Service StabiliTrak, Service Traction Control, ABS Light Chevy Silverado, Avalanche, Tahoe, Suburban

  • A few months ago my cruise control started intermittently working. Then my StabiliTrak, Traction Control, and ABS failed. Changing the brake switch didn't solve the problem so the next step was to look at the wheel speed sensors. This may help you because the Silverado, Avalanche, Tahoe, and Suburban are all pretty much the same.

Wow, I finally found the right video! I was using my 4WD on my 2007 Chevy Z71 and was getting stuck so I was trying to shift into 4 Lo and these lights came on, I turned off the truck and turned it back on and was able to get unstuck. But also I’ve heard a bad abs speed sensor can cause an issue with brake pedal going to the floor at low speeds because the ABS turns on because of a bad sensor ! Thanks for the video!

So on the new Sensors you should just get a “1” which basically means the sensor is not grounding itself out? I’m confused because other videos I watch led said on 200 resistance in ohms meter it should read a high number. When testing “good new sensors” I’m getting the number “1” on my meter as well. I believe I do have a bad abs module as I have verified my body harness connectors are working and no bad wiring

Hello again Friend i actually change all my speed sensor. If i had done what you told me and check every single one, all i had to do was just change one sensor which it was the driver side was the one that wasn’t working because it was broken. I change every single one of them because all Of the other ones were crusty and deteriorating that will avoid in the near future the same issue and all i pay was $28 for both the front ones and $25 for the rear one on amazon. I also have a 2007 Chevy Suburban and this warning about stable track and traction control started showing about a week after I got four brand new tires and 1 month prior to that I had brand new rear brakes but intended to get the front brakes done but I was told to junk the car by my housemate who told me before I actually was introduced to him that my four tires belonged on his 2004 Chevy truc. He told me it had the wrong battery in it even though it was just put in 3 weeks before from the dealership in St George Utah and so he took it out and he said he threw it in the trash because it was too small to go into my 2007 Suburban and also told me to have it towed to the junkyard because it had a 120,000 miles on it I already spent $30,000 on a brand new paint job and of course all door handles replaced inside and out brand new windows and windshield brand new hood because a meteor hit it and all of the leather seats are basically brand new. Hey strategically parked it right under a tree that has strange glue droppings and millions of birds that have completely covered my brand new paint job in birdshit so now I cannot open the doors because the bird crap has glued them shut and of course been suicidal since I haven't been able to leave the house in 3 and 1/2 years. Can this problem be dangerous? I ask bc my the traction control light came on my 2007 Tahoe in December 2020 while driving approximately 45 mph. Barely ran off the road while trying to figure out the problem. ( not completely only my right tires approximately an inch or 2 in the grass) I clearly remember riding slowly and did not jerk the vehicle. Did as my dad always taught me never jerk the wheel ride it slowly. Have pics of the grass and distance . It’s not an area you would drive over 35 to 45mph. When all 4 tires made contact with pavement I lost total control of the vehicle. To this day I am completely baffled how it was possible. There was no gaining control and watched as I headed into the woods/trees on the opposite side of the road. It was a horrific accident and thankfully I’m still alive. I can’t help but wonder to this day what happened to the vehicle. I know the thought anyone would have is I overcorrected. I know I didn’t and have pics to prove it. It felt like something went wrong with the Tahoe. It’s too late for me, but if this is something that could possibly cause the vehicle to loose control I want to prevent anyone else from what happened to me. Thank God I was alone. I was driving to pick up my daughter when this accident occurred. I know nothing about the stability light and traction light, but did come on and it was in the winter where I live. No ice and grass was damp, but road supposedly dry.

Both of my lights have been on for at least a year and about a week ago. I started getting a noise from the left front wheel and within a week I don’t dare drive it anymore. I know I have to change the wheel bearing could that sensor have been smart enough to realize That that wheel wasn’t spinning the same speed as the rest of them because of bearing friction? Can you confirm one thing? When you tested the new sensor on the right front and the lights went away, was the sensor installed in the wheel hub or just hanging? I ask because I just did wheel hub bearing assemblies on my 2008 Escalade. I had no issues with the ABS and Traction before. But with the new hubs and sensors I get the C0035 code which indicates a fault in the right front wheel speed sensor. Just to be sure I didn't get a bad sensor in the new hub I put the original sensor in that I knew to be working and I still can't get rid of the dummy lights even after clearing the codes with the scan tool. In short I want to know if the lights clear even with the sensor NOT installed in the hub. I want to be sure the ABS ring in the new hub isn't bad causing the issue. If not, then I must have a bad wire somewhere up stream from where the sensor plugs in. But damn I didn't go past that plug.

Are you supposed to get a reading on ohms or not? You aren't clear about this in the video, and you show the test for the new sensor when it's not plugged into anything, but you don't show or say anything about the ohms reading when you have it installed and connected to the wire it connects to. I just tested mine and I have a .538 coming up on mine. So, what am I supposed to be getting?

    I recently discovered this nightmare.
Bought what turned out to be a bad tank of supreme gas ... It was contaminated with water.
20 min after the fill up, my engine started sputtering, misfiring etc.
I drive a Chevy Express 3500 6.0 liter. The next morning the check engine light came on and the "Service Stabilitrac/Traction control" message appeared.
I knew immediately that I had a load of water in my tank.
This caused my transmission to start hard shifting into first gear when coming to a stop, my engine to excessively hestitate and balk at shift points, and it completely shut down my stabilitrac safety features.
Chevy is CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT !!! in programming this mayhem into their ECU 😠
After several doses of HEET, two bottles of Sea Foam and 2 tanks of Shell gas, the water was passed through my system. And the check engine light and stabilitrac/traction control messages cleared. YUP...IT WAS JUST WATER IN THE FUEL!!!
I feel sorry for the people who are not experienced with automotive mechanics. I suspect that thousands of chevy and gmc owners have been fleeced at the dealership for assorted uneeded repairs.
Shame to GM for programming this garbage!!!👎👎👎

🤔🤔🤔 So you put a metal clip connected to a strange read device and you touch it to the tire. What is this supposed to do is it testing the amount of tread on the tire ??? That notification came on my panel after I got four brand new tires and it started making a weird noise and quickly vibrate left and right when I would press on the gas pedal an attempt to turn left into a parking lot. Quit driving it right after that because my housemate told me I needed to take it to a junkyard even though it only had $120,000 Mi on it and I am extremely gentle on my vehicles no hard stops and no heavy pressing on the gas pedal and so now I really want to get it fixed because I've been waiting three and a half years for his mechanic to give him a call back which I'm guessing he probably doesn't even have a mechanic because he was really angry that I paid to have it towed to the Chevy dealer cuz he told me that people at the Chevy dealer don't know anything about Chevrolet suburbans. Then he kept taking the battery out so I could never get it to the dealer myself 😢
