I really like the presentation methodology and the rules of thumb advice as a separate presentation. I am hooked and now a subscriber. Thank you! Patrick from Albuquerque
Love your videos. Just one complaint: when instructed to **fly runway heading** one should NOT apply wind drift correction. This is straight from the FAA. If parallel departures are flying runway heading with a stiff crosswind, then no loss of separation will occur. If only one pilot applies the wind correction, separation might be lost. This obviously only applies for heading assignments. Track is different. Great video! I've been wondering how I should be teaching my IR students takeoff with use of FD in low vis and this answered those questions!
I’m glad you picked up on that. I almost bypassed the video one minute in because of that fundamental and very important error but decided to carry on and glad I did. Very informative other than that.
thanks,, thats nasty that the g1000 would want to do like a 340 degree left turn instead of a 20 to the right .. that error should be fixed ,, it should turn to the side where the bug is within that 180 half
Another note.....with the GA activated and you pitch to the command bars and are a little high or low, wIll the command bar adjust to present pitch if you press the CWS button on the yoke? I have noticed on a C182T that with pitch trim set for T/O and the GA activated, the plane tucks right in under the command bars without any additional trim required. Have you noticed this with other single engine aircraft? Patrick from Albuquerque
How do you know what pitch attitude will give you desired Vy..I’m assuming you would do a normal VFR take off and see what pitch attitude would give you the desired speed. Maybe I just answered my own question? Lol. Side note I just passed my private and now studying my ground for my instrument and we use a g1000 in the 172 I will be training in. And I believe it does not have a “toga” button.. thanks in advance and great videos

Press FLC, and then set it to 74 for Vx, or 62 for Vy
Is there a Flight director on G1000 setups that do not use the GFC700 autopilot?
