There are a flood of influencers releasing demos of these new little Rolands today, but I went to your channel because I knew you would use them to make some great music. Your explanation of the features and workflow were clear and to-the-point, too. Well done!
she´s not a paid infulencer? ok. then it really must be her opinion that these little pieces of plastic-trash are cool. I mean, wow, 1 bassdrum, 1 snare etc... what a ripoff for the money
For me, as a pure DAWless jammer, who lives the term "single gear jam" and whose motto is "Less gear, more fun", this series comes at the right time. But it was your jam, your explanations and your love for the details, your passion, which you can clearly feel again in this video, that convinced me to buy this series for my channel and my community. Thanks Rachel, deep from my heart.
Not sure I get the whole less gear more fun thing. But then I come from a different time and don't find this manufactured sound very pleasing. Not knocking those who like it, and Rachel has a very nice voice. I just prefer hard hitting rock and roll played on real instruments. Clearly taste is subjective , and mine is no more legitimate than anyone else's. But I have to wonder if the technology drives the music or the other way around. I mean, amps were turned up until they distorted, that prompted boxes to bring that in under controlled conditions. And the guitar effects industry was born.
@@Dude_Slick The problem with making music with the DAWless (without a PC workstation such as Ableton) is that you quickly get into the rush to keep buying new synths, since you rarely want to admit that it's the lack of talent that makes my music not great. I don't think so at all. My trend is in the other direction. I recommend jamming with as few devices as possible so that you can work on your creativity. That really helps enormously. After all, I was the first and as far as I know I'm the only one in the world to jam with a single Volca Bass for 45 minutes. You can find the video on my channel.
@@Dude_Slick I’m definitely of another generation, but I love seeing videos like this. It’s inspiring seeing the younger generations creating music. I can appreciate many genres, but the limitless(imo) approach of adding/subtracting gear(in my case, eurorack modular) to find the perfect balance of sound for a project is satisfying. I won’t be buying any of these roland modules because modular is already expensive and these wouldn’t fit into my rig. I do have a couple of eventide H9 guitar effects pedals I use with my mackie mixer. They’re small and extremely powerful & clean sounding units. I miss the old rock and roll. I see rap having that edginess and grit that rock once had in a mainstream way. I’m glad music is still saying something and not just regurgitating corporate and country/government propaganda. And with spaces becoming smaller, musicians and hobbyists need smaller footprint gear to make it happen. Costs are more important now than in the past. Buying a Moog in the 70s was unheard of without extremely deep pockets. Buchlas weren’t cheap either.
@@EnviroDouglas you might be surprised but I am at the 50th and my experience with the dawless community is ..it's the older generation using hardware synths ..for reasons. Most of the younger musicians dondt even know that there is a life beyond Ableton and other DAW
Love how you embrace the tech. Realtime morphing/mixing/editing, etc.. Still have the NI Core controller from 15 years ago. And, Spectrasonics Stylus RMX is a early version of this type of looping/morphing. I've always enjoyed playing around with it. Even 20 years ago, the artist with the high end Macs & software were doing this type of thing. Was referred to as "underground". You have very creatively embraced this, and keep evolving with it, but with more song writing style combined. Totally dig it! 👌
I know music is not a competition but amongst everything I found on the AIRA Compact series, this video stands out as the one with the most convincing song. Where other videos treated the E-4 as a joke or gimmick, you are using it artistically to great effect. Awesome.
Always amazing demos. If I was an electronic instrument developer you'd be one of the first people i send a new product to because you always do them justice.
I've seen a lot of producers online but they talk so much but this lady right here she don't talk she get right to it off the fly she's very very very talented . I haven't seen no men spin off stuff like this off the fly at all online period just making it up beautiful music.
OMG this is utterly amazing. I already have the E4 & love it but this video has done more for Roland sales then anything else as I now intend to get the other two AND you are British!!!
What a beautiful song!!! Have you released it ? Would love to have it in my playlist 🙂. What a great work and many thanks for explaning those little Roland weapons! Good stuff!
This was a great music example on what this is capable of doing! I kind of wish to hear a continuation of this though, maybe adding more elements on the go & a third chord progression would be amazing as well! :) x
Such a fascinating video. Was not expecting a full song either.👏👏Most folks would just do a 30 sec jam and then onto the gadget.. Thankfully you didn't and belted out another bomb. Great stuff ,made me simile too.
I actually bought T-8 and E-4 just because this video made me eager to perform music, though I have no skill and experience to compose songs nor any kinda music. It means you inspired even a totally beginner foreigner (I'm from Japan). Your performance is incredible. Keep it up ;)
That was a happy little Jam ... i have been lacking inspiration from a long time to create music, but when i see you doing these little jams and sessions i helps me bring more ideas ... much love RKC
Wow!!! Very impressive!! Very creative and quite the voice you have too! Loved it! Thank you for sharing and introducing these amazing machines. I think you inspired me to buy these!
Tbh. I think Roland did a better job than Korg in this one because this is actually performance designed. They know that there are artists that don't use Ableton that might use stuff like this, especially for guitarist or anyone in the industrial rock genres. I hope the continue with these. Rachel always does excellent demonstrations. No one else better.
yeah..the issue i have is you cant make patterns and save um, you have a lot of power with it, but you have to rebuild everything ground up for a set. , if you drag out an SQ -1 or something you can save stuff to, i think that would help next iteration i hope they put in pattern saving
Good example that talent and ideas are far more important than gear. That some people will create good music with whatever they have available while probably most of the gear on this planet will never be used to its potential.
I love making music outdoors., and these new gear from Roland. First time seeing you on RUclips. Subscribed. Thanks for the review, an cool forest jam.
I liked right away, before i herd anything. Awesome to sit in nature with flowers around you, haha. And a reason im seeking some hardware to take with me out in nature. Been looking at roland verselab mv-1.
i have owned the 303 and the 505 but i currently run er1 and em1 with a dj800 mixer and numark TTXs. the pitch lock and 50% speed makes for an ultimate experimental experience.
I really love these! Can you speak to the E-4’s capabilities as compared to the VT-4? I’ve not seen any review really go in depth with external midi for the harmonies (which is how I use the VT-4) I really like that you can choose specific harmonies in the chord as opposed to having to play them yourself, but I’m still not sure I’d want to upgrade as the VT-4 is pretty powerful, has XLR for the mic and also has a lot of tweakable parameters by midi sysex
Oh these are neat! I often take my two Pocket Operators (Sub and KO) to open mics and use them to spice up my guitar loops, but they aren’t the friendliest tools to use on the fly.

