    I like how Travis is really trying to push the Sirius Secret Handshake to Josh! He's like " You gotta learn it, it's time." I love the fact that as they've matured as individuals and in their music, that they all can be silly and childish too! Coheed and Cambria For Even After Life!!

    Just watched the first 5 minutes of The Fiction Will See the Real then switched to this. Claudio seems like a different man now. Of course he was great then, but he just really seems like he's where he needs to be in life now. On point, out of his shell, genuine, and happy. The whole band actually. Great to see these guys doing so good.

    32:35 you can't label, or break down Coheed, they are an essence, a feeling, a movement. the band/music/lyrics/artwork all progress together and in an over analytically world like the one we live in people tend to try and label or brand something. the true children of the fence just go with it, knowing that it will forever change you and be part of you, and in some instances guide you through life. the band/movement as a whole will forever be in it's own class, alongside Jimi, Cash, and Elvis.

    • @SAagreedSA
      @SAagreedSA 9 лет назад +3

      thatguytheory They're pretty good prog rock, especially for a band younger than 1978
      I like them too, but defying classification is not one of their attributes. Love Claudio's creativity but you can definitely find other bands doing this kinda thing, in their own way. The sci-fi is a newer kick but even that was done before they started doing it.

    • @notDavidWayne
      @notDavidWayne 9 лет назад

      SAagreedSA I understand your point of view but to me they are in a Class all of their own as they pretty much changed my life (possibly saved it) from a devastating time in my life. I've always turned to music to express myself and to deal with difficult times and positive times, I believe that the music you listen to is a reflection of yourself much as the artists who Write the music, it is a reflection of themselves at the time and the feelings they're going through. Good writers at least that chose music as a form of expression over an income. I was going through a rough breakup that was hard to deal with when Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Vol. 1 came out. It just so happens that Claudio was going through a similar situation while writing this album, before (fortunately for him) getting back with his now Wife, so that album help me cope in a way that I credit to changing/saving my life. I didn't intend this to be so lengthy, I'm just glad that you enjoy Coheed and continue to support great music!

    • @SAagreedSA
      @SAagreedSA 9 лет назад +1

      I get a lot out of reading about Claudio's process, as a songwriter - I cottoned on to the fact that it was mostly autobiography and secondarily a story about some sci-fi stuff on my own, but reading about the specifics of the albums has made my appreciation for them grow. And, hey, I LOVE me some Devin Townsend music. Really good stuff. But most people think he's a nerd who makes weird music about dysfunction and puppets, him included I think. Sometimes we get a disproportionate amount out of somebody just doing their own thing - artists invite that more than most, I guess. If that's you and Coheed, that's totally cool, too.

    • @notDavidWayne
      @notDavidWayne 9 лет назад

      SAagreedSA Sorry I didn't realize I was on my other account, I'm thatguytheory as well lol. I'm also more biased because I've been following them since '02 and I first saw them open for Thrice and Thursday, since then I've seen them a total of 15 times (If you count the 4 nights of the Neverender as 4 individual shows) Over the years not just their music has progressed, but the mastering of their craft and learning of their instruments more and more has lead them to put on better and better LIVE Shows over time. I tend to feel a sense of "growing up" with the band and obviously while not being a part of the creative process, can feel a sense of contempt as if I was there and sometimes the songs are directed towards me (As I suspect a lot of die hard fans would). I know it sounds crazy but I feel this is why to me, they deserve to be in a class of their own and will always be the best band ever in my eyes.

    • @SAagreedSA
      @SAagreedSA 9 лет назад +2

      I agree with you that it has been cool seeing a bunch of dudes who were very clearly inspired by At The Drive In turn, over time, into a hella competent and very creative prog band in their own right. Nobody more so than Claudio, who has in his career not only matured a lot in his vocal control, but also not allowed his ego to get in the way of making wise decisions like lowering their general performance range so as to better fit within his easily accessible vocal range. He was pitchy but really high-pitched back in the SSTB days, and over time he's realized it matters more how WELL you sing, not just how /high/. Still has it for those high songs live, though, with the modest downtune at least.
      I feel exactly the same about Devin that you do about Coheed, though - some of the first real music I listened to of my own free will, and I got to watch him grow as an artist and deepen tremendously in his understanding of the world and in his expertise at conveying that understanding through songwriting. It's a heck of a treat getting to "grow up" with bands like that.
      I unfortunately lost touch with C&C's music for about five years after Good Apollo came out, then ended up getting NWFT and YoTB both in 2010. Then I didn't pay attention for ANOTHER five years, and just got their two newest albums (The Afterman ones) last week. Suffice it to say I am incredibly impressed with their continued progress as a band, but I don't feel like I get to claim the same kind of relationship to 'em as a fan that someone like yourself would.
