So Sam Raimi lost the rights to the first movie so he did a quick reimagining at the beginning of this movie too kind of catch people up to where they are now and then the actual movie begins about 15-20 minutes in. Plus this movies made more to be campy as a horror comedy
Great reaction! Army of Darkness (aka The Medieval Dead) is silly and fun and should be watched to continue the story but imo the series Ash vs Evil Dead is more of a must watch for fans of Evil Dead 2. It's hilarious, full of gore, and proves that the legend Bruce Campbell can still be one of the most ridiculously entertaining actors in horror.
You either get Evil Dead 2 or you don't. It's another MASTERPIECE!! This reaction made me subscribe. Hilarious!!! I hope y'all do Army of Darkness next.
I’m sure someone else commented this but the whole beginning sequence is meant to be a recap of the first movie but they didn’t have the rights to show any of it so it’s meant to pick up right when the demon throws ash in the woods
I played a ton of Duke Nukem 3D before seeing this trilogy and had no idea that Duke's signature one-liners were stolen from it. ("Groovy!" Most of the others come from Army of Darkness, IIRC.) Evil Dead II is the epitome of slapstick horror, IMHO, but I still can't wait for your reaction to Army of Darkness.
You have no idea how much I appreciate you guys 😂😂😂 Some of my favourite moments are the champagne at wedding night edit, sucked in the fart joke, Sergio mistaking the sun for the moon, you guys 'crying' for the demon hand, 'we were all quiet girl 😒', Cody obsessing about the blood on the shoulder ..such a Cody moment 🤣 This movie is a fun watch but like you I also prefer the tonality of the first. I would also add that because this movie focusses mainly on Ash you're less invested in the other characters. Of course, the practical effects and design were superior in this sequel. I can't wait to see your next reaction. You two have become my favourite reactors. You're a real joy to watch 🥰
The way my friends and I have quoted the disembodied head's "I'll swallow ya soul! I'll swallow ya soul!" at least weekly for the past 15 years. Like why does she suddenly have a pack a day jersey mom accent? I live.
My first shout out to to you guys, always love your reactions! Second shout out to Bruce Campbell. I'm still a bigger fan of the 1st Evil Dead even though it's more low budget in effects and acting. But I feel this one takes itself less seriously and is very entertaining . I haven't seen Army of Darkness yet but may do so and then follow your reactions if you venture on. Would love to see your reactions to Evil Dead Rise, (I haven't seen).
yea from what i understand evil dead 2 was sort of a redo of evil dead 1 and i cannot wait to see ya'll react to one of my favorite in this series which is army of darkness 😂 it's super silly in my opinion plus i prefer the alternate ending since it's just so along the lines of what ash would do 😂😂
I'm watching your reactions to this while I'm at work and jealous that I don't have a glass of tequila! Also wondering if Ash's hand is related to Thing from the Addams Family, lol!
regarding the different colors of blood, the book The Evil Dead Companion says: "Because of the problems 'The Evil Dead' faced through being released unrated, everyone connected with 'Evil Dead II' was concerned that however gory it might be, it had to get an R-rating. (This is one reason there's even more emphasis on bizarrely-coloured bodily fluids in the second film than there was in the first. The stuff doesn't look as gruesome when it's not red.)" Turns out it didn't work though as evil Dead II was also initially released unrated
Are you guys gonna watch Ash vs Evil Dead (the tv series) also? I think you would really like it, it's pretty funny and is just good if you enjoy the movies.
Yes. Definitely a must-watch, but you got to watch Army of Darkness first. You both will get a kick out of it. Lots of good campy humor and horror all at once. It was my original introduction to the Evil Dead Franchise, and I loved every minute of it.
I’m in the minority of people who prefer the scarier, more straightforward horror of the original ED, but I still love the sequels when I’m in a silly goose mood.
