I resolved the issue in my MacBook Pro 2016 A1706 after many searches I find the problem in the Touch Bar it's failed, I replaced the Touch Bar hardly fix because the Touch Bar it's extremely glued, after replacing the Touch Bar the Mac work well
I am also having the same issue but in my case the ssd is showing but when I try to install the os at the last moment it shows an error any idea why is it so ?
Hi, I have commented at your another video just now. But I find this video matches the symptoms of my MacBook exactly. My Macbook Pro A1706 with a touch bar has a dead onboard SSD. It cannot detect the SSD. The symptoms are exactly the same as the one in this video. When I tried to enter the system with Mac recovery system, as you did in this video, it also couldn't detect the SSD. I'd like to ask someone to fix it but I also care about the security of my data. My Macbook doesn't enable the FileVault. If it has been repaired, will someone be able to read the data without inputting the password? Thank you.
Hi there, I was wondering if this model had the "lifeboat"port. The 2016 & 2017 Touch bar Only are known to have it. Data recovery using the Apple recovery tool is an option on these.
Hi, I have a similar issue with my macbook pro A1708. It doesn’t detect the SSD sometimes but after few restarts it does. When i ran a diagnostic on the SSD it says the SSD is fine. But i still keep getting this error. Could this be something related to logic board?
if u A1708 has the original ssd it will die soon. there is a known issue with those ssds. if u use a adapter and nvme ssd ur adapter is low quality and doesnt reset the ssd on reboots in this case u need to buy a higher quality adapter
I am running in the same problem, I do have the ssd installed… but not showing up my Macintosh HD… I somehow click on something and it showed up my 256gb SSD when I tried to install Monterey it said it would take 5hrs and it was 11pm so I was like cool I do it tomorrow and cancel it. Now I can’t see my HDD just the 3gb. Any help please!!! 😢😢😢
help me please, my macbook A1706 SSD is HFS format, cannot change to AFPS , so i cannot instal OS , device stuck on logo folder but inrecovery SSD is showing
If it is stuck in HFS, most likely you have an older recovery partition such as High Sierra. You would need to install the correct one first and then do an update. Use HFS and Journaled. Since you have a1706 you should be able to upgrade after anyway
Just purchased a WD sn770 ( known to Work ) but my mbp mid 2014 doesnt reckognize the SSD in the disk utillity in recovery boot, nor in terminal disk list :( Any ideas ?
thats most probably the installer not having drivers to read that drive. I have, I believe, the same issue. Trying really hard to look for a solution. The command+R (or command + shift + opt + R, to get the factory os installer or the latest installed os installer) download the El Capitan, which doesn't have the drivers for my 3rd party nvme (which is installed in my mac. I don't have the option to get original apple SSD, as recommended in some of the forums/posts) and as for the command+opt+R (which gets the latest compatible installer) that installer gives me an error that means that my firmware is out of date. I know for a fact that the SSD works as I've been able to install Linux on it (and create a mac os virtual machine, in hopes of creating a boot install USB stick that can potentially fix my MacBook pro)
My macbook pro (retina, mid 2015) has the same issue as in this video ( or I belive it has ) but the folder with question mark is probably due to me having erased that nvme drive completely. and the other difference being that my SSD is not faulty, but it still doesn't show up in the recovery mode disk utility or in the terminal command diskutil list
Ok so I havent watched the complete video so anyone facing this issue has to get their ssd checked. It's more likely u need a new ssd now. Boot your macbook after removing your ssd and if it boots within the 5 seconds then ssd is the issue. Recently, I faced this issue and ssd was the culprit.
@@7badtotheboneI’ve read this elsewhere. About to open up mine and see if there’s something disconnected. Mine did take a lite this recently so hoping this is the problem. Did you ever figure it out?
IF YOUR HAVING THIS ISSUE YOU CAN BOOT YOUR MACOS OFF EXTERNAL AND USE THE MAC THIS WAY!!!! IVE BEEN USING IT THIS WAY FOR OVER A YEAR NO ISSUES!!!! SO INSTALL ON EXTERNAL SSD BOOT OF OF IT POINT TO PARTITION !!!!
Dealing with same issue on MacBook Air 2015 model. Was put up and not used for a while. When we tried to start it up yesterday it’s doing the same as the one in the video. But I have an old mechanical drive 2009 model that works like new. Weird?
I just tried reformatting a 2015 macbook Pro with and now my Mac does not Show any internal Hard Drive/SSD nor the External Hard Drive I have Time Machine backups on. Any ideas, the computer just worked before I refreshed it to sell it yesterday but decided to keep it ?

Could it be the sata cable?

Can you just install a external ssd as primary and just make use of the machine this way ?
I know older versions of macOS (before Big Sur) download and install fine on external drives. Newer versions of macOS have given me trouble

I have exactly the same problem.... and i tried to install windows 11 and is working the SSD is not damaged but now the sound is not working
My macbook air does same and ssd comes and goes what to do ??😢
Most likely a bad SSD, especially on older models
So did he offer a solution? I’m currently facing this issue with my MacBook
Please tell me what to do ,😢In my macbook pro not showing ssd 😢because of that it's working very slow😢

Sadly not all ssd is removable 😢
you can just solder the ssd to the motherboard. usually its disconnected from the board
Is this common on the A1706? I don’t know if this was a joke comment or not?

these models are just trash, slow dual cores with so many factory issues
I bought a new hp 15s-du3786Tu Laptop.
But it is too slow.
It takes 3-4 minutes to open and it gets hanged all the time
How can i fix it sir?

Mechanical drives can last a long time if there are no issues. SSDs NAND will fail over a certain number of TB written
noooooooooo 🥺😭
