- In this video we finally get our 1954 Chevy to run under boost, but first we have to get the emergency brakes working along with some custom marker light lenses. Then finish it off with a wheel alignment before we can take it on the road.

Hey folks we've had a busy summer so far but holidays and random travel are over and we will be back on the 49 GMC next round. Thanks for hanging in there everyone :)
Enjoy summer we will have snow before you know it.
Love everything you do, Brent!
No Rush Brent :) and take time all need !
I love it when you and Karl get together. Take all the vacation you want
@@HalfassKustoms Ooooo I saw in one of the videos the BUICK was out front of the shop. That’s one of my first videos I watch of you and love that knuckle dragging arm hanging out. Hope you get back on that ground hugging Buick soon.
After the old shop met it's maker. From watching you & Esther struggle coming to grips. To cleaning up. To making the side garage your build area & bringing this in & creating it on a scissor lift. To watching it finished today. Brought full circle how not to live in your poop & keep rising to do better. Your an inspiration & i thank you Brent for taking us along
Thanks man.
The '54 is Rad!!! My Dad had one when we were growing up!!!😊
Brent, I worked in a plexi shop and we just sanded it to look frosted. Great project!
I was thinking the same thing hit it with 240 done
@@NZMOPARJust a thought: Could you find a headlight assembly that could have the
lense look you need. If so remove and take to your work bench and with cutting wheel
get the lense material you need..may work?..😮.
worked in a window factory and we used to frost windows with nac tac....work really good
oppps...big thumbs...lol...mac tac
You could make your own lines on the blinker lenses just by taking your knife and running it across the painted part in the pattern you wanted or even a little dremmel bur in your hand held dremmel tool. God bless you and your family Brent ✌️ 😊👍
Man I always have so much to say. I love you talking about teaching Ryder the fast cut. There is a cruise down here in Iowa (Cruise to the Woods) the 1st Sunday of October. I would love to see you and Esther bring the truck down 😃if you google it you will find the info, this will be the 41st year. I love the patina...maybe a bit of washing and some boiled linseed. Oh they make that frost in see through and more opaque, in my store they were next to each other and you couldn't tell the difference until you read the small print. Anyway as always I want to thank you for bringing us along...I'll catch ya on the next one...later!!
Always enjoy hanging with you in the shop.
Love this car! Hope to see this in your regular fleet
Hi My Dear Friend Very Very Great Job ❤❤❤❤❤
My 35 Ford coupe street rod has the same look, my saying is “shiny paint causes stress” . Have fun in all of your adventures.
Thank you, Brent. the car is looking real super. Stay safe and enjoy.
Brent back at it again !!!
Enjoy all your videos I watch several channels on you tube and yours is my favorite. I hope you continue to make them.
Hello Brent, that 54 is so cool. Thanks for the rip. Take care 👍
Some electrical is not boring. Especially troubleshooting.
Gets down the road real good . Nice ride Thanks for sharing
My favourite American body shape era, of all your projects this one would do me . . . I was 6 when it was made and could see myself finishing driving it
I personally think that the earlier 50's GM cars and trucks were too bulbous and preferred the 46 era or 55 plus versions but to each his own I guess.
@uncleslack1 Square bodies do nothing for me I'm afraid
Nice work on everything. The outro was funny. Something I've done more times then I care to remember. The '54 is running pretty good and seem to be just waiting to roast those old tires off. Look forward to seeing more. Be safe and stay well.
I like the custom brackets you made for e-brake cable!
You have a great collection of old iron.
Brent, look for Tesla brake setups to scrounge, they have electric E brakes. AND a lite sand blast on acrylic will frost it
Brent, I always use the parking brake. The '54 Chevy front parking lenses came out fine. Yes, I remember the clear ones are factory, yellow are aftermarket.
Love all your videos, 1st time to get in early to speak with you from Australia 🇦🇺 😅 cheers Rhys
Awsome car, Brent!!
Ow yeah Brent is back. Thanks for sharing your content and take care.
It's funny to hear air/fuel gauge and 1954 in the same sentence. In 1954 the air/fuel gauge would have been the carburetor!😆
Wow - like that two-wheeled truck!