Loved, loved, loved your reactions! This is one of my favorite horror films. It felt like forever for the sequel to come out and I used to fantasize about the next movie when watching the dramatic ending of ED2 (I'm not a fan of Army of Darkness but hope you enjoy it). I think the movie is brilliant. I love the sound design, the absurdist scenarios, the angles and original cinematography angles and sequences when the force was playing with Ash and when the ghost was trying to enter the world. The brilliance of sound and visual angles gives me shivers every time I see it. I fought hard against acknowledging the comedic aspects of the movie because it was based in Three Stogies humor, which I do not appreciate, and I wanted to see and value the film as a fantastic horror film only. I eventually yielded. I love the absurdist aspects of the film like the "it's bigger on the inside house" multi-corridor and door shack. It's whacky, horrifying, disorienting, and wonderful. I was completely smitten with the scene when I first saw it. My brother or friend would scream "Eat it! Eat it!" whenever the eye flew into the woman's mouth when we watched the movie. I thought some of the effects were a bit low budget when I first saw it, and I'm not a fan of claymation, outside of King Kong, some some of us saw the effects as cheesy and cheap. Thanks for the review and loved that you loved and appreciated it.
This movie has a built in drinking game (albeit a very dangerous one ie; keep your emergency contacts handy): Take a shot everytime Ash hits his head. 'Evil Dead 2' is a fabulously campy movie filled with outrageous physical humour, and it makes me very happy. Thank you for the reaction!
The second Evil Dead is my personal favorite of the series and your reaction was awesome!! Also the laughing scene still is the creepiest scene in the whole movie!
Are you guys gonna do the 3rd movie * Army of Darkness? Also omg since you guys did chuckie show YOU MUST do Ash vs Evil dead series!!!! Set like 30 years later. Shows the PTSD poor dude Ash has. and more of the story... best part same team and same cabin from originals.. even the finale was soo good! Absolutely hilarious & scary gory show, decent writing. & Xena- Lucy Lawless is in it and tons of other great actors.
Similarly to Alien and Aliens, The 1st and 2nd film of Evil Dead are tonally and budgetary different, but yet great and iconic. Fans generally like one or the other and will fiercely defend it.
This intro is indeed a retcon, but you can just watch it from where the first film left off with the evil flying into Ash and lose nothing. The retcon just sets you up for this version.
So Raimi lost the rights to the original film, which is why the opening 10 mins are reminiscent of the first movie. The part here where Ash gets knocked out of the cabin and flew through the woods is where Evil Dead 2 proper starts
whats up horror bandwagon! i just discovered your channel today and i love it! this was a fun reaction of evil dead 2. i wanted to suggest three horror films i think you might like. one is called "Nght of the demons from 1988" The director's slogan for it was Angela's throwing a part! Freddy andJjason were to scared to go but it'll still be a killing time!" ( *bonus* the guy who plays Sal is cute!) the second film is one of director Peter Jackson's earliest films. he did horror in his younger years and one of his horror films was called " Dead Alive (aka) brain Dead" made in the late 80's or 90's the third and final film also be a good scare, it's called "Zeiram" it had a cult following for a long time it was a comic, a video game, an animated mini series under the protagonist name and it had a film as well as a sequel Zeiram 2 trust me when you see Zeiram's face and that sinister smile every horror film creeper can not compare to the nightmare's that angelic face of horror will deliver.
If you go back to the scene when he goes to the work shed for the first time and the severed head is biting his hand, when he opens the door you can see Freddy Krugers glove hanging over the door. Either Ramey or one of the crew borrowed it from the NMOES set as a nod to Nancy watchin the first Evil Dead in her room.
This was another one of those movies where I did not understand the tone change you have demented evil dead in the original then it goes campy for some reason💀.
Time to set the record straight. Everyone wonder if evildead 2 is a remake or sequel, the fact is that in the first movie Ash got possessed and the demon made him forget so he'd bring the demons more victims. It is 100% a sequel!
So Sam Raimi lost the rights to the first movie so he did a quick reimagining at the beginning of this movie too kind of catch people up to where they are now and then the actual movie begins about 15-20 minutes in. Plus this movies made more to be campy as a horror comedy
It's not even 15-20 minutes. It's 7.
@@dosnostalgic okay...

