As an old blues player having used other guitar sims for many years and struggling to get a great blues tone, I finally took the plunge and bought the Tone King and I'm blown away with it. I can, at last, get a great sound playing over backing tracks in my music room without annoying the neighbors. It is the first time I've managed to get an amp sim to blend in properly with a backing track and make you feel you are actually playing live with a band. BTW, I love listening to you young guys playing the blues, you take it to new levels. I only wish I had your talent in my earlier days.
The tone sounds great but I’m going to be looking really close at your solo ideas you did in the opening jam!!! You make me want to pick my guitar up and be a better player for sure Ross👍
Same here! I’ve been playing blues and rock guitar, on and off for over 40 years. It’s extremely humbling and inspirational that Ross is a million times better than I’ll ever be. That opening jam was phenomenal! Nothing at all repetitive, like a lot of blues guitar tends to be. Every passage was new and different while still sticking to the 12 bar blues. Oh, and the gear section was kinda interesting.
@@Woodstock271 Ross is an awesome player! And I probably will never be that good either but I try to learn from him the best I can for sure! And you were also right it’s very humbling to watch a great player like that! Thanks for the comment👍
@@rustysguitar1, I agree and was watching his hands for a few techniques that I could employ, but there is so much going on here at the same time. His “call and answer” runs have a few slightly different “calls” and the “answers” are also slightly different from each other but the roots are the same. His “vocabulary” on the guitar is so fluent and flows together, combining techniques and phrasing, I’m just blown away. Ross is one of my favorite guitarists for this reason. Everything is a little unexpected but works perfectly once you hear it. Amazing.
Totally agree. Traditionalist here, spent years collecting pedals and putting my board together, 1st time I used this I was blown away and continue to be.
I’m not a blues player myself and use three other NDSP plug-ins but I’ve definitely enjoyed this video sooo much! You have a fantastic technique and those licks sound really sweet. I appreciate the clear comparisons you make between presets so that the potential customer can have a clear idea of what they’re up to. Thanks for posting! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Damn, this new Neural DSP sounds great. But to be honest, the tones ain't nuthin without someone who knows how to use them, and you sir are fantastic!.....subscribed!
Thanks for the presets, I’ve had the trial of this all week and loving it, will be buying today 🤟 great playing , nice to see a fellow country man playing so good
I have the neural dsp Rebea. Looking for a blues one. I’m sold on this. Great playing by the way. Great presets you’ve created as well they all sound amazing
I went to a new bar a few weeks ago, because they started selling an award winning beer. The beer was really good, but I stayed in the bar all night because I couldn't take my eyes off the barmaid. For some unknown reason, this video reminds me of that night.
I love how you’re playing the changes. You must’ve been studying what Matt Schofield does. I’m doing nothing else these days. I really dig your playing and Your channel really inspires me. Keep it up!
soooo coool sounds man! love it. during this black friday event this plugin will become mine :) Up to now I was using Soldano (very versatile!) and I want some new bluesy flavour :)
Tasty tones! Do you have a timeline for when the re-worked course videos (Master the Fretboard / Advanced Concepts) are going live on your website? Excited to check out the refreshed material!
Brilliant SRV-like tone and playing style in that intro! These plugins for clean/edge of breakup are getting better and better - and this Imperial MKII sounds awesome! I wonder, have you tried the S-Gear 2 plugin by Shuffham Amps? - some exceptional cleans etc here too.
I keep saying it but it's true. As Clapton said about John Mayer, John doesn't know how good he really is. I'm no Clapton but you, Ross, don't know just how good of a player you are. And you have clearly become a solidly clever businessman too now. Congratulations on 150k, brother. You deserve it. I'm proud to say you're a fellow Scot. Salut. Neural DSP for live applications????
Thanks so much mate! Appreciate the kind words as always :) I would be hesitant to use plugins for gigs but I know it can be done. Neural do have their own floor unit called the Quad Cortex which I'd love to check out some time. That would be much better for live application.
Hi Ross, if you're still around could you point me exactly to how you're setting up your sound here, your audio interface used etc.? Just want to make sure when I invest the cash in it it'll sound just like this!
Sounds super! Great playing great tone. Been thinking of getting this plugin. Blues player here. I use S Gear often, when not using real amp...this sounds dynamite.
I was hoping for NSDP to release something closer to SRV, Philip Sayce tone. More of a Fender Super Reverb at the edge of breakage with that straty twang and tuby reverb and large headroom. Adding to that a Texas Ranger pedal and a Fuzz face and you have the perfect raw Texas blues plugin. Unfortunately we have to wait longer for that type of tone :( Absolutely remarkable and inspirational playing btw.
THAT THERE is the BEST SHUFFLE PLAYING IVE HEARD EVER, if not just since SRV. Wow, Ross. Smoking! I had a problem using Neural DSP with that god awful iLok security system they force you to use. Can’t stand that you buy it then EVERY TIME you open it, you gotta PROVE you own it. Come on, folks- THINK of a better way!
Thank you man! That's strange - I don't have to do that every time I open the plugins. Would be worth reaching out to their customer support if you haven't already
Tight, clean and tasteful. Get yourself to the windy city and sit in. Dynamite opening cut. Plug ins? That sounded pretty good. But, I will stick with my H9.

This plugin sounds great! I’ve never messed around with plugins, but i might have to pick this one up as my first one. What are you using for an interface and monitors when recording? Love your playing as always!
Hey, Ross. Great chops&sound!!! I did install it as a trial and use it with yamaha thr 10 c - connected to the computer via usb, but I have latency issues. Too bad, because I dont want to buy additional hardware to properly use this plug-in. Cheers!
It might just be a audio driver issue. Im guessing you can use the thr 10 as an audiointerface. Check if there are ASIO drivers for that on their website. You dont want the windows standard drivers, they are way slower. With the right drivers you should get an latency of about 10ms or so. barely noticable.
@@danielschafhautle1691 I did switch to ASIO settings in plug in, but sound still keeps on with a bit less latency..and somehow adds also kinda slapback delay, eventhough not engaged. :(
