- Elevate Your Baby Blanket with Stunning Decorative Stitching!
Add a touch of elegance to your lightweight baby blanket with exquisite decorative stitching. This extra step makes it truly exceptional.
Craft it in any size, from a cozy lovey to a luxurious king-size masterpiece.
Use materials like lightweight cotton flannelette, nursery fleece, or microfiber for a soft and comfortable finish.
To ensure your blanket retains its shape and beauty, I recommend pre-shrinking the fabric. Flannelette has a tendency to shrink significantly, and we want the decorative stitching to maintain its perfection even after gifting.
For that radiant, silky touch, I've used rayon yarn made from bamboo. It not only adds a beautiful sheen but also feels incredibly soft.
Feel free to select your preferred cotton or yarn for the blanket stitch
In this tutorial, I'll guide you through every step: starting the blanket stitch, joins, handling corners and finishing the end
Whether you prefer a freehand approach or want to ensure even stitch spacing, you can use chalk or a vanishing ink pen to mark your stitches - I personally recommend a water-soluble ink pen, although a heat-erasable pen works wonders too.
While tradition dictates uniform spacing and stitch length, you can use any measurement.
This simple yet enchanting project is the perfect way to create a heartfelt and cherished gift.
Ideal for occasions like baby showers, housewarmings, birthdays, Christmas, get-well gestures, or simply to let someone know you're thinking of them!

Love the banket stitch. I always think I need to use bias tape and end up crazy, corners never turn out 😵💫This is so nice. Ditching the bias tape 😊 Thank you
You can do it!
I’ve done the blanket stitch for over 40 years and mine has never looked this good. Each start and stop always messed up the pattern. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Blessings.

Two babies arriving soon! I'm going to be a great aunt! Wondering what else you can use for the blanket stitch instead of buying a ball of yarn of which not much is needed. Thank you! Also love satin binding video :)
Great idea!! You could just do a topstitch all around an no blanket stitch. Thanks for watching!😊
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Glad it was helpful! I used size 3 yarn
Why are the seams pressed open? Don’t they close again when blanket is turned out?
Pressing seams flat makes it a lot easier to center the seam on the right side. If you don’t press first, you spend a lot of time trying to roll the sides to put the seam in the middle and you end up with little folds. Pressing seams open is a good practice to get into for better sewing results.
Why didn't you use blanket stitch on your machine?
I wanted a handmade look with chunkier stitching and it’s another technique that I can teach
Thanks for watching😊
