside a little. I mean, get what you can and all and obviously these people are meeting with success and all, but it makes me sad that kids these days aspire to be some dancing doof online instead of a fireman, doctor, or astronaut or whatever. Like others have said, it gives these people an unreasonable sense on entitlement, like this guy who though there was any chance he could just BS and wink his way into Julliard just because he was popular on tiktok and people liked him in high school.
@@savagecabbageboi6491 It means he has a safety net and very likely a stable and good upbringing with support and good education + more likely to have better developed professional social skills and abilities in networking
I've been doing acting as a hobby for the last decade, and I can absolutely promise you that the people judging your audition will not give you any kind of reaction no matter what they think of your performance, because they have to be objective during the process and can't show favouritism. I have been rejected in so many auditions and also had a director admit to my face that I was a top choice for a certain role, and each time I had no prior inkling about the outcome because the people doing your audition will never show it on their faces, so I don't know why this kid is whining about not getting a reaction and his fans literally starting a fight with a school. Even if his audition had gone well and his performance was the best out of everyone there, he still would not have gotten a reaction. That just goes to show that maybe he's not as good at/qualified for acting as him and his fans think?? I mean I wouldn't know if he's ever claimed to be a good actor or not or whether he has experience or not because I'm not on tiktok so I'm just speculating here.
i wasn't gonna say it but danny mentioned it for me- it is literally the "cute teen white boy effect". if anyone else who had a following on tiktok and wasn't a conventionally attractive white boy they would definitely not get this much attention and support and NEWS ARTICLES about them because they didn't get into a very prestigious school. like it's so stupid but then the same people who were attacking juilliard hate on popular creators as if those people didn't get famous for the same reasons they made axel get popular
white mediocrity gets rewarded a lot, especially on tiktok. on vine, you HAD to be funny (attractiveness was great and all and it def did slip thru the cracks with people like nash grier) but there was still a chillness and exclusivity to it. social media has gotten so out of hand where the most untalented, boring people can just stand in front of their phone (no editing, no skills, no humor required) and get millions of followers as long as they're white and conventionally attractive. it's sad.
@@xxmakeuplover05xx exactly like i always see videos on tiktok of a white guy that ppl find attractive standing in front of the phone and doing nothing and they get millions of likes?? some of those people aren't even good people but they're still rewarded
@@tsou22 I don’t think it has anything to do with race, there are plenty of teenagers and young adults from all backgrounds who do nothing on tiktok, RUclips, and Instagram and get millions of followers for it. Kids will just consume anything
Yeah I’m an actor with 15 years of experience and I didn’t even apply to Juilliard because I knew how hard it would be, I instead chose to go to a smaller school with better resources and connections that fit me as an artist. I wish you had gone through his Backstage profile because you can see he has NO EXPERIENCE. He just wanted to be an actor and decided to shoot his shot at the HARDEST ACTING SCHOOL TO GET INTO. Now I don’t particularly like what Juilliard stands for, a lot of nepotism, privilege, and exclusiveness (opposite of what theatre means to me), but this was just a naive and ignorant choice on his part. He’s an attractive white boy with a ~quirky~ personality and look how much he’s getting rewarded for not putting in the work and effort to actually achieve his goals. The acting world has always been easiest for white men anyway, and he’s already bathing in success. It’s just disappointing.
The thing I don't understand is he himself admitted that his audition went bad, then again he's kinda enjoying how fans did all these drama's for him to get him into juilliard. Hypocrisy enough?
yeah, honestly the more he talked the more he dug his own grave in revealing just how little business he had even auditioning for that school. you need to have some kind of god complex to think you can have no experience and still get in