Gotta see this rig rip when its tuned and cant wait for the interior, doing the same thing with my 50 coupe, that car has STYLE
You certainly did a awesome job on this old car I really enjoy your videos brother Cheers brother
FAST CUT Works Very Nice Brent Coming along Nicely
Brent it seems you need posi. You could weld it up. The old school before NHRA. They would weld the spiders up. Then get some 60s all around and black steel wheels. Talk about a gravel monster. That would rock. Just dreams
Hi Brent, so back in the day I used to build signs and there is a paint you can use to back spray on plastic. It is called grip flex and the first color that you spray on it usually is the color that shines when you shine a light behind it you can actually spray color after color over the first color but it's always the first color that shines through. Man I'll tell you we made a lot of neat signs like sailboats out on the water and stuff like that for different apartment complexes and it never failed me. Anyway since you you did videos on the 54 I have been looking for one I think that is such a cool car! Definitely worthy of sporting around on the road. Brent you and the family take care and God bless.
No matter what your working on its always entertaining
Looks like a cool project! Amazing work! 👏
Great job, good to see it on the road . By golly you’re going to be busy on the tractor and slasher knocking down all that grass once it dries out.
Thanks for a good one Brent
nice deer spine in the plymouth... lol
DA the plastic on one side and that will work. It gives a nice frost look. Love the videos.
I always thought the bugs were bad in northern Minnesota, and then I visited Canada in summer 😂
COOL Car :)
Brent that s10 brake assembly is perfect for the citric acid powder solution dissolves all that rust without damaging anything, will come out like new metal, just blast it off with the hose ifbit needs a lil longer just plop it back in give it another day, half-day ect. Works amazing. I was amazed when I learned it and tried it myself so....sharing a great handy tip.
1 cup to one gallon of water in a bucket let it sit overnight you would be amazed, $20 for a 5lb bag of food grade off Amazon. It ain't dangerous like acid acid it citric acid like concentrated lemon juice.
Try bro you will be amazed and so will anyone else.
Luv that patine too, and a new interior is a great idea ! Can't wait to see it done. Hearing that engine roar is music to my ears !
Riding and roasting the tires-I like it!
Great! Another '54 video
The steering of the XJ is very smooth (and this car has the hand brake you talk about at the beginning of the video).
Ester would probably like an interior so things and little "bits" aren't floating around inside the car! Lol! Looking good!
Enjoyed this project
Awesome ride ! ... Front light lens looks like a 3d printing project...
54 belair was my first car i ever bought at 14 years old paid 150 running with a 6cyl 3spd.
Nice to see your '54 Chevy working it's stuff! Thanks Brent!
Looks a little rowdy, and that’s a good thing!!
Thanks for the front end alignment demonstration. That method was a real education and will make my future efforts so much easier & more accurate.
I did alignment off the back wheels using string.I cut a small piece of wood1x1 ,so it fits the out side of the rim on the front tires. Then i use a level and the stick to see if the tires are plumb. Measure from tire to tire, front top and bottom.See if it's the same . Make changes,or adjustments of parts or bushings or shims. I wouldn't do that on a new car I had to drive every day . lol but doing a burn out on a lone country road it works great.
I think it would really look good with baby blue and white paint.👍 Or maybe just a wash job.
Another fine video Brent!
Looking good.
Good to see Pablo!
Brent all you need todo on the lens is sand them on the inside. Sand the with 80 grit on a block in the same direction.
Try sanding the “inside” of the plexiglass. That will give you frosted look and diffuse the light.
Have you ever used the string trick when doing an alignment? Run string around all 4 tires on the side wall, make it snug and look down the string. It will tell you right away where you need to toe in or toe out to make all 4 parallel.
With that machine you have joined the 21 century!! 🎉🎉🎉
Love to watch , just like being there . No matter what you do , you make it interesting , insightful and a real pleasure to watch . thank you so much for sharing . The Chevy has had its ups and downs and is now ready for the little tweaks that come with completing a project . Stuart in Ontario ..
