Tell me about it!!! I am 31, listened to Jim since I was born (literally went to sleep to his music as a baby) and NEVER knew there was a video for this!
Oh Karla - why isn't music as much fun as it used to be? Nowadays we are supposed to think all these highly choreographed indentikit twerkers in videos are sexy but you knock their socks off!
Rest in peace Jim Steinman. The lord of excess, the greatest song writer of all time. You'll never know the impact you had on my life but you were the greatest! Thank you for everything and God Speed Jim! God Speed!
"When they decide that I'm gone ... I know they're gonna try to put me to rest but I won't be afraid ... Because I know, I know there's dance after death." Poignant.
Such a great song writer, performer, producer this world needs good people like Mr Steinman. Also, I remember the first time I saw the beautiful Miss Karla DeVito & yes a immediate love, just love her bright eyes.
The white shorts outfit with the white stockings she's wearing near the end of this video is the same one that she's wearing on the cover of her "Is This a Cool World or What?" album.
I hear you there; I only just found this! I guess I'd say its length was what kept it out of serious rotation on MTV, but then again, there have been some epics since then, so who knows?
Yes for years I'd only heard the album version.....but I absolutely love the video ..only one thing I would say is that the part where she says "i've got a new step for yot ...bet you've never seen nothing like this before" it is better left to your imagination.

his sounds fresher today than it did back then, Written off as a parody of Paradise But No this really stands up as another amazing Steinman composition, The vid brings it even more to life
I have spent 51 years performing. Almost all of it in a group called Elvis and meat loaf. I did the Elvis part but I'm also a huge meat loaf fan. Being a fan of Mr loaf you become a fan of Jim steinman. I loved most of this song and thought it was very true to his style and could have been a very big hit but, you knew that was going to be a butt in here there's something I never liked. I hate the name and hook line dance in my pants. If that one line were changed I really think this could have become a big hit much like paradise by the dashboard light. I was lucky to get to see steinman, meat loaf, and Elvis perform in concert. All three had a great effect on my life and I have nothing but admiration for them. Still can't stand that hook phrase dance in my pants LOL
I wasn't familiar with this song, and though I love a lot of Jim Steinman's work, the title put me off and I imagined it would have graphic and embarrassing lyrics about some guy's erection. Finally clicked on the video a few days ago when it showed up on my RUclips suggestions and danged if this isn't the most fun song I have ever heard.
You Know Jim Steinman was on the set of Rocky Horror, working on 🦇 out of 🔥 with Meatloaf in between takes and was great friends with Richard O'Brien and Tim Curry?
Oh how lucky have I been in the 90s going to a small Gothic Club in East Germany with the DJ not being my friend, but loving the fact that I was turned off by the 'underground mainstream'. He played this song twice just to get me on the dancefloor. And after all it brought the others, too.
There was a studio version in 1979 It was shown to CBS live with Meat and Jim in the room When Jim heard the vocals he couldn't believe it and to ease the tension Meat Loaf belted out "Rory Dodd fucked my wife" Brilliant story It was rerecorded with Steinmans vocals Everything else is original
@@garybates5505 meat loaf was blessed with an absolute amazing voice but Jim has much more talent...he can sing, write lyrics and music as well as playing piano. Now Freddy Mercury has got a voice as good as meatloaf and plays piano and writes his own songs. So there's only one Fred
Lots of folks say the songs on Bad for Good are like sequels to Bat out of Hell - it's because the album was originally intended to be Bat out of Hell 2 and the original album title was "Renegade Angel" but Meat's voice was crocked after so much touring on Bat 1 so, according to an interview with Jim when the album came out, I think it was in Sounds or the New Musical Express, - Meat told Steinman to release it himself with his blessing and the promise that once Meat had recovered they would make Bat 2 - or Dead Ringer as it became. So, this is the original Bat 2 and Dead Ringer would have been Bat 3 if not for Meat's voice crocking.
Wife and I picked up up the vinyl at a garage sale. Had no idea who Jim Steinman was or what his music sounded like. Just thought it was a hilariously 80s looking cover for 5$. Why not right? Fast forward a couple years to us finally getting a record player... To say we were not prepared for this even like this would be an understatement. Let alone expect it to be an assault on your senses in the very best kind of way.
I had to wait 44 years to finally see the video for this song?
Totally worth it
Tell me about it!!! I am 31, listened to Jim since I was born (literally went to sleep to his music as a baby) and NEVER knew there was a video for this!
Who else owns a copy of Bad For Good and absolutely thinks it's excellent?
Got this album. Great album
Excellent indeed!!
Yes got the album one of the best ever
I've even got a copy on cassette tape from back then 😀
Me :)
Jim Steinman has died. He was a musical genius, I am heartbroken.
Me tocó...
Nah... He is still Rocking on the edge of the grave. :)
@@LordAlacorn True! There IS dance after death!! ;-)
Meatloaf died
Hey VEVO - might be nice to mention Jim’s duet partner here - Little Bo - me💕🌸
YOU

