- Tonight we find out if the El Cap is worth 2x more than the DL4 Mkii.
You can decide which is better for you.
Signal Chain:
2015 Reverend Double Agent
EAE Limelight
Strymon El Cap v2
Line 6 DL4 Mkii
Universal Audio Lion

Both delays sound fantastic. I walked away from this video thinking “I need a AU Lion”.
If I had to pick delay, I’d pick the Line 6 for versatility
Honestly, everybody needs a UA Lion
But I have an HX Stomp, a BossDD-200, and an RV-500. Do I need a DL4? … maybe! ;)
Line 6 is practically giving these away. People are missing out.
It's almost like stealing candy from a baby
Because Line 6 knows that the Timeline MX is about to come out!
I grabbed two black editions
Please keep this series going this is entertaining as hell! Should throw a Volante into the mix next haha
Haha thank you! The Volante is killer too
In my experience the Line6 gear is a great creation station, inspiring to write with. The HX effects is worth a look. The strymon gear is hard to beat for great sound. That being said I sold my el cap and volante. Delays on my board currently are the Keeley Halo, the ability to use an aux pedal to bring the effect in and out is epic, and the Walrus audio D1 which is great in its own right.
Love the mutemath.
Couldn't agree more.
@@kuchdizzle88 dude thanks
Woo! I love seeing the Limelight in the mix.
I have the brig and an el cap and couldn’t be happier… I tried the memory lane for a while and went right back the brig. Strymon pedals really are just that good 👍 👍👍
Ohh I’ve been looking at the Brig!
@@gearnighthang do it… it is awesome 👍
DL4-two should be able to do ANY delay sound.
It’s like we’re buying a whole experience rather than an object that just does a thing. Sometimes we need just a thing to do the job, but more often we’ll pay more for THE thing we just want to experience lol. The el Capistan just has this charm to it. does that make any sense lol ?? Great video btw!
Thanks! Yep totally agree! Well said
The reason is simple: Strymon always overprices their products. Based on many, many comparison videos i saw. Good stuff, but not by a long shot worth its money.
Strymon is definitely better sounding 👍🏾 The line 6 is missing something I can’t quite describe 🤔
Did I hear you playing the riff to MuteMath's "Spotlight" at the beginning??
SURE DID
Sure is. That’s Alec’s favorite band
Only 1 disappointment with the DL4 mk2. No trails accross presets. Unfortunate, but it’s still worth so much more than the price tag! So much inspiration in there.
Yep I agree!
I own both, and believe they both have their strengths, but the DL4 MKII is an objectively better value & considerably more versatile. The DL4 MKII looper alone is worth the retail price. There are also exceptional delays & reverbs in there.
I rather cry once and forget about it. Strymon pedals just sound better. Ye,s its only 1 type of delay but it does it really well.
Believe it or not, most people wont use the backwards or double helix delays near as much as they imagine they would!
Meris LVX
I've been watching a dangerous amount of videos about it recently. So tempting but so pricey!
I gotta try the LVX and the Mercury X!
@@alecbarnhart6428I sold my timeline, Bigsky, wet, genloss to buy and replace them. The amount of pedals they replace is huge! There’s a tremolo, chorus and other stuff in there…
I like the DL4 MKII but my Flashback X4 sounds better.
Ohhh that's an interesting video
Interesting was never impressed with the delays on that. Not bad...just line 6 delays always seemed more accurate with their models to the original. Everyone's got different taste I guesss
