Ever tried The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures? It really is fun with friends. NOTE - the Game Boy Player disk MUST be from your region to work, but at least you only need 1 disk
If you want a more interesting experience you can get 4 more GBA to Gamecube connecters and use the original GBA as a controller for each gamecube so (Main GC --(GCtoGBA)--> Player GC --(GCtoGBA)-->GBA as controller) Iv been planning to do this for years, iv been looking for specific 4:3 screens for the 4 players as well as a way to capture it...
I Like Adding Gamecube Memory Cards on Both My Wii and GameCube to Save Alot Progress throughout the History on a Game For an example Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut 130 Eblems and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle 180 Emblems Sonic Heroes 120 Emblems they have Game Data features. yes I would collect 5 different GameCube Consoles myself and 4 Long Extension Gamecube Controller cords and the gba Link and a GBA And the gba sp.
I actually have it since launch and played it with friends, but using my own TV and everyone using their own GBAs with the GC-GBA link cables (I still have two of them). Such a good experience, I remember one of my friends went always crazy with bombs and throw bombs at every single enemy, rock, wall and even fellow Links xDDD Such a crazy, but fun game.
now here’s a cheeper way of doing this, you don’t really need a 5th GameCube to play the main disc, you can just use your model-1 Nintendo Wii to play it. Then just daisy-chain your 4 GameCubes and 4 game boy players together with it, it’s that simple.
I've been telling you to do this forever! played through Four Swords Adventures half a dozen times with friends and family over the years using this setup. I use a Wii for the game console though. You know, 480p. I've got them hooked up to Trinitrons too although I need to get rid of a few of them soon because I'm moving. Anybody in Oregon want a trinitron?
I had a buddy of mine that was moving some of his TVs around back around 2005, and before he settled on where to put them, he did this with 3 TVs and GameCubes (2 players total, the extra GameCubes were mine and another friend's) in a spare room just to mess around and see if it could be done. I've never actually seen it done with four systems until this video, though!
This sparks joy as I am currently underway with my own setup for this. For mine I will be using an Analogue Pocket, GBAHD, separate Gamecube with GBI software, and potentially a Panasonic Q! All four will have their own separate feed captured, while also outputting to 4 screen PBP monitor with a separate 2nd monitor being for the Main Cube. I'm glad many people have wanted to share in doing this; I've also been getting Triforce Heroes Coop ready as well as I now have three New 3DS Capture Cards installed (Majora, Samus, & Triforce Editions).
So I had been thinking of trying this exact setup for years now, but I only have the one Gamecube and four GBAs. However, I think I found a way to step it up a notch. For the Melee community, the holy grail for video is with a CRT Monitor. These were most often used in to display security footage and have superior refresh rates and are designed to remain on over long periods of time. The official Gamecube RGB cables are $200 a piece and the monitors can range anywhere from $200 to $2000, and you'll have to get a RGB to VGA adapter. So this setup requires 5 Gamecubes (DOL-001 only), 4 Gameboy Players, 1 Gameboy Player Disc, 5 CRT Monitors, 4 GBA Link Cables, 5 Gamecube Controlers, 5 Official Gamecube RGB Cables, and 5 RGB to VGA adapters. This is the best way to play Four Swords: Adventures without modifying you console. I don't imagine many on this channel would even consider hacking their consoles, for collecting and preservation sake, but here's another avenue if you do, and it may be cheaper than the previous setup. Here you can either do 5 Gamecubes with the HDMI mod (You can do DOL-001 or DOL-101, but the 101 model needs a conversion chip), 4 with a Gameboy Player, on 5 standard monitors or hd tvs (Warning, I'm pretty sure Gamecube progressive scan is 720p and will just be stretched on a 1080p tv/monitor), 4 GBA Link Cables, 5 Gamecube Controlers, and this time you might need two memory cards this time depending on how you load the gameboy player. For the Gameboy player, you can use an official disc, or you can load the Gameboy Interface player through the homebrew menu. You can gain homebrew capabilites by modifying the console, or through an exploit using a legitimate copy of Melee. You can avoid the Gameboy player altogether in this path though, through the GBA Consolizer mod. This esentially turns the GBA into an HDMI compatible console with controller options. How you play Four Swords is up to you. My friend did this when the Wii first came out, had us bring over our Gamecubes with players. I was also able to get this set up going with some help at a convention at the beginning of 2020, right before covid started taking off. It's beautiful!
FINALLY!!!!!! A lunatic just like me. I had four GBA’s modded specifically for this one game. Now I need three friends to make this happen lol. You’re an inspiration 🤝😂
I used to own 3 GameCubes since I used to run local Melee tournaments and after I finished, I sold two of them since I never thought I’d need them. Kinda regret that after seeing this 😭
I had figured out that you only need one disk for multiple GameBoy players. It's a neat experience and, if you don't want to get five GameCubes, maybe just buy four with the players and use your Wii (RVL-001 with the gamecube ports) for the game itself as it runs like a Gamecube with GameCube games.
Four Swords Adventures is one of my favorite Zelda games, it's highly underrated imo. I love how you explained the whole setup like someone else would actually be mad enough to do this lol!
I believe that you can take out the Animal Crossing Disc and play the game like normal except for saving, this is because the amount of data on the disc is smaller than the RAM on the Gamecube, so the game gets saved to the Gamecubes RAM.