RIGHT!
What a lovable performance...
Thank you, Karla!
❤
So much fun!
Oh Karla - why isn't music as much fun as it used to be? Nowadays we are supposed to think all these highly choreographed indentikit twerkers in videos are sexy but you knock their socks off!
Karla DeVito - One of my favorite singers EVER!
You're so amazing on this song/in that video :-)
Jim and Meatloaf now reunited. R.I.P. boys! The greatest showmen of an immortal era.
I would love to believe
Yes they were I wanted to see meatloaf really bad
Rest in peace Jim Steinman. The lord of excess, the greatest song writer of all time. You'll never know the impact you had on my life but you were the greatest! Thank you for everything and God Speed Jim! God Speed!
the same by me
Don't worry. The will be back, as a bat out of hell ...!
Totally worth waiting for.@@boyechristensen3073
The video is almost perfect in its Jim Steinman eccentricity, humour, campness, bizarreness.
I'll bet he was a lot of fun to be friends with. What an awesome guy.
If you don't go over the top you won't see what's on the other side -Jim Steinman
As weird as it is to admit, the Bad For Good might be my favorite Steinman related album
you're not the only one !!
Only Jim steinman can take a 3 minute homage to Chuck Berry songs and make you spend 7 minutes listening to it
This music video featurette was ahead of the curve for 1981
This is like Paradise by the Dashboard Light part 2
"When they decide that I'm gone ... I know they're gonna try to put me to rest but I won't be afraid ... Because I know, I know there's dance after death." Poignant.
Glorious. Why isn't music fun any more?
She's a good singer
Omg there's a music video. How am i only just seeing this???
NatBat just discovered this after reading the recent Meat Loaf biography. Very interesting🤪
Happened to hit record on this back in the eighties. Worth it
RIP Jim.
May you always be dancing on the edge of the grave.
"Dancing on the edge of the grave" RIP Jim, you'll be alive forever.
Just found out Jim Steinman has just passed away aged 73 . . "There's dance after death"
This is Steinman! I just want him back
This music video game me a complete Rocky Horror vibe, because it's a lot of fun! R.I.P. Jim Steinman.
I love Jim Steinman, his music sensibility and his sense of humor 🥰
This needs to be remastered at 8K! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Steinman is a music god!
An entire Chorus Line number for $5, even in the 80's that was a complete steal.
If there was no Jim Steinman their would be no Meat Loaf.
You got that right !
Basically Paradise by the Dashboard Light part 2. Love this album. The beat is yours forever Mr Steinman. Thank you.
He definitely blessed us when he gave us those songs.
@@Bahama3ay true
This video is hilarious, I love Jimmy's silliness. What a legend.
May he dance after death ✌🏼
I would hope he was teaching the angels to write and Meat’s teaching them to sing the great songs
He was an extremely talented ledgenb
I would hope he is teaching the angels to write songs and Meat is teaching them to sing those masterpieces.
Beautiful thought, f I do say so

Very sad to hear of his passing - I still have a hell of a lot to learn about rock n roll - and with Jim gone who will teach me?

She always was a great singer and it's so sexy when she growls her notes
