wouldn't be surprised at all if these "leaks" are actually official early spoilers, disguised as leaks, designed to drum up hype. its already a well-established marketing strategy. they seem to be spread out on a schedule designed for youtubers to make videos around, free advertising.
@@vonaudije1207 You know what I mean. Usually it’s only a few days before the prerelease events start. Here however it’s more than a month ahead of schedule
Just wanted to give you a shout Mike for everything you give in these videos and how (seemingly) effortlessly you continue to weave in the flavor, lore, connected history, and game relevance. Giant tip of the (non-cowboy) hat to you good sir!
You don't have to apologize to me my man, I get it. Wotc has done a ton of damage to the game so why watch a video about something you no longer care about
@@TheMagicHistorian I only click on your vids (and one other MTG channel) because I respect what you do and want you to get the clicks, if MTG ever gets their head out of there butt I will come back to the game (started in 2002 and stopped in 2021)
Kozilek's unsealing is nuts! Curving out to a 7 drop that draws you 3 cards on t4 would be living the dream. t1 birds, t2 KU, t3 4 mana creature (and 2 spawn), t4 7 drop. Gross!
On Wheel of Potential's art.. am I crazy or does anyone else see a broken Sol Ring, Oko's Crown, the hovering sphere from Mox Tantalite, Krarks Thumb, and perhaps the jellyfish from original Mana Drain?
I recall Attune with Aether getting the ban hammer for getting 1 energy and a basic on turn 1; this is replace itself and get 2 energy on turn 1 and can even be a surprise on an opponents end step. I think Tune the Narrative might be more powerful in pauper energy builds and might be ban worthy if there are decks that can abuse it.
I didn't know Wheel of Fortune was Reserve List. Huh. They're renaming Totem Armor?? Ugh, now how am I going to keep it straight for my totem amor decks? I thought Sink into Stupor just meant they were drugging you up (metaphorically) so you didn't care about your worldly problems anymore rather than unmaking you. When you can pay 2 life to get a dual land untapped, I don't think anyone will want to pay 3 life for a mono land. The thing about Marionette Apprentice is it's a watered down Marionette Master before she became a Master. Didn't Tamiyo do that same pose with scrolls instead of the Kamigawa text-magic? SO it could be she's updating her story-storage spells. :D
I really like Marionette Apprentice. However, you're only comparing it to Disciple of the Vault, when you should also compare it to Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat. This creature counts creatures and artifacts hitting the yard, which i think is awesome! Go ahead and bleed opponents when they want to use a treasure token. Pretty sweet, and it's another option to use in Protean Hulk combos in commander. Fun card, but it's more of a toolbox card, where you now have several cards that do mostly the same thing and you get yo pick which one fits the meta or flavor of the deck.
I think I've become a person that's not a fan of leaks. I find myself lacking the proper interest in listening to your thoughts on these MH3 cards and I think I pinpointed why. When spoiler season rolls around your videos usually coincide with other content creators videos, and I watch them together and process different viewpoints on the same cards together. The other creators I tune into don't cover leaks though, so this coverage feels very one dimensional compared to how I usually consume spoiler content. No need to change anything you're doing on my behalf, just sharing something I've noticed about how I enjoy spoilers and how leaks apparently impact that. I think I'll also miss the inclusion of your takes as other content creators cover the spoilers on the corporate overlord approved schedule. (I don't think they'll release these in a manner that conforms to the order you're covering them in so rewatching then will likely still feel disjointed)
I love mtg and will definitely play at home with friends but with an extremely long ban list. I'm done with fnm I'm done with modern I'm done with wizards bull shit.
Wheel of Potential gives opponents a choice. Giving opponents a choice is not something you want to do. I'll bid $0.50 cents, because it seems like a fun card.
Yeah it's been a really long time since we got a new mox. Energy would be fun, or a mox that sacrifices any other token artifact to create one mana, or even a lotus petal but it's a teasure.
1: Corrupted Shapeshifter is neat, Arcades, the Strategist players rejoice. my brother's play style matches what he wants to do and he thinks he can play changelings in his deck because they count as a "wall" and the "rules" errated all the "wall" creatures to instead have the "Defender" keyword. And he doesn't understand that that only applied to the creatures that were printed as "wall" and was made because of the addition of changelings so changelings can be a "wall" without being assumed to have "Defender." 2: in my opinion, Blackbloom Rogue is a staple for every Syr Konrad, the Grim commander deck. it'll be nice to get a Boggart Trawler for the same reason. 3: Waterlogged Teachings, let's be real, this card is never going to be played as a land and it's always going to be used to fetch Demonic Consultation or Force of Will. This card is way too powerful i'm amazed it's uncommon and commander options with access to Dimir DID NOT need the additional help. There's a reason Mechant Scroll is a sorcery. 4: Dog Umbra makes me angry along with the "Control" rules. This brings me back to Slicer, Hired Muscle. Your putting Slicer, Hired Muscle under an opponents CONTROL. The equipment attached to slicer GOES with him, so your also putting those Artifact Equipment under an opponents control, but YOU own the equipment so if they ever "get removed" from slicer they go to your field or graveyard. Any triggers they get from attacking or combat damage should NOT go to the "owner" of Slicer, Hired Muscle, they should go to the player who currently CONTROLS Slicer, Hired Muscle. Sorry for the tangent this is just always triggering for me. 5: Thank you for your time reading all this.
There are two cards in the set so far that care about Angels, Shilgengar and Kaalia, and there's a card depicting the mutation of Gisela. I'm betting that we're gonna get some Legendary Angels in the set, probably a new Avacyn or Brisela, since they're tied to the Eldrazi.
@@collinbeal I base all my commander decks on 3 color combinations that feature an angel as a commander. I keep praying for a new version of a 3 color angel thats really good.
I think flipside lands should have been a thing since the start of the game the no lands or all lands draws are the weakest part of the game. And the droughts and floods are the times in which luck way out runs skill. Also the more choices a player has the "smarter" they feel playing.

Also, Marionette Apprentice looks like a younger version of Marionette Master. Loving the flavour in the art here.
At this rate we’ll know every card in the set before it’s released.
has there been an instance that that was not the case?

Idk why I haven't heard anyone refer to these new cards by their clear inspiration. It's the Energy Reserve(d list)!
@Hatcher
Marionette Apprentice is a 100% combo piece with another MH3 card leaked called 'Warren Soultrader'; just add gravecrawler and gg.
Oh, the craziness continues right to the end of spoilers.
Waterlogged teachings also had the phyrexian symbol on its cover

I appreciate you sharing these new MH3 leaks. Thank you for the video Magic Historian.

Marionette Apprentice + treasure tokens is nuts. Drain my opponents health for mana?! Sure why not

It's a may effect. Each player chooses if they want to lose their hand and draw.
I think you misread "Sink into Stupor." It can only target opponent spells or nonland permanents. 20:50
Sure did, I read it out loud and then promptly forgot about the opponent part

How useful or useless would a black lotus that makes 3 energy instead of mana be?
Welp it's been years, but I want to buy a box of this set on top of getting the decks. WHY MUST THIS SET HOLD SO MUCH THAT I WANT?!
Inundated Library looks like it has a vedalken orrery in the middle. Does this make it an old vedalken library?
Very nice Eldrazis. The Wheel depends of energys so meh.

Waterlogged teachings should be Jeskai land 😢
Yes, mabye even a tapped tri-land with some "downside" like "as it enters the battlefield, each player Scry 1".
Or just dual land in Jeskai colors, Flash/Instant and Jeskai is so iconic