I remember when a friend of mine was hype to play this back in the day, we got some friends together and after about 2 hours we got stuck on a puzzle and started beating on each other and throwing each other into pits. He got frustrated that we weren't trying to beat the game anymore and we ended up quitting and never playing it again lol.
I always knew it was possible and remember wikipedia (or some community thing) saying "it's possible, but no one has really tried it." Now we have someone with enough of the equipment to actually do it.
You really need a projector for the main TV, get yourself 100 inches projected onto a back wall with 4 smaller TVs lined up below it. Still, way too cool. 😎
I was sooo happy when two friends actually came by with their GBAs while I bought the game and three cables just for the just for the Multiplayer Battle Mode. We've played it for an hour since a friend hat issues with a broken shoulder button, but I'll never forget that one truly expensive hour! :D I guess I prefer it at least in battle when they have to look on the GBA for that one reason that it is more realistic / more immersive when I can't see what they're doing in a house / cave when I'm not with them.
That would be significantly more expensive because you need 4 lan adapters which go for $200+ each, and 4 copies of double dash instead of just one copy of Zelda.
This is madnes I love it!!! Now you have to do it again but this time with the japanese Four Swords version, so you can play the legendary Navi Trackers, it even has voice acting!
I made it a ways. I have 2 cubes and 2 GBA's. Great setup. I just need a little more but my girlfriend said no. Thanks for living the dream for me. I can still do two player Games for Gameboy though with my flashcarts so I am happy. Plus I have 2 SNES systems and 2 Super Gameboy 2's.
this was standard for halo . we would link up 4 xboxes and 4 tvs . this was before live existed. i feel its funner to have friend and fam over and talk crap to each other face to face.
I would definitely do this if I was enough of a gamecube fan to do this, but I only have 1 gamecube. If there was something similar with PS2s I would definitely do it though, because I have 6 PS2s. I also must say that you put the wrong gamecube on the CRT. The base game of 4 swords was made for the 6th generation when flat screen TVs were a high luxury and everyone was still gaming on CRTs, but the GBA SP was a back-lit LCD which is essentially what an HD flatscreen is. Next time you do this, I think you should put the middle gamecube on the CRT and GBA player gamecubes on the flat screens.
If you want to get even crazier with the set up and for the best picture quality get 5 component cables🥶 roughly 300 for one. I got my cib for 360 from Japan.
I used to work for a somewhat hush hush company doing some hush hush things, and this setup he has would have made my life a living hell when I would attempt to meter it.
Now you can just use GBI instead of the startup disc if you want to do this and save some money. Also just use cheap thrift store monitors and use the cheap snes hori style clone controllers and you've got a pretty good setup.
It could be better...the colors of each player to match with the color of GC controller, modded GC controller by the LEDs controlled via BT, paracorded cable in proper color (I'm performing these mods), and also mod the GC console LED too. It would be a dream :D
Wow thanks for the tutorial! I have seen this set up in the gamecube collector groups on Facebook but no one ever share the steps! I only need two more gameboy players and I can do this! Great video I will share it with the collecting groups! Will this work for final fantasy Crystal Chronicles?
if i had the money and my friends and i had the time i would totally do this. But i wouldn't just stop with that game id do this with mario kart double dash.
Those are awesome looking GameCube consoles. I also want the GameCube HDMI so I wonder where I can get that so I can play some GameCube games and get another memory card. I also need another purple GameCube controller. Please let me know. Thank you.
Assuming all your friends own 1 laptop & 1 Bluetooth controller, you could achieve this by using mGBA ip address connection to dolphin all connecting to the laptop that holds mGBA & Dolphin for the TV screen and Laptop screen, and your friends could also plug in the laptops to screens if they really want the big tv expirience, but it that's the case, then you could also do it with only 1 laptop given you have 5 TV's to begin with.
This is amazing! Could you do a similar combination with Mario Kart Double Dash? Double Dash has Lan play with broadband adapters for 16 player races. I’ve always wanted to see what it was like.
We've all dreamed of doing this, but this maniac actually did
This is easily the most insane thing I have seen all day. Very nice work!

@@albertwayne2323 Pac Man vs.Pac man and SADXDC and SA2B have Gba links 4 ports on the Gamecube and Wii to Playthrough The Mini Choa Games.
I want 2 Nintendo GameCubes.
That setup is awesome! Great vid!
When ever get rich, this is one of the first things I’m doing
😂 Big dreams!
But are you a big enough chad to do 16 players mario kart double dash?
Now if that set up gets done 16 player double dash all with wavebird controllers that’s ultimate chad status I’ll subscribe to this channel
I love the videos when his voiceover audio is CENTERED. Also good job on the video title!
You could save the most money by each friend having their own gamecube and adapters and tvs

Nice! This could expand your content into so much more areas.
So happy to finally see this after years of you mentioning it on the channel! :D
Nice! Always wanted to do something similar with Double Dash to get 16 people in on the action simultaneously.
I also want to try that with Double Dash but the fact that you can only do 1 race and then get booted back to the home screen ruined it
Four Broadband Adapters 🤯
@@NintendoCollecting any plans for a video on this for mario kart double dash?
This is madness..... I have this idea in my head about 10 years ago never did I think someone would actually do it keep up the great work!!!!!!!
Group couch co-op is my childhood
It's such an amazing concept The Runaway Guys did it for their playthrough of four Swords a few years back
I've been telling you to do this forever! played through Four Swords Adventures half a dozen times with friends and family over the years using this setup. I use a Wii for the game console though.
