@@tonyischotter3360 YOU didn't landed on earth, since 1979,bro?😂👍🙊SUPER cool! But, I would have saw that band live too! I'm JALEOUS! Alvin, was, really, incredible! His style is so special! No other guitarist is sounding like him! No-one, is using the same phrases, he's paying on the pentatonic! And, the live version of I'M GOING HOME at WOODSTOCK, is not coming from our galaxy! So did Jimi Hendrix. FACT. I think this performance changed how Jimi Hendrix played and wanted to sound in truth. Jimi's Band of Gypsies show at the Fillmore he is starting to play more like Alvin plays. And then he died. :( I also think that Alvin and each member of Ten Years After. Are under rated greats from the greatest era in music ever.

I believe if Alvin Lee were a comic book superhero, he would be “the flash.“ Rarely, but once in a while, a talent emerges, which is a gift. A gift that is not as much absorbed from the outside as it is a fountain that flows from within their very soul, and is an integral part of their being at the very core of who they are. This was Alvin Lee I should add that not only could he play as he did electrically but he also played just as well and I encourage people to find his acoustic work because it is beautiful. I must have listened to his album “a space in time” more than 600 times in my lifetime and never get tired of it. Alvin Lee, I thank you for all the entertainment you provided us through the years while you were with us and I am angry at the surgeon who botched your surgery and took us away From your talent and your life much too soon. You should still be with us. I truly appreciate the work and the legacy that you left us. Peace.

All he really needs is a few guitar lessons and he might not be half bad ;-) Alvin Lee, one of the greatest guitarist of all time. Seriously, it’s rare but once in a while, someone comes along with a gift the talent it isn’t absorbed from outside, but flows like a fountain from their very soul, as the music is an integral part of their being at their very core, this was Alvin Lee. I recommend listening to his acoustic guitar work in addition to his electric finesse. Alvin was always disappointing without Ten Years After. Ten Years LATER were pretty dreadful. The addition of keyboards(Chick Churchill) made a HUGE difference & Rhythm section Leo & Ric complimented Alvin's style more than anyone else who played with Him. Too bad Alvin didn't recognize that Himself.

I was lucky enough to see the OG Ten Years After with support Band being Wishbone Ash. It was Alvin's TYA farewell Tour and the very last show too. Was a great show, but in hindsight a terribly sad one too. But they played practically a 2 hour set with full drum solo ''The Hobbit'' and Bass solo's and of course Alvin being a Guitar God. I am honoured to of witnessed it. I have seen many Bands like Queen at Wembley for example. And watching TYA in London was one of the best gigs I have ever been too.

They knew they were out of tune and it was because of the humidity at Woodstock that affected their instruments and the tuning slipped out of it. Secondly, they try to tune but it was difficult because of how loud it was from the crowd and they just couldn’t get it out of the way.

@@julienmarquet8612 1)TEN YEARS AFTER WENT ON AFTER A LIGHTNING STORM. HENDRIX DIDN'T. Sounds like you know everything about HENDRIX, & F*CK-ALL about the (well documented) tuning f*ck-up LEO LYONS ,from Ten Years After, experienced ,that night, a different day ,different humidity to when Hendrix performed.
2)ALVIN LEE, LEO LYONS, whenever they were asked to recall their memories of Woodstock, always mentioned about that tuning issue ,& THE DANGERS GOING ON AFTER THE STORM & THE STAGE WAS DRENCHED WITH WATER. They brought it up in interviews ever since the 1970's. Woodstock was the ONLY time that happened SO, HUMIDITY WAS NOTICEABLY AN ISSUE AT THAT GIG. THEY HADN'T HAD THE ISSUE PRIOR, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE ISSUE AFTER, NOT AS BAD AS WOODSTOCK.
3)Alvin Lee's technique Blew Hendrix off that stage, even with Leo Lyons having tuning problems. I'm a HUGE Hendrix fan, but, as a kid, I stayed up all night to watch Woodstock on TV in 1989 specifically to see HENDRIX. I'd never heard of Alvin Lee or Ten Years After. As a lead guitarist singer I'd take Alvin over Jimi, anyday. Jimi (mostly) sounded CRAP live. SOME of that is due to recording quality limitations of the time.
I also appreciate the huge talent's Hendrix had in His own right others of the time didn't have i.e: songwriting, chord embellishment innovation, showmanship(...though He stole quite a bit of that from Pete Townshend) ..& more.
