I've wasted 56 years of my life not knowing about this man until very recently ........ what a comedy GENIUS! RIP Sir Ken, and may you continue to make us happy.
I was very privileged to work with Ken Dodd, in my first glamorous job in telly. He was exactly the same off stage as on, full of happy energy, he loved to make people laugh - whether it be a royal command performance at the Palladium or the cleaning lady he passed in the corridor. He was very comfortable around women and always looked at the women's faces, in any TV production meetings, to see if we laughed at a joke. He made us roar! The first time we met him, he gave us all nicknames and they stuck! He genuinely respected and enjoyed the company of women, and we adored him. He was quite simply the best stand up comedian Britain has ever produced, or ever will. Why he wasn't knighted 20 years ago as he deserved to be, I will never know. People who saw Ken Dodd perform live were so very, very lucky - there will never be another comic even approaching his talent. Goodnight Sir Ken, sleep tight, your work here is done. It was an honour and a joy working with you. I know your lovely partner Lady Anne will now take good care of your memory and legacy, as she took care of you in life, she is a diamond. XXX
One of the greatest family entertainers of all time if not the greatest .a great comedian who didn't have to turn to swearing or sex to make people laugh .He was a proper real comedian .A true legend a great British asset
Being from Liverpool I remember seeing him as a kid it the 60's and thought he was great. I lent a video to friends here in Australia and they loved it as well but he never came here and was never shown on TV. Some of his songs were heard on radio and I remember a DJ describing him as an English singer. Little did he know of his true talent. Doddy was happy with his career in the UK. Near the beginning he didn't think his act would be appreciated in the South but after an offer he couldn't refuse he agreed to performed in London Palladium. Due to the demand his show had to be extended.
I am a much travelled person and seen many comedians and Ken was the best act ever. Rate him alongside Charlie Chaplin and Stan laurel as the 3 greatest British comedians of all time. RIP 🙏
As the late, great Victoria Wood once said, " In India the widow throws herself on the funeral pyre. Here the widow drags herself into the kitchen, '72 baps Connie, you slice I'll spread ". I imagine there was one hell of a spread for Sir Ken.
No swearing, no ego, just good clean jokes n when he got off with cheating the taxman, that was the iceing on the cake, bringing him to Legendary status, truly a man of the people 👍
If you haven’t watched the full video of his service please watch it. Brilliant tributes & when the congregation applauded as they carried him out I actually cried & 48 year old working class northerners don’t cry easy. He’s gone to join the greats that I remember & miss so much like Morcambe & Wise, Tommy Cooper, Norman Wisdom, The Two Ronnies.... So funny without swearing, being political or nasty to anyone, the comedians of today could learn a thing or two. I hope we see talent like this again someday, but I’m not very hopeful. RIP Sir Ken Dodd
Ricky Tomlinson was on TV talking about the death of Carolina, How heartbroken he was blah blah. When asked about her funeral he replied, I couldn't go because I find funerals too upsetting? Yet here he is playing to the media.?
Saw Ken Dodd Live in Weston Super Mare, and had 5 hours of Fun, Laughter, and Entertainment. Rest In Peace Ken there will Never Ever be another Comedian like you ? But just one Question "Diddy Pay for the Funeral" !!!
All his inland revenue jokes were side splitting funny. Some barmy mp introduced income tax, during the Napoleonic wars, at 2p in the pound, I thought it still was. He didn’t think he had to pay tax to the Inland Revenue, because he lived by the sea. F’ in brilliant.
Wow such great carriages. Doddy's wallet is truly open for this. SAD. I met him once when I was about 11 - he was opening an Hi Fi shop - he turned up in his Rolls Royce and ate fah and chips in it . LOL. RIP Sir Ken Dodd.
My mum agreed, she banned black at her funeral. She told us several times 'if anyone DARES to ware black at my funeral, even so much as a black tie, I'll come back and haunt you'
Ken Dodd was Roy’s hero and they were great friends. There is a difference between Roystan Vasey the man and Chubby Brown the Blue comic. Only liberal snowflakes or regressive marxist bullies have a problem with him
Chubby brown is a character. When the patchwork suit comes off he becomes Royston Vasey who has a great love and respect for his fellow comedians. He told me in 2013 that Ken Dodd was the comedians comedian.
Bravo Lynn! What some people fail to realise is that Roy Chubby Brown was admired by Ken Dodd and also people like Jimmy Tarbuck, because whatever you think of his swearing, he's a very skilful stand up comic. Stand up comedy is an incredibly difficult discipline, and the people who can do it well respect each other. Sir Ken Dodd was quite simply the best stand up comedian this country has ever produced, so unsurprisingly Roy Chubby Brown is among the many, many comedians (far too many to list here) who idolise him. I think it was very moving to see so many fellow professionals at Sir Ken Dodd's funeral, paying respects to the Guv'nor.
Good on him. Yeah he dodged a bit of tax but he actually paid more tax and gave away/earned more for charity than a lot of people earn in their lifetime.
just like most people would if they could get away with it. Besides, Ken Dodd never actually dodged any tax because he had to pay it in the end so basically his taxes were fully paid and up to date. He tried it on, he got caught. Thats the chance you take if you're that way inclined.
There will NEVER be any one like him again....Rest in Peace Ken, you gave millions laughter...
I've wasted 56 years of my life not knowing about this man until very recently ........ what a comedy GENIUS! RIP Sir Ken, and may you continue to make us happy.
Thankyou for all the laughs Mr Dodd 👍❤

Ken Dodd could outshine the Sun, who could not laugh when Doddy was on?😎

I was lucky to see him perform where he told the joke self assessment the tax man stole that idea from me.

Stan Boardman died years ago
All that BLACK is so wrong. Thanks to the Queen Vic!
My mum agreed, she banned black at her funeral. She told us several times 'if anyone DARES to ware black at my funeral, even so much as a black tie, I'll come back and haunt you'
Liverpool lost Cilla Black in 2015, and now Ken Dodd. There won't be a big funeral until Paul McCartney passes away.
That is assuming he even has it in Liverpool!
Theres a few there who look like they might be seeing Ken soon.
Shame the press turn it into a circus. Didn't have much time for Dodd but deserves a bit of decorum.
If you didn't have much time for him why come on here?
Jeff Hough Need opinions from both sides. I'm a fubral director too. Always looking for ideas...
Roy chubby brown?
man hope he didnt say anything offensive
Ken Dodd was Roy’s hero and they were great friends. There is a difference between Roystan Vasey the man and Chubby Brown the Blue comic. Only liberal snowflakes or regressive marxist bullies have a problem with him

He was as funny as a dark spot on a lung x-ray, and so are almost all the 'comics' who turned up at the funeral.
Tax dodger
Good on him. Yeah he dodged a bit of tax but he actually paid more tax and gave away/earned more for charity than a lot of people earn in their lifetime.
Yes, just like the royal family, most of the cabinet etc.
just like most people would if they could get away with it. Besides, Ken Dodd never actually dodged any tax because he had to pay it in the end so basically his taxes were fully paid and up to date. He tried it on, he got caught. Thats the chance you take if you're that way inclined.

Never made me laugh but I hear he was a lovely man and done a lot for charity like Sir Jimmy Saville.
Not a comedian among them
