- We're back in the caravan this week for a little adventure we have had our eye on for a while now! Join us as we head to Awakeri, a small town just outside of Whakatane to do a pretty unique experience where you drive modified golf carts on an old disused railway line.

Kawarau definitely worth a visit. Pools are outstanding and changing rooms have underfloor heating. Small charge for a powered site - see i-site across the road. We plan to have a couple of nights there when the weather cools.

In tge early 60's we went on holiday to Awakari and the pool was up and over the hill behind the pool. The pool was destroyed in the Edgecombe earthquake.