this was SO much fun, i can't wait for your reactions to evil dead rise and army of darkness!
I think Ash and his whole body is in a whole different dimension of pain but his back really has to hurt from carrying this movie ❤ lol 😆
My first shout out to to you guys, always love your reactions! Second shout out to Bruce Campbell. I'm still a bigger fan of the 1st Evil Dead even though it's more low budget in effects and acting. 12:50 I'm surprised you didn't notice Freddy's claw over the door...
I COULD NOT wait until I got home from work just so I could watch and drink to this episode. Made sure to have the bottle on standby 😉 👍🏽
I'm excited for you to react to the Evil Dead Rise. I also suggest trying the Spell (2020). ❤❤❤
yea from what i understand evil dead 2 was sort of a redo of evil dead 1 and i cannot wait to see ya'll react to one of my favorite in this series which is army of darkness 😂 it's super silly in my opinion plus i prefer the alternate ending since it's just so along the lines of what ash would do 😂😂
Seriously love your reactions, you both seem like really good and fun people! Also yes part 2 essentially is a reimagining of part 1.
I'm watching your reactions to this while I'm at work and jealous that I don't have a glass of tequila! Also wondering if Ash's hand is related to Thing from the Addams Family, lol!

I absolutely love your reaction videos, and throwing in the "She's My Cherry Pie" in that one scene had me rolling!! Keep 'em coming!!
(At 11:20) Only Tim Burton is allowed to use stop motion?

Can you please show off your shirts before you start the reaction? A little fashion show!! 😅
11:35
Sergio always gotta say something outta pocket 😭
Have one recommendation in movie for you: EXISTS (2014), this movie is cool and tense.
11:11 YAS HUNTY YOU BETTER WORK IT LIKE A RUNWAY
Can't wait for your EVIL DEAD RISE reactions omg!!!!
I’m in the minority of people who prefer the scarier, more straightforward horror of the original ED, but I still love the sequels when I’m in a silly goose mood.

Bruce Campbell (Ash) did all of his stunts in EVIL DEAD TRILOGY
The second Evil Dead is my personal favorite of the series and your reaction was awesome!! Also the laughing scene still is the creepiest scene in the whole movie!

I love evil dead.
Also the show is in my opinion a good watch if u haven’t seen it😋

Are you not doing army of darkness? I know it’s not exactly a horror movie anymore at that point, but it’d still be a shame.
Ash's chainsaw runs on chin power. Unlimited power.
To be fair, even Bruce Campbell jokes about is it a sequel is it a remake? It just.....is. Lol
The book is 3000 years old but, as mentioned in the intro, it disappeared in 1300.
BRUCE CAN SMOTHER ME TO😚😂
This is when the franchise started to get "Groovy"
I love ❤️ you both, can I go to your wedding?

Army of Darkness on Halloween?
Hahahahahahaha I'm crying here. Love you guys.
What's the title of this song at 28:16 !?
I really hope they react to the evil dead series. If they live scream queens then I feel like they are gonna live the series as well.
They use a mixture of glycerine and water to make the sweat so actors stay sweaty looking, with minimal applications.
RIP Linda......B😂
Let’s hecking go. I love this movie. I love y’all’s reactions
Work shed! 😂😅
Excellent
This was another one of those movies where I did not understand the tone change you have demented evil dead in the original then it goes campy for some reason💀.
Okay, the guy on the right got wet when Ash cut the shotgun with the chainsaw. lmao
28:25 I had the exact same reaction to Deadite Ellie in Evil Dead Rise
Time to set the record straight. Everyone wonder if evildead 2 is a remake or sequel, the fact is that in the first movie Ash got possessed and the demon made him forget so he'd bring the demons more victims. It is 100% a sequel!
That doesn’t make sense. Why would do many of the same events happen?
Can you drop a link for that Friday the 13th shirt?
That Groot the Ride comment cracked me the fuck up.
Groovy.
Great reaction guys as usual also please ignore Army Of Darkness it's terrible & pointless worst of the franchise. Skip to 2013 😁😃
Eh, definitely leans way more into comedy then this movie did. But if they do react to the tv show, that movie will be important for details
