What a tune. No one writes a ballad like Mr Steinman did. Rest well Jimmy.

Amazing songwriter but didn’t have the voice to convey the emotion of the lyrics That’s why meatloaf was the ultimate partner

Lots of folks say the songs on Bad for Good are like sequels to Bat out of Hell - it's because the album was originally intended to be Bat out of Hell 2 and the original album title was "Renegade Angel" but Meat's voice was crocked after so much touring on Bat 1 so, according to an interview with Jim when the album came out, I think it was in Sounds or the New Musical Express, - Meat told Steinman to release it himself with his blessing and the promise that once Meat had recovered they would make Bat 2 - or Dead Ringer as it became. So, this is the original Bat 2 and Dead Ringer would have been Bat 3 if not for Meat's voice crocking.

Oh, I do. Got annoyed when he formed Meatloaf. Jim Steinman threw away his talent to do that. Still mad at Alan Parsons brilliant writer employed brilliant instrumentalists and what does he do? form The Who. At least James Taylor whom I love never changed

I could picture Meatloaf singing this song. The same goes for Don Henley’s Boys of Summer. It was written for Tom Petty but he didn’t want it.

RIP Jim. I've commented on so many videos, kinda sad I only came across this Jim Video tonight. I grew up on Bat out of Hell in the 80's, and remember buying Bat II shortly after release in the 90's, on cassette. I played that tape til its death. lol Jim and Meat.. Jim's sound is what drew me to meatloaf more than meats voice. In every Jim Song that meat never sung, I hear Meat's voice. I am such a Jim/meat/Rory nerd. :P

Wife and I picked up up the vinyl at a garage sale. Had no idea who Jim Steinman was or what his music sounded like. Just thought it was a hilariously 80s looking cover for 5$. Why not right? Fast forward a couple years to us finally getting a record player... To say we were not prepared for this even like this would be an understatement. Let alone expect it to be an assault on your senses in the very best kind of way.

Sounds like a B side or something that didn’t make it on to BAOH. Steinman was hit and miss but when he hit, it hit hard and would become a staple in rock radio forever! Many of his compositions were created long ago and sat waiting for the right time or when needed. It was noted that he would revisit much older works ,dust them off and move pieces around all the way up until the last collaboration with Meatloaf! That explains why the very last recordings were a hard listen. Even the most dedicated fans found that the morbidly dated songs had no place in modern times. sleek production was insult to the injury and couldn’t save the later works
