Don't typically comment on YT much (I'm generally pretty private), but your journey has helped me keep pushing. I've had various injuries in my three year (so far) running journey. I've had to resort to cross training and seeing you go through the same helped me. Just finished my first marathon and exceeded my own expectations and had a blast doing it!

If you are in the UK and under 30, charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) offer free screenings. As a runner, it's probably not a bad idea to pay for an ECG and maybe echo cardiogram every few years. I have a resting HR of around 33 which flagged as HCM, so typically get checked every 5 years or so

Well done Ben. Ran the race myself and although it felt easy enough early on,by mile 10 I was incredibly hot, very strange conditions. My wife saw that poor man go down at the line while waiting for me to come in. It really shook her and our day afterwards. was very sombre instead of celebratory. The race was as usual with the nyrr brilliantly organized but maybe some people just don't prepare enough as I saw many, maybe 20 go down throughout the race suffering horribly. You just don't see that in a half normally.

It was scary, there were over 20 that had to go to the hospital while running, so you're spot on. Not the ideal conditions for us at all. I was so surprised the medical flags were set to Green or low threat as far as conditions the whole race.

Also kudos for mentioning the poor runner who didn't made it home, may he rest in peace. I had once witnessed a runner being reanimated by fellow runners at a super hot half marathon and that is a picture that stuck in my mind for month. So, everybody out there, it pays of to make a full medical check-up every once in a while when you are regularly doing marathon or half-marathons!

Having only run in tropical Thailand for the last 3 years, I know how brutal these conditions are! Tough to compare Cambridge to this as a 5 minute time gap is significant, but the conditions were really different and your preparation far from ideal. Sub 80 is a great time, and it is a testament to you for getting it done! I am going to have the opposite soon when I come back to the UK after 3 years in the tropical heat - Bristol half marathon should be a new PB, and I will be able to tell you how much difference the humidity does make! Think I feel the idea for my next series of videos starting to form now. Great video as always - thank you and keep up the great work!