To be fair Rachel could make a banger of a track with just her voice and some pots and pans 😀
Yes! By far my favourite from the several demoes I’ve seen 😍
Just discovered Rachel... totally agree.
she´s not a paid infulencer? ok. then it really must be her opinion that these little pieces of plastic-trash are cool. I mean, wow, 1 bassdrum, 1 snare etc... what a ripoff for the money
@@KR4FTWERK - so what are the cheaper options which are better value for money?
The best promotional video for these Roland devices 🤩

That's a lot of talent right there. It just goes to show these little Roland's can do amazing things in the right hands.
That's... just... amazing!!!
Such a great combination of talent and technology! 🙂
So good! So much talent in Rachel - she’s an astronaut in the music space.
Turning knobs is talent now ?
@@cansee0 That’s a pretty provincial viewpoint if that’s all you ‘can see’.
@@cansee0 - Just as much as pressing keys on a keyboard! Anyone can do it, but knowing which ones to press and when is a true talent.
If Rachel is not getting big phat checks from Roland before uploading videos...she's underselling her talents!
I have the T-8 and J-6, these are so much fun, and the analog emulation is incredibly well done.
Great atmosphere around you . Flowers, trees, silence. The very thing you need for music and the brightness of the mind, nature is cool.
Wow this a great performance and also shows how powerful those AIRA devices are.

Amazing performance as usual, great song as well. 🔥 Thanks for sharing Rachel. Visuals i.e. location and video recording 🤯🤩
