When you click the dropdown tab from the playlist selector and click new it will create a new blank playlist up top to send to. So you wont have to rewrite the original main take. Or you can select the top playlist, hit control \ , it will as if you want to create another playlist. It will bump the last one down so you will have a new blank target playlist.
Something simple that helped my workflow,.. was to create a "new playlist", before starting the loop recording. I mainly started doing this because I was annoyed by the "track.01"'s clip being auto labeled "Track_.02",.. and so on. If you create new playlist first,.. it leaves the original track empty to add comps to,.. while at the same time,.. "track.01"s clip then gets auto labeled as "track_01" :D
They must have updated that. In the studio when they comp my vocals there is not a wav form in the top and hitting the up arrow moves the take into that blank track. Which I love.
So, I don't always record tracks directly into the laptop: I sometimes use a Tascam 4 track recorder that saves each track as a wave, then I import them onto Pro Tools to edit later. Does anyone know if there is a way of importing these wave files into a playlist so I can do the vocal comping this way? Thanks
You can't import them directly into a playlist. You can make a track and then create multiple playlists within the track, and then drag your imported tracks into them. I do it all the time. 🤘🤘🤘

You are so good at explaining and so to the point! Thank you.
Glad I could help! 👍
Could I create a blank track for first take and move things up without losing any of the takes?
You certainly can. 👍
Literally perfect. Will be referring to your channel for Pro Tools moving forward.
Thanks so much for checking out the channel! I'm glad you are digging the Pro Tools content. 🤘

@@AudioSorcerer Thank you
@@clockworkeyes no problem 👍
The take that's overwritten should still be available in the clip list on the right, even if completely overwritten from the track
Create a new playlist called vox comp. And you avoid writing over. Also. Clip list will preserve all your takes and tracks.
I got nervous when you said "pro TOOLS" it's like people who say "red BULL"
Lol 😂