No mystery there. He seems to want fame rather than the craft itself. His lack of seriousness probably came across strongly during the audition as well.
I don't understand why he gave up on acting so easily tho why I say that because he wants to be an actor but all of a sudden he excited because he's a model and no word on acting or if he will try again it confused me
@@slasherfox5907 a lot of arts students and aspirants often give up and settle with normal careers, or just go wherever there are opportunities. I'm doing an MBA now, and I'll probably get into human resource management or IT. Interests change very easily, especially when you're young
the worst part of this whole situation is that he has been cosplaying as a "real" new yorker by trying to get sympathy points for having a small apartment and buying food from a street vendor... but his family is wealthy and he can probably go back whenever he likes! there are plenty of people who are stuck in poverty without a choice and he made it his aesthetic to get tiktok famous.
@@anastasiao4036 I’m actually not a fan. I don’t even watch his channel. I just don’t like judging people without getting the whole picture. I don’t like judging people at all. It’s not my place or right to do so.
"ACTING" and acting are different things. I studied Shakespearian theatre for 5 years, and didn't get into Julliard because I couldn't afford the flight to go there irl, and this was before the days of zoom.... which was kinda heartbreaking, but I'm over it, it was years ago. This guy? He's not julliard material. He's laughable. Yikes.
what's hilarious is that this kid, who didn't understand what he was reading, and then threw on a poor accent, THEN ADMITTED THAT HE BLEW THE AUDITION BECAUSE OF IT, had all this publicity about it. a good part of acting is emotion, or the lack of it in some cases, and how you project it for the character, if you don't understand what you're saying, you can't give the proper feel to it, and so you struggle to bring the character to life through you. if you can't take something that has been interpreted hundreds of times- like much of Shakespeare has been- and figure it out, you aren't ready for it, and if you do want to be, at least don't go in half cocked and change plans- there's a reason that shows have hours of practice before they're in front of an audience.
"I've never even opened Hamlet" So you somehow have never read the work of the most famous playwright of all time and you want to be an actor. I'm not saying you have to have even preformed Shakespeare but I feel you may have had to at least read it once. I think this kid had way too much confidence in his ability.
i think its crazy that he really wanted to got acting school, admitted he had no idea what was happening in hamlet (which can be confusing its completely different language than what we speak today) but he cold have like, idk, researched and put even an ounce of effort, like look up what the lines mean and bam youve shown that you've tried at least a little bit
Dear Axel, Happy Holidays. It’s been 60 years since you attempted to get into our music school program and failed. We heard you’re in hospice care now and wish you well in your transition between this life and the next. Do you ever wake up some mornings before the sun rises, struggle to stand up and limp to the bathroom, just to gaze at your reflection in the mirror and wonder what life could have been like for you if you’d been accepted here? What experiences, life lessons, loves, and lifelong memories you most likely lost? Just wondering. Sincerely, The Juilliard School.
I assist with a summer Shakespeare camp for kids 12+ every summer, and honestly the 15ish-year-old girl who played Puck this summer did 1000% better on that monologue than Axel. I know in that clip he was still in the early stages of practicing, but it was pretty lackluster. Shakespeare can be difficult to understand, yes, but there’s all sorts of resources available online or at the public library to help you a given play better. I’ve seen 12-year-olds understand Shakespeare well enough to perform it, and even small children in the audience can laugh at some of the sillier jokes.
The fact that Axel also said that he has NEVER been in a play before... Not even in school or anything-
I came from a pretty small, poor Australian school. I didn't have the opportunity to do anything to do with the arts. so it's really not impossible for someone to want to get into acting and just not having the opportunity.
idk if it's the same for this guy, but I'm just saying it's possible