Hey Brent, Speedway Motors has brand new parking light lenses for ‘54 Chevy Belair for $11.34 each. 15.44 Canadian.
I'm sure that most of us that watch you, like cars with that "lived in" look.
Just keep doing your thing, and we'll keep watching.
National animal mosquito or ticks. Lol 😆 Brent you’re a hoot. Pablo missed his ride. 🥲 Thank you for sharing!
💯❤️👊💯
In 62 years old driving since I was 14. Never had I ever used a parking brake. Ever. Well I did sliding around a corner.
WHAT !!! you've never done a " handbrake turn " or two or many more 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lite-em-up......really cool !!
You got your light lenses painted, now just take a screwdriver and scratch half moons in the painted lens for the effect your looking for
Love the 49-54 Chevy's and Pontiac's. Shiny paint attracts door dings.
54 chey marker light lenses sand the backside of the lenses with 180 to 200 works good RICK
Nice!
Hi Brent … could you maybe just sand the inside of the turn signal lenses to frost them up? Instead of paint etc 👍😊 the car is way cool by the way….
I like the 1954 Chevy !
I’ve relayed on E-brake on my ‘05 Yukon twice when it had brake line connection rust away. Ya need um in Kentucky hills just in case !
You were talking about those lens covers the plastic for those signal lights in the front. Remember the old fluorescent lights they had and they had that plastic over them with all the little diamonds in it. Maybe if you got a piece of that and made your covers with it it wouldn't be clear. It would look something like the original. Just a thought.😮
im glad you like it cause its yours i just cant seem to wrap my head around Patina
A big fan of that body style. My brother had one in the early seventy. His first date with his now wife didn't go well. When we got up to do chores the next morning, there was puke on the door. We felt that way about her too. Ha Ha Brian Washington State
What a great sound ❤
If you had a bead blaster, you could use it to frost the plastic lenses.
I came here to say this. Works well
WOW WOW WOW.. 🤠
THAT WAZ Great..👍
Nice when the plan comes together...✔ thx Brent
Looks like you have a new burnout toy. Thanks Brent for the video
All you would have had to do is sand the inside of those lenses with a high grit to get the frosted effect you wanted.
Scavenger hunting da yard fer lenses, no luck-drop back lexan, then fer an e-brake handle, success! N e-brakes set up wif new brackets, tape measure alignment, kinda on da road again.
Agree, leave the outside rough! But, paint the top white, add some lace!🤓
Hey Brent in the UK we have clear turn signals but we use chrome lamps to make them orange
The view through the acrylic reminds me of night 2 of a fishing trip
Hey Brent, just use some 320 on your DA on the inside of the lens works great
Excellent video Brent :) also for Emergency brake handle 1960's General Motors trucks under dash on steering wheel up till 1973 and if any Dodge D250 also D350 Extended van one 12 passenger or old hospital ambulance Mobile have Emergency handle on left side were Emergency pedal in new years I know 1974 to 1976 years were handles! Funny part Brent :) I use Emergency brake always all year around not shame use them and like serivce up keep in good condition when needed! In all 43 years driving have had Emergency brake to stop on 3 vechiles fast was one a 1963 McCormick International B414 Loader tractor Desiel motor farm tractor my late Dad also uncle had farming , other one was tow truck had back years ago and 3 one was 2 cars ! Also sensor breaking down Brent try put Ground strap from battery terminal to near unit with ignition connectors of 10 gauge wire and try see happens!
Good show
Sandblast inside of acrylic to get that frosted look.
The car is coming along nicely 👍👍
That's what happens when you drive them. Be well. Hi Ester.
Great video as always. I hope we will see the truck in the near future, it is really quite nice.
You can buy a roll of window tint and make the turning lights a different colors.... make cool custom lights for alot of your rides
Awesome Video as always ! Thanks Brent !
I feel like that's a tomorrow problem 😅
You should have just hit the back side of those marker lens with a DA with 220 grit paper and you would get that nice frosted look you were after.
Hey man, I've used the clear plastic from car wash soap bottles for temp lenses before, hope that helps.
looking so good
Your parking lights look good. Use next time scratch pad red or green. Rough it up.
Good video!
