Well if you subtract the gunpowder that just leaves faith and steel!
Cannons. Flagellants. Great swords. Knights. Steam Tank. Empire's big problem is they have GOOD units, but most other armies have BETTER units in the same slot.
Can be great, can be shite, it's a dice game personified
I run a Battle Wizard and Elementalism Wizard alongside the Helblaster, and if you get off Plague of Rust and Curse of Arrow Attraction off as well it can be very spicy.
Hellblasters have always been good, in every edition since I started playing (5th) it's been amazing. Its saved my arse on numerous occasions and I have navy stories about its awesome power.
Back in the day, when it could misfire to fire all the tubes, it could remove units completely from the board.
Doing the maths... with a Helblaster & dedicated engineer, against a normal target in the open you should get around 10 hits per turn (not shots) at short range, and just over 7 hits at long range. With S5 -1 AP and AB2 that will hurt many things.
One thing I also noticed is that in a 2000 point list you can't afford a Steam Tank and two Helblasters (annoyingly 5 points over). What would be the call? Both Helblasters or one of each? With two Helblasters could have a unit of 19 Flagellants, which according to official GW sources is one of the best anti-dragon units in the game :)
Depends. If you field several units of demigryphs you could skip th stank.

@@G1Bryce have they actually changed any pre-existing units in the AJs? AFAIK AJs have just added more, rather than really changing anything.
Flagellants aren't great against dragons but useful against a bunch of stuff
The Hellblaster is easily the strongest ranged threat in the game

it is a solid choice but very random to depended on as i found the hard way. if it works it is strong but if it is not... well...

It´s fine. Nice The Empire have some real nasty shit, lol.. I don´t play them but I like their stule and would be sad if they were just bad.
Its ironic that it is 6 times less likely to properly misfire than a cannon
I find it's AP can be extremely underwhelming, you basically need plague of rust to deal with heavy cavalry models, unless you can roll all those 6s

@@shockerck4465 I only want the legs for my feudal world 40K conversions. I thought Highland sells them prebuilt, so I would have to break them apart to get just their legs. I don’t have a 3-D printer so I can’t just edit the STL file and print just the legs myself.
Also idk if they’re the right scale. I tried with pike and Shotte Landsknechts but they were too thin.

I don't know, looks like you have quite a few good units, its really just the main line units that are a disappointment.
NO! Don't say it. Empire needs some decent units! The nerf bat will come to OW.
If it's broken then the question is wherher the crew is fine.
Games I have played so far, Empire are the worst performing. A one dimensional Gunline list can only go so far and that is the problem with Empire in general, that is all they have. Other units in the roster are mediocre. Yeah, if you roll well for your gunline list, great, but if not, it all falls apart very quickly.

As a bretonian lady such "fancy" things aren't for me, but they are very effective for sure.
Idk you get a 5+ ward save against it and a 4+ or 6+ armour unless plague of rust is in play, I find my helblaster can kill 2 knights of the realm a turn, usually shoots for 2 before lines close
@@lucaswatson1913 I agree, but at least personally I will basically always have a 5+ regen on all my important units too.