As someone who also didn’t get accepted to Juilliard it’s kinda crazy to see this Axel situation. Juilliard has an insanely small acceptance rate and most people know that when applying.
Modeling can really help portray things and is a good practice for acting.

how does he expect to get into one of the most prestigious acting schools in the world without even knowing about hamlet
Well said.
Very well said! Just as a note, the text is from MSND, not Hamlet, but your point very much still stands, and thank you for sharing your experience!

@@maeve5023 People like to play up the narrative of this struggling artist, but it's rarely the case. May I ask; how do you know he's living on a cheque by cheque basis? Because he says so? I knew people who would say the same, but when they needed money from their parents were wired thousands of dollars whilst still proclaiming to do it on their own.
Basically, not everyone is going to be honest in the telling of their own narrative. Social media has shown this time and time again.
Dude it’s kind of embarrassing that mostly teenagers are trying to be like “Julliard is big meanie” Like Julliard doesn’t give a shit about this. They’re an established school lol If anything, this makes Axel look worse. But the part where you talk about the acceptance rates and tips to help get into a hard school, or what to expect if you don’t get into a hard school is good. Go THAT route.
Honestly every school is the same, just some have bigger price tags. It’s like comparing something to a designer brand; there may be some some instances of high quality but they all have the same foundation.
very true. i was stressing so much about wanting to get into a good school like berklee, but after talking about it with my sister who is now a senior in college (majoring in biology) she helped me realize that employers care about your skills and knowledge and not just about where you got it. you could go to a prestigious school but be absolute shit at your major vs going to a normal community college and be one of the best. the label of going to a good school like that helps but in the end it’s all about your skill set.
i also don’t want to spend X amount more money for the same exact curriculum i could get somewhere else for a lot less
@@birdbestie Community college is a good option!!! A lot of people dismiss it, but like you said, jobs don't care where you got the skills just that you have them.

@@blueismylove3128 Not trying to look down on community colleges or anything, but companies absolutely do care where you went to college. It's pretty important for your overall image. Getting an 80% in Harvard is not the same as getting 80% in a community college.
@QueenJulica [BEST VlDEOS ON YT] you're not funny
@QueenJulica [BEST VlDEOS ON YT] begone bot
So true how he wanted to convey any emotion if he even didn't understand the character, its mind blowing
Many film actors went to Juilliard
@@danimotherofchickens479 true but most acting careers start on the stage because that's where acting as a whole began as well
the worst part about this whole thing is that people are now giving him chances of doing stuff other people worked their whole lives for (modelling) out of pity when all he did was one day come up with the idea that he wanted to go to a prestigious school without ever working for it or putting in the effort.
People are going to notice someone who’s getting that sort of attention and any business that relies on gaining interest, such as modeling or retail, is going to want the follow-on attention of those four million “fans.”
It may all seem like a fluke and unearned, but if it were as easy as doing nothing at all, everyone would have millions of followers.
I was speaking more generally about why he might be interesting to some company, but you can just tell he’s had so much handed to him because he’s “cute.”
I haven’t been able to bring myself to mess with tiktok in any way, given how little seems required of the people who get famous on there.

His qualifications were “I want to. Let me in. I don’t understand Shakespeare.”
i wasn't gonna say it but danny mentioned it for me- it is literally the "cute teen white boy effect". if anyone else who had a following on tiktok and wasn't a conventionally attractive white boy they would definitely not get this much attention and support and NEWS ARTICLES about them because they didn't get into a very prestigious school. like it's so stupid but then the same people who were attacking juilliard hate on popular creators as if those people didn't get famous for the same reasons they made axel get popular
white mediocrity gets rewarded a lot, especially on tiktok. on vine, you HAD to be funny (attractiveness was great and all and it def did slip thru the cracks with people like nash grier) but there was still a chillness and exclusivity to it. social media has gotten so out of hand where the most untalented, boring people can just stand in front of their phone (no editing, no skills, no humor required) and get millions of followers as long as they're white and conventionally attractive. it's sad.

It’s just disappointing.

yeah, honestly the more he talked the more he dug his own grave in revealing just how little business he had even auditioning for that school. you need to have some kind of god complex to think you can have no experience and still get in
No mystery there. He seems to want fame rather than the craft itself. His lack of seriousness probably came across strongly during the audition as well.

what's hilarious is that this kid, who didn't understand what he was reading, and then threw on a poor accent, THEN ADMITTED THAT HE BLEW THE AUDITION BECAUSE OF IT, had all this publicity about it.
a good part of acting is emotion, or the lack of it in some cases, and how you project it for the character, if you don't understand what you're saying, you can't give the proper feel to it, and so you struggle to bring the character to life through you.
if you can't take something that has been interpreted hundreds of times- like much of Shakespeare has been- and figure it out, you aren't ready for it, and if you do want to be, at least don't go in half cocked and change plans- there's a reason that shows have hours of practice before they're in front of an audience.
