lol, I was waiting for the moment you put the Loot forest up as a new card, then Karlie returns so you can't really talk about it as you panic end the stream.
Yeah. I keep reconsidering the custom cards I've made, because WOTC keeps creeping up the power and I keep wondering if I underpowered my custom cards.
7/7 for 7 with seven keyword abilities, one of which costs 7 life, is great flavor. What's better? Eldrazi has seven letters, and the flavor text is fourteen words, two sections each of seven words separated by commas. Absolute flavor win.
Oh good, I always wanted Sanguine & Exquisite Blood on bodies affordably costed AND excellent creatures overall. Also, "we're toning down Ward". . . seriously? Seriously Wizards, we knew you were lieing and you still f***ing dissapiointed somehow.
Foundations is going to be exactly what standard needs. It’s going to set powerlevel expectations, define some archtypes, and be building blocks for future sets. People are mad cards do not go through standard and age into old formats… this is doing that. It’s the epitome of what people wanted. Good cards they can play and not rotate and eternal format viable.
MTGO has a bug on Progenitus. the bug is that if you have it as your commander and it dies it shuffles into your library instead of going back to CZ. now your probably saying, "but thats expected behavior because it says instead" well actually, if you have "CZ instead of library" turned on, it should just go back to CZ instead of giving a death trigger.
The Eldrazi and Phyrexian are perfect for new players and just about all decks - nothing fancy, just raw power in their respective forms. If cards came out like this during the Invasion block when I was a kid it would have made my jaw drop.
By god, a mtg set that feels like an mtg set! I hate to say it, but i might actually be tempted to pick up some sealed packs/a box for the first time in a very long time.
10:08 I just had a discussion about this on the rules forum and it appears that your understanding is out of date. It appears that as of Strixhaven that "Mana Value" means exactly what you are understanding "Converted Mana Cost" to mean. RUclips hates comments with external links, but you can confirm this in the keyword Glossary on the wizards website as well on the MTG Wiki site for Mana Value. Meant to be helpful not an attack. I appreciate your content.
Bloodthirsty conqueror is going to be straight up nasty in commander cause it means any opponent even if youre not involved in the damage dealing. Hell shock lands would trigger.
10:14 mana value is the same as converted mana cost, is the new way of templating it to fit more text in cards. What you are thinking of is mana cost, wich would be different across colors and generics.
"Mana Value" is the phrase that replaced "Converted Mana Cost." For it to include all different costs, it would have said for each different "Mana Cost."
@@WhiteWolf-gx8llI actually think mana value sounds nicer and takes up less space on a card, and have you read old cards? Like the truly old cards. So many of them are like books and require looking at the Oracle text to understand. Sometimes new terminology is desperately needed In this case Converted Mana Cost was changed to Mana Value, because WOTC had a change in card design philosophy. They stopped making cards that cared about a cards specific Mana Cost which cares about the exact cost of spells including each individual pip and decided to only use the CMC/Mana Value. Since Mana Cost wasn't going to be used anymore they dropped the word Converted from CMC and changed the word cost to value. Something to consider is CMC is the second phrase WOTC used to describe the cost of a spell the original phrasing is Casting Cost.
@@daemoncarroll8347 I have played the game since 2001. I have read many an old card and can understand all of them without needing to look at the oracle text. New cards on the other hand are worded very poorly, trying to use as few words as possible and makes them vague on how they work sometimes.
@@WhiteWolf-gx8ll I disagree, take artifacts for example. Like Icy manipulator. The original card just shows an activation cost of 1 Mana and doesn't do anything to indicate it should be tapped except it had the super type "mono" mono isn't exactly clear on what it means, and I think you could forgive someone seeing that the og llanowar elves said to tap it and think you don't have to tap icy manipulator and can use it as much as you want. Here is another example howling mine, on nowhere on the og card does it say that the card's effect only works when it is untapped, but I wouldn't blame people misunderstanding that since enchantments, creatures, and lands didn't work that way at the time only artifacts. Let's move on to a sub type Wall. Old wall creatures didn't have the reminder text that they can't attack until later on. So you just had to know your Carnivorous Plant can't attack, and since no subtype in magic except wall has an effect. Like you could infer that it is a wall and normally a wall can't attack in reality, but neither can a singing tree and sure enough the card singing tree can attack despite being firmly rooted in the art and your Carnivorous Plant can't. I will not pretend with the common use of keywords at the moment that new cards are much better, that said newer cards at least have reminder text, and lack extraneous text like the og Nevinyrral's disk which says it enters tapped in a convoluted way and after saying it destroys all artifacts feels the need to say it destroys itself. Which can easily lead to the confusion that if card says it effects all cards of a type that includes itself and lacks that text then it should be excluded. We should note I am not even pointing out low hanging fruit like Chains of Mephistopheles which people use a flow chart for.
@@daemoncarroll8347 Never had trouble understanding mono, poly and continuous artifacts but your argument is invalid, wizards literally changed that within the first year of the game because it was weird. CMC had been in use for over 20 years before they changed it, are you going to argue next that removal of the mana pool was a good thing as well, which existed for 25 years. both of these things were well understood and didn't need changing. Also to your edited comment plenty of cards still refer to mana cost "you may cast this spell without paying it's mana cost."
@@109968shadowboy ya, that one was too strong lol. But the principles were sound. Make cool decks that people want to play. And with enough diversity the cards won’t become $50-90 mythics.

This set has completely solidified my decision to leave this game. If this is what wizards thinks is acceptable for beginners and acceptable to be in standard for 5 years, I'm glad I'm leaving.
I want to put Helm of the Host on Arahbo. I imagine it should keep triggering the Arahbo ETB even though it's a token due to that "or", and makes all the rest of the cats beefier.
