  • In this video I'll show you a relatively quick and easy way to increase the travel on your Rockshox Judy fork. It doesn't require you to remove the lower legs. Most Judy forks are 100mm travel but they can be increased up to 120mm of travel. This process is also pretty much the same on a Rockshox Recon fork.
    You will need some specialty tools and lubricants to get the job done. I have some affiliate links below for all the parts you will need. All links are to my favorite online bike shop: Worldwide Cyclery. You won't pay a penny more but it will support the channel thanks to a little kickback from Worldwide Cyclery:

    Important: the 29er Judy with a quick release axle is not approved by RockShox to go above 100mm travel. Check out the official RockShox service manual for more details. I have reduced mine back to 100mm.

    I just want to say thank you for making this easy to follow video. I just bought my wife a new Rockshox Recon RL for her polygon cleo 2 hardtail. With the forks being brand new, I was able to follow the quick travel instructions and completed it within 10minutes. Thank you again for making me look good lol.

    Hey I just bought a specialized expert fuse 6fattie 2016 and it is a size L. It’s supposed to come with a 120mm of travel, but it only uses 100mm of travel while it does have the 120mm of space. Anyone know if this is also caused by spacers or if there is a other way to fix this?

    I just did this, it was a huge pita. I had to remove lowers, the spacer looked like it was actually glued in place. Brand new bike. What was also odd is that only about 2 drops of oil came out. Everything was oily but it seems like there was not enough oil in it.

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  2 месяца назад

      Yeah it’s definitely not easy. Glad you got it done though and got the right amount of oil in there too.

    I bought a Judy silver tk 120mm fork does that mean for me to get my 120mm travel I need to take out the spacer?

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  3 месяца назад

      If yours said 120mm then it will already have it removed and have the full 120mm travel.

    Is it a Silver or Gold? And is it 29" or 27,5"? From the Sram Manual it shouldnt go to 120mm just the Boost is supposed to

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  9 дней назад

      Pretty sure this one is a Silver. Whatever manual I was looking at showed it going up to 120mm. I think it’s a 2021 model year fork.

    Whether it's the rock shock judy gold or the silver, or the recon gold or the silver, can its travel be increased to 140mm, if when you buy it it comes in 120mm? I would really appreciate the answer since I don't know whether to buy it or not..., I like to push the bike hard and due to the thickness of the bars I would surely opt for the recon silver or gold that has 32mm diameter bars. thank you.

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  2 месяца назад

      Judy can only go to 120mm maximum. I think this is due to the smaller 30mm stanchions. You’ll also want to look up specs on damper side fluid amount and possibly add more when increasing the travel.

    I have Judy Silver TK 120 travel but i want to decrease it to 100 or 110 travel. I haven't been working on forks, i wanna do it myself but i might mess it up.

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  4 месяца назад

      I guess it depends on how mechanically inclined you are and what tools you have. Decreasing would be adding spacers so you wouldn’t have to fight the get the original one out like I had to.

    Does removing the spacer actually cause the fork to be 20mm longer or does it just allow the fork to compress 20mm more? I'm looking to slacken my HTA by moving from 100 to 120mm. But looking at the design of the Judy I came up with this question. Thanks

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  Месяц назад +1

      It allows the lowers to extend further and therefore makes the fork longer

    Removing the spacer entirely raises the front end by 20mm? or lowers it? Is the spacer necessary?

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  5 месяцев назад

      Removing the 20mm spacer will increase the travel by 20mm and therefore raise the front end by 20mm. It isn’t necessary and it is how 120mm versions of the fork come.

    My fork rockshox gold 35 rl is 130mm travel now. Can i increase to 160mm travel?

    • @downtoridemtb
      @downtoridemtb  21 день назад

      I’m pretty sure on those you have to replace the entire air spring assembly. But keep in mind that if your bike was designed for 130mm travel then 160mm travel will throw off the geo and be potentially dangerous.
