Ronald L. Banks for me, Grief. My husband passed and I am having trouble deciding which things of his to keep, what will I actually use, and what might I regret parting with. At the same time, I feel the need to make this space my own now, because with everything here I feel like he might come home, and letting things go is acknowledging he won’t, and I find myself trying to hold on and let go at the same time and get overwhelmed. He has been gone 9 months and I am working in fits and starts when I feel strong enough to.

I recently got rid of a lot of clothes that I was holding onto, thinking to myself "I will wear it one day". Mind you, most of them I haven't even touched in years! After it was done, I felt relieved just like I got rid of a lot of weight! I've been seriously thinking about my buying habits and getting the things that I need rather than the things that I want and it has helped me tremendously. I've been subscribed to your channel for months now and I don't think I comment much... thank you. People like you are a motivation for people like me. Thank you for sharing because it really helps getting focused. Stay Blessed!
I have been decluttering one item per day for just about 1 yr now. It is getting harder to find something each day, but seems there is always something. Yes, that self esteem boost is so real! And the clarity, wow. I feel anxious when I am around messy areas now, in homes I might visit. It's good to know others have these same feelings too, as a result of letting go of the excess. This A.M. , I passed countless yard sales on my way to the gym and smiled to myself thinking that the stress of having to have one of those would no longer be something for me to worry about. Pure freedom from the chaos of clutter is priceless😁
I used to take my things to the flea market. I later realized that I could make more money by going to work instead. Thereafter, I donated to friends and family as well as donation boxes.
Rather than one item per day, I declutter the entire house every 5 years, because my life has changed. When my kids were young, I'd declutter every Spring and Fall.
My biggest declutter is from the person I live with. I cannot afford to live elsewhere. However, I set boundaries. I limit time and conversation so that I can be free to enjoy myself the majority of the day. It's a survival technique.
That’s exactly how I felt after I decluttered... I felt lighter and refreshed and not prone to anxiety and nervousness . Thank you so much for the reminder so true all your points!
Just started my minimalist journey. I recently started watching your videos and have been enjoying them... short but straight to the point without all the OVER excitement that most RUclipsrs have nowadays.
My favorite part of decluttering is that it makes easier to clean my home. My home is more tidy and there's less to clean and worry about. I just made a video on mental decluttering it's also an important part in a minimalist's journey
Love the 5th point. I have a multi-tasking, achieving ppl around me and I admire them but it’s also necessary to stop comparing myself with those ppl and should rather declutter tasks in the room in my brain then focus on what I really love to do and what I want to do. Chances are many around us but if you’re not focused or sharp enough to grab the one you really want, you might just skip it and keep on looking around the unimportant ones.
Hubby and I have decluttered stuff and donated it to a church rummage sale and to an animal shelter rummage sale. We donated books, and magazines to a public library. We donate to organizations that do good thing for others. We felt happy to do this and we have more room in our home. Others may just need the stuff we donated. I have noticed that stuff, that I don't need, just brings me down. Forgiveness helps, too. Love your videos. Have a great day. Love positive messages. From Indiana. Gm

It's very difficult to let go of the negative things that have happened in my life. I have to stop and recognize the worry and anxiety. Then, force myself to focus on something positive.
I loved the comment about letting go gives self esteem because it is the truth! It is the total opposite of the advertising lie that you need x to be good enough. Nope you need to be self controlled and not buy some useless item and sabotage your self esteem. 👊✌️

At age 70, I enjoy and appreciate your presentations, and take this decluttering seriously. Three years ago, I downsized 50% of the contents of my 3 bedroom home and moved to a 1 bedroom apartment. After much thought, I have begun now to officially minimize another 50% of my apartment in preparation of moving into a studio. Scary. However, I get the association of decluttering my stuff AND my inner self. Once that's accomplished -not if- I have no doubt I will be more content than I ever have. I want to experience that feeling. Thank you for the encouragement.

I looked up and seen that I had things because I got them from love ones not knowing that when I die my sons will have to throw it all away. I’m selling it now as we speak on let go.

Another good one!! It is so hard to let go of clutter that it is not physical clutter. I know I need to but man it is hard. LOL
This is so true. Every time another time leaves my house, I save time cleaning it. Lol. Little by little, I’m getting there. Do you have a video on a capsule wardrobe? I’m not exactly sure what it is, but I like a lot of color and I’m not sure it would work for me. Excellent video!

Great video. Love a collarless shirt. Still working on the little things. The “maybe I’ll need this one day” thing. Trying to go by the minimalists 20/20 rule.
Keep working at it Kandace. Remember your journey is always going to be unique to you. So stay true to you! Keep growing, I’m excited for you!
And thank you! I definitely like this shirt a lot also!
I keep a bag in the closet just for things I plan to put in a donation box. To prevent regrets, I wait at least one month before getting rid of everything.
This is a great video as well as being very healthy for me. I am decluttering my life and it feels so good. I feel like I can breathe and have some clarity for myself . This video is full of positive information and I really didnt know I do not need all this stuff. People as well as stuff is so unimportant right now. Me and JESUS are doing go GOOD.
